Do you have Solar Panels & Charge Anytime? We’d love to hear your thoughts

It's an exciting time in the EV and Solar market for customers. We're looking to get some feedback from customers who have Charge Anytime and Solar on what they would like to see if we were able to offer both services at the same time. Currently customers with solar panels are not eligible for Charge Anytime. Charge Anytime works by crediting customers, for each kilowatt hour (kWh) of EV electric vehicle charging that occurs, from their grid imported home energy rate down to 7p. Currently, when customers with solar panels charge their EVs, we can’t tell the difference between imported and self-generated energy, leading to problems with getting credit and rendering them ineligible. We’re looking to solve this and we’d like you to take part in some research.  Are you eligible for this research? A New Chaos - A Greener Future: Part OneBlog

 This was supposed to be a short piece. My apologies in advance to the part of your life you won’t get back after you have  read it but it does a condense a lot of thought and research into one article so I think it’s worth reading. To save time you  can skip the boxes.   This is an personal journal of how the use of energy in one household has evolved over the past few years with a  surprising setback but also an unexpected development and future possibilities for getting towards Net Zero. However,  this is not about how a typical migration might happen. This is about an experiment that was kick started out of the chaos  that was the result of Covid and then Russia invading Ukraine and how it influenced my thinking about how to reduce my  costs with very high energy prices..  ...ContinuedThe diagram is a crude illustration of how the various technologies compare in installation and running costs. The heat pump starts off at a minimum of £500 per year due to the initial cost and that is after the grant. It’s over a £1,000 a year without a grant. The AAHP is standalone, £800 over 10 years. The gas boiler starts off at £4,000 over 15 years but probably 20 as it’s very lightly loaded. It’s only really going to be used on the coldest of days or if the electricity prices are high for some reason. With TRVs (that you can’t use with a heat pump) the gas boiler will only be heating the other rooms in the house as required to balance the heating. You are only asking the AAHP and the gas boiler to do what they do best so the combination is saving both money and gas at the same time. The immersion heater is saving gas on the lowest priced days but it’s capable of storing a certain amount of extra heat (as a  battery) for later use so may save more than is initially es

Getting overcharged on EV charging?

My dad recently bought a VW ID.4 2021 and we had some issues with the OVO charge anytime app so decided to use the app provided by the charger temporarily. The app is showing that he used £105 in November which calculates to around 13p per kWh which seems about right.However if we go on our OVO usage it’s showing we used £360 worth of electricity, we used £40 of electricity last year so even if we minus the £105 from the car it gives us 255 for household which is ridiculous.When I called OVO they said it looks like it’s the car which would mean our app is showing inaccurate and then I was told we were getting charged 24p per kWh. This doesn’t seem right for home charging, when we got the car early November I saw that typical home charging is around 12-15p kWh, can anyone enlighten me here? And if I search about OVO rates nowhere do I see 24p.Also we are charging at night 90% of the time.

Ohme Home Pro 'Charger Data Error'

We have recently had our Ohme Home Pro installed to charge my MG4.We’ve created the account with Ohme, to the letter of how they have told us to! We have added Charge Anytime to our OVO account, but when signing up we get a ‘Sorry, there’s a bit of a problem’ message.Navigating back to our account we then have the ‘Your EV’ tab appear, emailed confirmation too, but then we just get the ‘Charger data error’ message.Are we doing something wrong? According to Ohme our account is set up correctly, and it should appear in the Ohme app after adding through OVO. I’m assuming the error message we get whilst trying the add the add-on is the issue?

Volvo XC90 Recharge not compatible with Charge Anytime?

 I have today changed from a 2021 Xc60 recharge to a new Xc90 recharge, 2024 and am unable to match it to the charge anytime app. I don’t think I have a smart charger, mine is a Shell Home Advanced box. Help! I really want to be able to access the benefits of Charge Anytime.

Volvo recharge 2024 not linking to OVO charge anytime

Hi, I’ve just joined OVO and I’m unable to link my Volvo 2024 Recharge to OVO Charge Anytime. I’ve tried several times but the Volvo app just says sorry, your accounts can’t be paired at the moment. I have the Pod Point which isn’t recognised so the smart charging will be via the Volvo app. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, D

Indra Smart Charger Problems - Left High and Dry

Feel like I have left high and Dry, Surely a Charger is expected to last more than 3 years 9 months?? My Indra charger stop working Suddenly at 10pm on a Sunday night, It has power and Internet and when I plug the charger into the car it starts charging but on the Web Platform it says its charging at 0kwh, it then stops all together after 10 minutes. The car thinks its charging as its flashing Green Light but the actual charger is not getting the Electric to the Car, so I tried boosting because I need to charge the car! Same thing happening its not actually charging but thinks its charging. Reported this to Indra and because I am out of warrant  by 9 months I have been basically told its my problem and there is nothing they can do, personally I don't think they know what the problem can be. Support is non existent and it was me chasing them to try and resolve my issue, would anyone have any ideas why this charger is not sending the electric signal to my car? The problem is not my car a

Preconditioning settings like pre-heat from my BMW EV app not working due to clashing with OVO's Charge Anytime?

Good Morning, I’ve recently added Charge Anytime to our account, however as our charger (Zappi v2) isn’t compatible, I’ve gone down the route of linking the Charge Anytime app directly with the car itself (BMW i4), which is where the problems have started. So to provide context, before we added Charge Anytime, I was using the My BMW app to control the charging, preconditioning and vehicle preferences. In my case I had a schedule set up, so the car would precondition the batteries and warm the cabin prior to departure, however since the Ovo app ‘took over’, the preconditioning functionality has gone haywire. It appears that the schedule I had in place (Mon-Fri 7am departure), keeps being replaced with bizarre times of the day and night (I had a random 3am departure scheduled the other night) and no matter how many times I go back to reset, it keeps happening. Somehow the Ovo app is clashing with the manufacturers app and essentially rendering the preconditioning functionality useless, w

Kaluza app “Profile progress” issue

When I first started charging using the Kaluza web app I completed a section “Profile progress” under the “More” section. Since then this section has always been marked as complete(100%).However, I’ve just looked at it today and it shows as 66% complete. The section that is incomplete is “Tariff details” and when you go to it you see what you expect - “Charge anytime”, with a link to the account and a boost warning . No problem I thought I’ll fill it in again, but you can’t, there is no means to feed it back.Anyone else have this issue or is it just my machine?

MY2025 Porsche Taycan not connecting

I have just changed my Porsche Taycan 4SCT MY2023 for a new Taycan MY2025I have deleted the old car and added the new one. Charge Anytime is connected to My Porsche Account and the App can see the car and the SoC but gets stuck finishing the connection. On the Dashboard screen it says connecting to your Porsche with a wiring circle. The Last update time refreshes and has a green dot.I have charged the car but I get no credit.Is there an issue connecting to Gen 2 model year 2025 Taycans?

problem with Charge Anytime

Hi, I’ve used charge anytime successfully on 3 vehicles. I am now struggling with a new Kona. It won’t charge the car to the settings I put in both apps. Not had this issue before, any ideas?

Why does my EV Pause & Resume charging after removing Charge Anytime?

Hello,While charging my EV,  I have noticed that OVO energy pauses supplying current to the wired wallbox pulsar max charger.This causes the charger to error and it turns red. Then when the current is resumed it turns green and car resumes charging.This was causing me great deal off stress not knowing where fault lied, as I first thought issue was with charger? But thats not the case due to pause and resume - current fluctuation its the chargers behaviour.OVO energy does this when the energy is not green. Today there is no green energy and my EV charger is failing to charge at all?Can you confirm my understanding and provide a resolution?Note : I have not signed up to green energy.Despite uninstalling charge anytime the pause resume persists.Many thanks

Hypervolt Home 3 Pro and Taycan not charging

Ovo, Hypervolt Home 3 Pro and Taycan not charging I have a 2022 Taycan, Ovo Charge Anytime and Hypervolt Home Pro 3.Until recently, I used the Ovo App to control the schedule and set charging limit, such as 75% max.  This mainly worked fine until the car / Porsche / Ovo had a connectivity issue and it wouldn’t charge (which happened 3 times).I have an MG4 arriving this weekend and need the Charge Anytime tariff to work with both cars.  However, Ovo hasn’t built an MG integration.Several days ago Ovo advised that I delete the Ovo app, install it again and then go through the Hypervolt integration route (which didn’t exist earlier this year when I first configured the app).  Which I have done.  In theory, this should be a more stable process because the Hypervolt and Ovo communicate using my home wifi so don’t rely on the Taycan’s 4G (which isn’t great).On my first charge attempt last night, it didn’t charge.However, this morning I could force an “urgent” charge using the Ovo app and tha

We made a mistake on some terms and conditions, your cheaper charging rate is still 7pNews

 Your cheaper charging rate will stay the same. We’re sorry, there was a mistake in the terms and conditions (T&Cs) we recently sent to some of our Charge Anytime customers. It said your Charge Anytime rate was 10p per kWh, but your actual rate is 7p per kWh.  To confirm, you’ll continue to pay 7p per kWh for smart charging with Charge Anytime.  You don’t need to do anything and your access to Charge Anytime will continue as normal. Anyone that received the wrong rate in their terms will be sent a new version of their terms soon.  Thanks,  The OVO Team

Just got a new Dacia Spring. We have a charger to be installed next week and it isn’t an Ovo one. At present, the Spring isn’t listed as a model that is compatible with Charge Anytime. Is there any indication of when (or if) it might be added to the list?

OVO Anytime compatibility sith VW e-Golf?

I'm looking to purchasing a VW e-Golf and trying to find out if it's compatible with OVO anytime. I will be using the standard 3 pin charger. I have read conflicting info. On OVO checker it says not compatible but I'm sure someone on the forum said it was compatible. Also the terms and conditions say it is,https://www.ovoenergy.com/terms/anytime Please can someone clarify?

Looking to purchase a VW egolf 2019. completely new to this EV world.what do I need to consider? 3 pin until I can get a charger installed? Outside temp set up? How to set up your smart charger to use it with Charge AnytimeTutorial

If you have a compatible charger (such as an Indra or Ohme) then you need to link the charger to your OVO online account. You don’t need the additional Charge Anytime app. Ohme have made step by step instructions on how to set up Charge Anytime.We recommend opening your OVO online account in Google Chrome, and following these steps: (If this doesn’t work the first time please try this using a new ‘Incognito’ window) Go to the Offers and Upgrades section. Click on the Charge Anytime banner. Select the compatible charger that you have (Ohme or Indra). It’ll ask you for the username and password to log in to your charger manufacturers’ app. This will link your charger to your OVO account and you’ll get a new heading in your OVO account called ‘Your EV’.  You’ll still need to schedule the charging in your charger manufacturers' app. And after you’ve charged, the savings will show in the Your EV section of your online account. NOTE - If you ‘Boost’ or ‘Max Charge’ on the charger to charge i

Charge Anytime app fails to charge vehicle to set max charge level

Plugged my Renault Zoe into my home charge point at lunchtime yesterday and left the app to do it’s thing. My app settings are Reached by: 09:00, Charge level: 100%.There were multiple charging ‘sessions’ but when the charge finished and I unplugged at 09:15 this morning both the car and the app reported the car’s battery level at only 96%.I’m sure I’ve used the app to charge to 100% previously. What’s going on and is this likely to happen again?

BMW isn’t connecting to Charge Anytime

Charge Anytime was working great with my BMW iX3 until a week ago, then the CA app stopped recognising when my car was connected. I removed the car from the app and when trying to re-add it, got the following, but there’s no way to accept the Ts & Cs. Help please?

2 cars (1EV 1 PHEV) sometimes need to charge both but OVO told me to delete charge anytime app

I have a Ohme charger and a 3 pin that came with the PHEV. I deleted the app as requested, but realise that when charging both, the 3 pin the PHEV won't get the charge anytime as they asked me to remove the connection.Is this the correct thing to have done or should I reinstall the app etc.
