IHD and Meter says I’ve used £2300 of gas this billing period

As per the title my IHD and gas meter are displaying a stupid amount of gas usage (£2302)for the first three weeks of this month. (My total gas usage for May was only £16) In fact £2000 would be approximately 4 years gas usage for my two bed semi detached bungalow. My online account details show a figure which is as expected of £5.13 gas usage for this month.  why such a discrepancy ? also my online account shows readings of 5719 have been sent on 20th 21st and 22nd Juneyet my Ihd and meter display 63769.440 under meter reading.i tried querying with online chat only to be told that consumption varies and basically the meter is a smart meter and will be correct.  Fair enough if the meter is sending in accurate readings,  but if Ovo were to manually read my meter or ask for a manual reading they’d be getting the much higher read.  I did ask if the reading on the IHD is converted at some point to the reading they use their end but was told  no.  My electric meter readings coincide with wh

Issue with Pay - As- You- Meter and Seeking Advice

Hello Everyone,  I am emailing on behalf of my 19 year old daughter who lives alone and has been experiencing difficulties with Pay As You Go Meter since  shifting to this method from pay monthly around 6 weeks  ago.   Since moving to this method, the consumption of both her electricity and gas has gone through the roof. She is a new build one bed upper flat and to date this month has had to find approximately £150 to ensure supplies. She  receives Universal Credit and Ovo are already aware that she is struggling to pay bills. She put £25 on her electricity meter on  Monday evening and there was only £5 credit left by yesterday lunchtime ! She is in debt of approximately £513 to the company but has not formally set up any  repayment plan to  repay this from top ups though I wonder if this is what is happening. She enquired about repaying but was told that  the minimum repayment someone could make was £80 per month which is not feasible for her and seems a way for the creditors to penal

Smart Meter readings

I have a Landis &Gyr Smart Meter E470 and have been told by OVO to submit the Smart meter’s  readings for FEED-in to the grid from my solar panels. How do you do it? I have tried to find such readings but without success. It seems the Smart meter only registers useage and not feed-in to the grid. Can anyone help me please?

No hot water following smart meter installation

HelloA smart meter was installed two weeks ago and since then my overnight Economy 7 hot water boiler has stopped working. Despite asking for an engineer to reattend to check the meter has been installed correctly, OVO have repeatedly stated that I should contact an electrician/heating engineer (not sure which as I am no expert) to assess the issue before they will do anything. I have told them it is their responsibility to do this as the boiler only stopped working after the smart meter installation and I refuse to believe that its break down is an unrelated co-incidence. The storage heaters are working but there appears to be no power going to the hot water boiler as It has two elements neither of which are now working.We have now reached a stalemate and I have had no hot water for over two weeks.  I see from similar threads that this is not uncommon and I am very unhappy at OVO’s lack of customer care. Any advice on how to proceed from those who have had similar issues. Thank you.

1 month in credit by 31/03/26, is this fair?

I've recent renewed my fixed price agreement with OVO with a 1 year fix  running through to 12 June 2026.  My previous agreement would have lapsed prior to 31/03/26, so I was always a bit on the fence with the fairness of the DD calculation by OVO as I figured who could really pin down where variable energy prices and the "cap" prior to this and if I wasn't fixed then 🤷‍♂️. Now however as an OVO customer for 5 years at the same address with a very stable electricity only demand and with a fixed price that goes beyond 31/03/26, I'm questioning the fairness of this DD policy from OVO which is still insisting I have 1 month DD credit by 31/03/26.  In the guide it says this date is chosen to take account of uncertain customer demand through the winter period, but I don't think this fair.  Is this DD pricing policy driven by the energy regulator or is it just a very blunt instrument OVO has chosen to use to reduce their less reliable customer debt.Finally, do OVO intend to roll this date f

Changing name of account holder - no contact with ex-partner

Hello,My partner has resided at their address for numerous years and has always paid their utility bills via their own bank account. Despite this, the account was set up under my partner’s ex’s name, and my partner was supposed to be listed as a ‘joint holder’. My partner’s ex moved out years ago and was domestically abusive to my partner, meaning there is no contact. We still receive e-mails and letters in their name. My partner has tried to contact OVO to have this corrected but was refused. We are worried about this as his account is usually in credit, and we may be moving house soon in the future. If OVO are refusing to change this, what can we do? Thank you,Nini

Direct Debit wrong - Car Charging not taken into account!

I’m getting so very frustrated with Ovo after so many years!Every three months or so I receive an email telling me my DD is increasing to an unaffordable amount (I’m a pensioner only on a state pension). I cannot afford a direct debit of £284!!!!!60% of my usage is charging my car!The direct debit calculations don’t take into account my car charging rebate each month.Each time I actually manage to speak to someone my direct debit is put back down to an affordable amount again. I’m always in credit, check my account every day and, if it’s low, I top it up.I’ve written complaining but no-one has got back to me.

Live chat bot seems to have been hobbled?

For various reasons, I can only submit meter readings via a live chat with an adviser. You have to go through the bot first. This has generally been relatively uncomplicated. However, on the most recent attempt, several conversations were spontaneously terminated by the bot. I was only able to access a human after giving a false answer to a question about pay as you go meters. Anyone else getting this??

Increase in direct debits

Ovo want to increase by direct debits so that I am one month in credit by the end of March next year. I queried this with them as previously the payments were worked out so that the amount was £0 at the end of the 12 month period. They’ve said they have changed their DDM calculations so I have to accept this. I think this is v unfair. Is there any way round this?

 Home and heating
my property is using over 30kwh per day with no heating on (air source heat pump) when no one is in the property - how can i check what is using up the energy?

I have just looked at our usage and don’t understand how over 30kwh is used a day when no one is in the property and over 40 when we are home, with no hearing on? How can I check what’s going on?

CHANGE OF APPS FROM OHME TO OVO - CANNOT CHARGE CAR NOW!

I have an OHME charger for my EV. OVO emailed me and told me that they were stopping use of the OHME app and I needed to install the OVO charge anytime app. I followed their instructions to the letter.3 days running I have tried to charge my car and the OVO app tells me it will be ready by 0700 - scheduled to ensure I get the 7p/kwh. 3 days running my EV has not charged.I have emailed OVO several times but they have not bothered to contact me (quite how they are number 1 for customer service I do not know) even though I have to,d them that I am disabled and they will incarcerate me in my own home as I rely on my car to get out and about.can any one help please? Has anyone else had problems switching apps?

Imperial Gas Meter (6 digits) - Am I billed correctly ?

I am trying to understand my bill from this old Imperial meter and I don’t think it is reading in 100s as the conversion used by company is 2.83. The meter is a 6 digit meter and 1 revolution is 1.11 ft3. The current reading is 840956 but company is taking it as 84095600. The problem is that even in summers (August 24)I am getting 38,000 kWh of bill (92,000 kWh in Jan 25) - 1400 sqm commercial building - instantaneous gas Domestic water heaters and 10 years old 2 condensing boilers (110 kW each). Can any one comment on it ?

THTC new meter installation Highlands

Have 7 dimplex old style storage heaters, hot water cylinder in attic. Located in Highlands Scotland. Assuming I receive a signal, firstly what type of smart meter should OVOvengineer install for economy 10? Secondly, will my dimplex heaters work as before but with the economy 10 times?Thirdly, will my hot water cylinder be heated up as before?Lastly, I'm on a direct debit and would like to only pay for what I use. Can I ask OVO to change my billing?Thanks

rts meter switched - can't go on new tariff

Hi, got rts meter replaced by smart meter yesterday and process went smoothly. I think it is connected through mobile phone signal?When I phoned to arrange the appointment I was asked to choose which tariff I wanted to go on and chose Econ 9.  I was told everything would go on off peak rates at the econ 9 times. However the engineer explained I will still be on the same (expensive) tariff I’ve been on because the off peak will only applh to the storage heaters.I knew that the set up here was that only the storage heaters worked on off peak and the immersion heater or anything else did not.  I just assumed that when the smart meter was connected that would chanage.  The engineer said I would need to get an electrician to connect up the different boxes, he was sorry that he wasnt allowed to do that.  I’m a bit miffed that I got excited about immersion, cooker, shower etc were going to be available on off peak and now they won’t.  I’m in a private let and will see if my landlord will pay

Meter change from economy 7.

Hi, When  we moved into our property it had an old economy seven meter. In 2021 We had an Aclara  smets2 Single rate /reading, smart meter installed by  OVO . The meter is a single rate meter . My issue is that the National data base still hasn't been updated and it still shows an Economy seven meter at our property . Not really a problem if We stay with OVO but we have been unable to get quotes off other suppliers  . Other suppliers are saying that we cannot move to them until the data based is updated .I have requested that OVO do this but am wondering how long this  update  takes and if anyone here has a similar experience.

Smart meter

Had a smart meter fitted in March with a switch from Superdeal to Economy 10. All seems to work well except that the meter is still showing the old Superdeal tariff rates & I have not been charged anything since the March smart meter fitting. I have a credit that covers what I owe. Seems strange to take so long to settle down?

Seven port meters

I’m having issues with my electricity costing much much more (more than double) since switching from RTS complex (3phase) meter, thtc control set up to a five port smart meter (economy 10) Folk on other forums are mentioning that a seven port meter is what is needed for this set up to maintain full functionality. But OVO don’t seem to offer a seven port meter? Or do they and I’ve just not figured it out yet?

Just moved in on PAYG but run out before making account

Moved in on Friday 13th June (haha) and ran out of power on the 14th, I have 2 smart top up cards (1 gas 1 electric) in which I was able to place a top up but the electric is still showing as zero. Anybody have any ideas of how I should proceed? Negligent of my to not have something sorted prior but in the mess of moving on a short time frame things happen  Thank you

Does anyone have any info on Charge Anytime points that launches on Monday? When I joined up I remember something about getting points for keeping you car plugged in for longer. Is this correct and what are the “Points” used for. ThanksBruce

is this RTS?

Any help identifying this would be great! My OVO account doesn't seem to think I have an RTS meter but I have no idea what this is attached to my meter. An engineer came around five months ago after the landlord asked us to fit smart meters, but he informed me the overall meter set up wasn't safe enough for him to do anything with (an unpinned floating block etc). Although the landlord and agency were duly informed they since haven't done anything, and now the radio shut off date is approaching I'm so worried that the landlord's laziness will essentially mean my power is cut off. Thanks for any help!

Sign up for charge anytime before vehicle arrives?

I'm currently waiting for my Cupra Born to be delivered which should be within the next 2 monthsI've got a Hypervolt home 3 Pro charger installed and was wondering if I can sign up for charge anytime now or do I have to wait until my vehicle has arrived?I don't want to miss out on charge anytime incase they stop sign ups before my vehicle arrives.Thanks

i have used no gas in the last 24 hours but my meter has gone up 2 units, why would this be?

I have moved to ovo from early May after moving into a new property and have been sending in regular meter readings for my gas because they are not automatically picked up, in the last 24 hours I have used no gas and my boiler is off but I have noticed the meter today has increased by 2 units, why is this if I haven't used any since previous meter reading was sent

Just setup account today as moved into flat that is supplied by Ovo on 2/6. Logged into account for first time and it says goodbye we are closing your account as you are moving on 3/6.

Just setup account today as moved into flat that is supplied by Ovo on 2/6.  Logged into account for first time today and it says goodbye we are closing your account as you are moving on 3/6! I mean what on earth, it is a new account, it is a new account number different to the one on the letter for the previous tenant that was showed on the The Occupier letter when i first moved in.  As part of setting up the account it gave me a quote of £64 per month for a fixed 1 year and it says it is taking the direct debit on 21st which is what i was expecting so dont understand the message at the top of the dashboard saying we closing your account and i will get a final bill.   Really not impressed if this is going to be a saga from day one.  Guess i will have to contact customer service on Monday.
