Questions to solve

Good morning!I had a smart meter installed on 5th January. This was as an upshot of the RTS switch off. I live in a two bedroom flat middle floor with night storage heaters on Economy 7 tariff. The smart meter display is indicating that I’ve accrued around £17 of electricity use in 48 hours. This seems excessive as I have two night storage heaters linked up to come on during the Economy 7 tariff and a hot water immersion heater timed to come on between 3am and 4am. I spoke with Ovo Energy and the representative mentioned that the data from my smart meter hadn’t been uploaded to their system and could take up to 6 weeks to do so. I’m a little concerned that by 6 weeks I’ll have racked up a significant amount of usage. Prior to this I was using approximately 400 - 450 kWh in the winter months at around £100 a month (with meter readings submitted). Would anyone be able to let me know if the meter takes time to ‘settle down’ or if this could be an issue in the way it’s been installed? Than

I've had an unsolicited letter today (9/1/26) from Engage saying that my meter may not be working properly. Now I did have an old pay as you go key meter until June 2025, and it did stop working. OVO sent a letter. BUT I had a smart meter fitted later that month and since then apart from the signal dropping out occasionally (it always comes back) it's working fine. I've just topped up online via the website to check and the money went on straight away according to the hub. If there was an issue with the meter then surely the hub wouldn't register the payment, as the hub talks to the meter, not my bank card! All payments since June have gone through automatically including the £150 warm home discount. Everything is working fine! Is this just Engage having received an outdated list of old meter owners from OVO? I don't need this stress as I'm autistic and will overthink this massively. 

So in the last couple of months my bill appears to go up very quickly for reasons I don't quite understand I have attached a couple of screenshot to illustrate this in the first 1 you should see an average of £7-£8.per day,but a couple of days later it shows an average of £16ish,granted its been colder so my heating has been on much more but the change makes budgeting for my bill very difficult,this has been happening for the last 2 or 3 months Any tips or pointers on how to keep better watch on what's happening would be much appreciated 

All been working fine. The last night plugged in the car and this morning no charge.  Evec charger just flashes blue. No time slot conflicts. Evec app charger is run by the ovo charge app so can't seem to delete it and reinstate into the ovo charge appIve turned the charger off at yhe mains and restarted it after 30 mins still flashing blue. Why is this so difficult l. I literally just want to plug the f.ing thing on and for it to chargeAnyone have any ideas please

For the past 3 months my bill (Economy 10) has been wrong when it comes to Off-peak energy. Peak energy and Standing Charge are spot on but Off-peak is out by a few pence. Like this:Off-peak energy use 1694.781 kWh at 22.06p £373.95Peak energy use 261.497 kWh at 27.14p £70.97Standing charge 30 days at 59.00p a day £17.70The Off-peak should be £373.87.  There must be a glitch in their software because two specific figures when multiplied gives only one answer!  Anyone else noticed this?My emails to OVO haven’t changed anything so my hope is that a Mod here has access to someone who can actually identify and fix this issue.

Hi, im hoping someone here can point me in the right direction and help me get help resolving this matter. Ive opened 3 complaints within this time and have still bot heard from OVO.i was away in hospital for a while and occurred some meter debt in the process. (Pre paid). i was topping up little by little hoping to get it down to 0 but over the snowy period we had this wasn’t very efficient as they was taking 70% of what i put on for debt. i called up and asked if there was any way i can pay the debt in one (over £100) instead of paying in chinks and receiving little credit, they said i can pay into a OVO bank account which was sent to me via my account email. So i then paid in full. so calling back to confirm this, the line was cut off a few time so i enquired through web chat. by time ive got through to an agent over the phone-call and told my issue, they  advised me that this bank account was wrong and shouldn’t have been sent to me. I have an old SSE IHD with a failing battery, provided when they installed the smart meter years ago. It just shows overall usage, and doesn't really help with accurate monitoring or any kind of budget setting.Can OVO supply a new one with better functionality? Thanks

I was very concerned to receive "confirmation" e-mails from OVO this morning announcing my direct debit will increase automatically next month by £16 per month. This is a 25% increase! I only use roughly 50% electricity and so am roughly 50% in credit at the start of each new period. When I go into comparison with other similar properties, my usage is vastly less. Given we have been and are now in the coldest period and I am still in great credit, I'm furious to see such an increase especially as we start to enter milder conditions as this increase comes into place. 

OVO energy are calculating direct debit amounts based upon having one month's worth of credit half way through the March to April billing period, the 31st of March. This will lead to excessively holding on to customer's money as this demands a large credit balance at a time of year when your credit amount will be lower and a time of month in between billing periods where they will have deducted 2 weeks of usage from your credit balance as well. Not sure if this can be challenged? They are calculating a £300 a month direct debit on my account, £3,600 a year which is £1,700 more than the energy I used in Jan 25 to Jan 26. My average monthly usage for Jan 25 to Jan 26 was £160 a month. What point is a direct debit to smooth payments across the year if it’s higher than your monthly winter usage?! My usage in the winter is approximately £240 per month then around £80 in the summer! I was £150 in credit at the end of the last billing period, this will probably drop to around £80 at the mid M

I'd like to install a 22v EV charger and a kiln at home so it’s probably time for 3-phase electrics - but I have solar panels (inherited rental arrangement) - what are the knock on effects of going 3-phase?Here’s my initial thoughts for things to investigate.  What am I missing and what do I need to consider/ask - and who do I need to involve? Hi Everyone,You may  remember me from last year i was looking for answers regarding having air source heat pump installed as my oil boiler had been condemnedby our housing association. Well we still don't have a heating system but we are looking at Storage heaters and i have been asked to arrange  with Ovo to have a new Smart Meter put in. I already have a smart meter installed just so you all know. I spoke to someone at Ovo last night and he/ she said "you just need to change your tarriff." Is this correct? I need to let my housin association know fairly sharpish so if anyone is around to let me know that would be great!!You were all so helpful to me before which i was so grateful for i thought i would speak to you all first before speaking to an Ovo official if you  get my drift! Then i'll know what to expect.....thank you once again hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!

How do I submit my monthly gas reading using my account ? 

Hi, I have recently purchased a mixed-use property in Southampton comprising a commercial shop on the ground floor and a self-contained residential flat on the first floor.Historically, the shop and flat had separate electricity supplies/meters, however the previous owner disconnected the flat meter and combined the flat supply into the shop meter. I now need to reinstate a separate supply for the flat so it can be let independently.All wiring is still in place and the local DNO (SSEN) has confirmed there is a pre-existing MPAN for the flat which is currently showing as de-energised on the national database. SSEN have advised that this MPAN can be re-used and that I should contact OVO Energy (as OVO are currently listed against that MPAN) to arrange: re-energisation of the supply installation of a new meter However, I am struggling to find the correct OVO contact details or the right department to deal with this type of request.For information, my company will be the landlord for the

I have two EV’s both added on OVO Charge. Up till around a week ago all has been well, both cars have smart charged just fine. I am now finding that smart charging does not always work. What seems to happen is I plug in an EV and charging starts but does not then get stopped/started under OVO Charge control. The effect of this is that I get charged full rate (as opposed to the 7p VAG deal rate).

Have had numerous issues, multiple chats/calls with OVO CA team, with charging Volvo EX40. Had OCA app and Volvo app car charged fine but was being double billed as running via both OCA and Volvo app. Instructed to remove OCA app and only charge via Volvo app which is connected to charge anytime for 7p kwh rate. Now car will not charge at all even though in Volvo App shows plugged in and ready for scheduled start, wake up 0% added. Now trying to establish if have Hypervolt charger in Plug & Charge or Scheduled mode (no schedule added as set in Volvo app), any help please?

Hi, I have a Renault megane Etech car. I have been charging it with the 3 prong plug since Christmas on the charge anytime pay as you go. I finally got my hypervolt box fitted and I am struggling.  everything is connected however the app is waiting for the car, and not charging. Does anyone know the best way to use this box/car on OVO?  also my partner has a Mercedes Ev and it charged from my home but despite adding the vehicle to the OVO app it didn’t record it as charged.  Thanks 

Morning I am looking for some advise as my smart meter in my house has been showing credit available of £19.34 for the last 5days and it sounds like it is stuck and won't allow me to top up.I have checked my main power box out side my house and this display the amount of £19.34.I am just a bit worried at these figures as I work from home and I'm needing to have a supply of electricity and have a fear of getting cut off or have a large amount of dept that I will have to pay as I can't see if I am in credit for my Pay As You Go meter.Unfortunately the plastic smart card that I can use as an alternative was lost a while ago so I can't use that as an alternative. Please advise what I can do  

Hi, as the title suggests.I just moved to this one bed flat by myself.I actually lived in this flat for a total of 7 days in December, before leaving abroad for work and came back today (3 weeks later). I was checking the usage via the app and for the first few days after I left it was normal and as expected by an unoccupied flat. But then usage started going crazy, to the point that some days usage was more than when I was actually in the flat.Before leaving the flat I checked and everything was unplugged. Also the electric heating was off.The flat is supposed to be EPC C if that makes any difference.Any ideas what might have happened?thanks.

I’m getting quite confused with solar & battery used with anytime.Is this even possible on ovo? I seem to think I might be best changing to octopus, we are looking at getting solar and a Powerwall 3 installed, we are currently using charge anytime with an indra pro and the more I look the more i’m confused if we can A: actually charge the car when excess solar, assuming we generate enough, B: use any kind of time of use tariff with anytime to charge the battery at a cheap rate C: have this battery boost addon with a Powerwall? I can’t even see battery boost any ware on my ovo page, D: Export rate prices, I think ovo will pay 12p excess for a install not done by them?

Hi, Thanks for reading. I have a dumb prepay meter, which I have been topping up with the prepay card. However, for some reason, about a month ago I was put on a pay monthly plan without my knowledge. I now owe £97 on this account, even though I have kept my prepay meter in credit.I have also had a letter asking me to book a engineer visit to look at my gas meter. When I tried to book the visit, I explained the situation to the customer service team, and was told to ignore it and send pictures of my gas and electric meters over email - they would then verify the meters that way. I have done this, but I have received no follow up email, and no action has been taken regarding changing my account back to prepay. How do I get my account back to just prepay? Thanks in advance.

Hi, hope someone can help. Had a new pre paid gas meter installed last Monday after mine had failed. Unfortunately OVO have not supplied a new card as they said they would, shops they stated stoke them don't. Fortunately I have located a shop with OVO cards, OVO have sent me 2 codes that don't bloody work...what fo I do know?? And to top it all the customer service personally said he couldn't help me due to his shift finishing in 2 minutes 😱😱😱😡😡😡 can someone help. 

Hi I pay £37.50 a month for home charging. I now have £120 available to me for public charging. Can anyone advise me how I use my public charging credit as it's not clear to me.Thanks

Periodically actual meter readings are issued in time for the billing period to accurately reflect usage (Monthly charges). When estimated readings are used in the charging calculation , there may be a meter reading that is a reduced amount from the estimated reading used the month before. That may mean a “credit” is due to be taken into account in the calculations. Why would the prior months’ estimated usage be used as the starting point in the following month, and not the actual reading issue.
