Last night (6th Nov 2025) I noticed that over £100 credit suddenly appeared on my pay as you go smart meter, I certainly didnt add this credit and I have had no communication saying it was a goverment thing or anything like that, has this happenned to anyone else or does someone know why this has happened?

I am using the Charge app and the Hypervolt Pro 3 (bought through OVO) to charge my Volvo XC40 Recharge. It doesn’t work.  Customer service has been woeful. I have to wait for 40 minutes plus to speak to someone, who doesn’t have an answer and who promises to ‘escalate’ it. I’ve had a ‘ticket raised’ which amounted to zero contact. I’ve sent three emails and had no response to any of them.  So what’s happening…The car doesn’t charge through the app. I set the schedule, wake up the next day and nothing. I thought it might be the fact that Vovlo settings have their own schedule internally - I disabled it. It worked. Then it didn’t again. When I looked, something between the app and the car had switched the Volvo’s internal schedule on again. This morning however, that wasn’t the case at all, it was still disabled but the car hadn’t charged. Having just moved I realised that during the season that OVO supplied me with electricity in Colchester they also fitted me with the WRONG Smart Meter as I was on Economy 7. Anyone have a similar problem and did you get a refund?

Is the power move still happening? I've not had an email for weeks..🤷‍♀️

I moved into property with all electric which had Smart meter 1 and economy 7 rate.Smart meter was upgraded to a version 2.I believe this was eventuallycommissioned two days later however since being fitted has not worked correctly.Instead of getting 7 hours off peak to heat water and storage heaters it comes on for 10 mins.I know this as boiler had been checked out and the boiler company tested how long off peak was being supplied.Ovo say its on the correct rate.This had been going on for nearly two weeks and despite an escalated complaint still getting no further forward.No one appears to understand what the issue is.Can anyone help.Thanks  

For the last few years I have been convinced that we were being grossly overcharged in comparison to the amount of electricity we were using. I contacted SSE to ask them to investigate but they repeatedly told me that my bills were what would be expected. Eventually, I got them to install a check meter but they never came back to remove it, so it was removed when we had a Smart Meter installed in July. When I compare the next three months with the same period last year, it is almost half what we paid then, yet our electricity usage pattern has not changed since then.I would add that we have a 12kWh wind turbine, now re-wired through the Smart Meter, and I can’t help but wonder if it was not correctly wired into the previous domestic meter, so that it was not offsetting our usage.Does this sound feasible to others and, regardless, how do I get OVO to finally take me seriously regarding these years extortionate electricity bills? 

I want to know what to do as my payment was ment to be taken on the 22nd but has not. And when I look at my account it say bill pending 

MY IUD says not commissioned, what does that mean. Is it compatable with my meter? i was told by an advisor my Elster meter is old, has it been discontinued? 

I am currently an ovo customer on economy 7.  How do I change to economy 10? 

I check my usage every day - especially as my daughter has started to use the oil heater in her bedroom. However, I have had no usage statistics for Gas or Electric since 14/02. Does anyone know why this might be?

Hi, I have not had anyone round to check my smart meter readings for months and months. I’d like to check the meters match my bills? Is it possible to read them the old fashioned way to check?

My account is over £1200 in credit, but when I have applied for a refund online I'm being told I can't do this until further metre readings and the next statement. This isn't legal - anyone else had this problem?

Hi all  Is there any updates with regards to rolling out alt-han? My meters are too far apart and I know it's been paused due to a safety recall. However it seems dead and no updates to it's progress.  ThanksBen

I have a traditional PAYG electric meter. When the display disappeared I contacted OVO and eventually an engineer put in a new traditional meter.  He inserted the existing key, showed balance, all looked ok. I topped up  later in week, meter did not record top up.  After several hours spent on successive days on Chat, 2 days of phones, one new key and at least half a dozen “codes”, the problem remains.  I topped up again today, my Paypoint receipt clearly shows my correct account number and correct serial number of new meter.  My new key works and meter shows balance etc but will not show how much the top up is, or key in the new balance.  I am desperate, I simply cannot face talking to OVO anymore on Chat or phone and I certainly do not want any more useless codes.  I just need my supply to work.  Please help.  Patricia B

I note the sign up button has now appeared on the link for the new beyond free winter heating customer initiative on the App.As a qualifying electricity only customer I have clicked on the sign up button and received no acknowledgement of registration nor any email acknowledging registration. Is the button not yet live? Or does a single click on the sign up button suffice. Be good to know I’m definitely in. Many thanks for any update. 

Earlier this week the App was showing a headline in Beyond Rewards inferring that Free Hours was returning.  It has now disappeared - is there a prospect of Free Hours coming back or did it appear in error ?

I seem to have an upgrade charge on my bill for last month (oct to Nov). I have signed up to the smart ev charge but surely that’s being paid for in the nov to dec bill?     

What are the charge anytime wait times? Currently up to an hour now on the phones and took 6 weeks to reply to email. What are the best times to call. This is ludicrous, I've had to listen to the Kooks 5 times - that's unforgivable. 

Hi is the support package closed for this year? I tried to fill out the online application but it only takes me so far. When I get to part 4 it asks me to choose which options might help but there are no options displayed.

Ovo web site seems to be down.  Does this happen a lot?  From others experience it looks like ovo don’t like certain emails.  I will report it as a fault.

I have set up an account on the OVO Charge app using the same e-mail address as my OVO account. I am supposed to get a voucher code for £2 off one of the OVO Charge boost memberships for 6 months (effectively making the 'Light' membership free) but I can't see anywhere to get this code. Any ideas??

I'm looking to fit an EV charger in the future but first have to change to Smart meters. I’ve put it off so far as I have concerns that the meters won’t be able to communicate with each other and/or externally due to their locations and hoped the technology would improve with time.The gas meter is in the garage on the original outside wall whilst the electricity meter is in the opposite corner of the property, in an upstairs bedroom cupboard. As such there is ~12m between them, two thick brick walls, a ceiling and two wooden doors.I had hoped that prior to the installation a signal check would be performed to check that both the HAN and WAN would work to allow the Smart meters to be ‘Smart’, not dumb. Hello I have just moved into a one bedroom property (one open plan living area/kitchen downstairs) and one loft space bedroom upstairs. I am electricity only and am racking up useage of £90 a month. I am not using my heating (it's 9° inside!) I'm not using my washing machine or electric shower I can't understand how I'm using so much electricity.  I have been away for work from Monday to Wednesday evening this week and used 29kwh. Is this normal usage for just a fridge, a router and 2 smoke alarms? I'm too scared to put my heating on. I have not lived in an electric only property before so don't really know what is normal monthly expenditure for a one bedroom property? Any help would be appreciated.

I have lived in this apartment for over 3 years now and in that time I have never had a visit from a representative from OVO to read or check the meter despite numerous emails and phone calls to OVO doubting the accuracy of the meter.Over a year ago I booked for a smart meter to be installed thinking this would sort the matter out, I booked a morning off work and the engineer turned up with a meter which wouldn’t fit, He took photos and said he would report back and get another appointment sorted.I sent numerous emails since then, some I got a reply to saying that OVO couldn’t fit a meter at the present time and some emails I never got a reply to !!!A few weeks ago I got a letter from OVO saying they were ready to fit a new smart meter and to make an appointment which I did, I explained on the notes that I didn’t want an engineer turning up with the wrong meter again as I was having to book unpaid time off work, I sent photos of the meter enclosure which had numerous smart meters in it

I have always been aware of the Balance showing on the Homepage of the OVO Website and the Credit showing on my monthly billing. At he beginning of Setember the credit showing after my new bill was £67.53 but the balance showing on the homepage was £104.65. Since I have been aware of this for some time I took a screenshot of my homepage for proof. At the beginning of October my credit was £65.41 with my balance showing the same. They have now been realigned with a subsequent loss to me of £35.00. I confirmed with an OVO advisor yesterday that others had also noticed this so I am posting this to make others aware of this irregularity. I have a complaint outstanding with OVO but not answered. Has this happened to other OVO customers.?
