Questions to solve

Hello,I have been using the New Ovo app for payg and I logged in to top up and my meter balance has disappeared.  I went and topped up online instead, but the app keeps saying an error has occurred.  Do you know if anything is wrong with the app as the Top Up website is working OK.  The app still has all my other details there but not my meter balance so I cannot top up on app.  Thank You for any replys.  It says error 404 if that helps.

I went for a 1 year fixed rate economy10 last August & all was working well until yesterday when Ovo suddenly without any notice or consultation changed me back to a variable plan & the different higher charges from August. What on earth is going on!

There are 5 meters in this property (3 Phase supplies). Each meter servicing a different potion of the property. (Underfloor heating , Lighting, Utilities and defunct equipment on the property). The billing reflect MPAN numbers for Heating meters (3) and separate meters for Lighting(2). The supplied monthly bills do not detail which meter reading (actual or estimated) relates to which meter. In order to establish reading data to each meter i am keeping a separate spreadsheet. Could these bills not show “Meter - Reading “ for each meter with their MPAN no alongside?

I have two EV’s both added on OVO Charge. Up till around a week ago all has been well, both cars have smart charged just fine. I am now finding that smart charging does not always work. What seems to happen is I plug in an EV and charging starts but does not then get stopped/started under OVO Charge control. The effect of this is that I get charged full rate (as opposed to the 7p VAG deal rate).

i’m old, stupid & clumsy - knocked the remote control box on the floor. box on wall lost communication with it. RC box display is blank, so power is lost. Need to get inside to fix broken wire. How?

Hi, I had credit on my public charging voucher from my month i was with ovo. I have since left and the credit has disappeared too ? Is that normal as the voucher had a longer expiry code and I was entitled to that voucher 

I’m looking for recommendations for a Gas Safe engineer in the Nottingham area who specialises in commercial installations.We currently have a domestic G4 gas connection (max ~65kW), but we need to upgrade to a U16 meter to support a 112kW load. We are finding the process with Cadent quite slow and are looking for a regulated professional who can: Advise on/handle the pipeline upgrade for commercial use. Ensure everything is fully compliant for future supplier inspections. Hi, hope someone can help. Had a new pre paid gas meter installed last Monday after mine had failed. Unfortunately OVO have not supplied a new card as they said they would, shops they stated stoke them don't. Fortunately I have located a shop with OVO cards, OVO have sent me 2 codes that don't bloody work...what fo I do know?? And to top it all the customer service personally said he couldn't help me due to his shift finishing in 2 minutes 😱😱😱😡😡😡 can someone help. 

On 29 December 2025 I sent an Official Complaint under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 to Ovo Energy stating that I have never been a customer of Ovo Energy and that they must stop sending threatening letters and demands to the "Occupier" at my new address.  Ovo, in an auto reply, said that they would respond to my complaint "in no later than 2 working days". Ovo has never replied.I then posted a complaint on trustpilot and Ovo replied on 9 January 2026 saying:I'm really sorry to hear about the ongoing issues you're having and any inconvenience caused on our part. Just so you know, as the bills are addressed to 'The Occupier' you wouldn't be expected to pay this. I'd advise speaking with your Landlord or Lettings Agency so that they can trace the final bill back to the previous tenant and then the letters addressed to 'The Occupier' will stop being sent to your property.  I replied to Ovo the same day and told them that Ovo already had all the information regarding The Lettings

Hello,I bought 2 Ken Carson tickets for the 16/03/26 event, this was on 18/12/25 have an email showing details of them on Ticketmaster but cannot see anything on AXS or OVO apps and I am concerned (edited by moderator).I need confirmation please that will get these two tickets, also took out insurance? I await your confirmation on the same. Kind Regards,Anthony Fielding

Hello as of yesterday the light on my smart meter is constantly blue and it's been making a constant beeping noise even though the signal seems fine and the battery seems ok and there's 10 days credit 

We've recently moved to an apartment 10 days ago. Looks like its an all electric apartment. We only have one heater on and its set at 15-16C. We only cook(induction) once a day and have only used the washing machine three times. But based on the smart meter readings we are averaging 30+ kwh per day. We've kept heating to a minimum (just the bedroom heater is on), no heating in living room at all. No other appliances like TV is used. I have a laptop that I charge for approx 2 hours then unplugged for the rest of the day. The apartment is on Economy 7 so the smart meter give 2 readings. From Jan 12 to 15, no one is in the apartment but still there's electric consumption of approx 5kwh per day.  My previous apartment I only consumed approx 150kwh per month so I'm confused as to why I used 200kwh for one week. Is there any reason for this? Maybe the meter is faulty?  

I cannot access the app, this morning I’ve had to change my password on the website and when I try and access the app I cannot even change my password on there

Hi. Does anyone know if there is going to be anything to replace the free 2hrs gas per week on Beyond? I usually find out after it's already started as I don't get notified and only find out because I accidently come across it in the forum. I miss out on the first couple of weeks because unless I re-download the app it doesn't show on there either.Any heads up would be appreciated. TIA.

Good morning!I had a smart meter installed on 5th January. This was as an upshot of the RTS switch off. I live in a two bedroom flat middle floor with night storage heaters on Economy 7 tariff. The smart meter display is indicating that I’ve accrued around £17 of electricity use in 48 hours. This seems excessive as I have two night storage heaters linked up to come on during the Economy 7 tariff and a hot water immersion heater timed to come on between 3am and 4am. I spoke with Ovo Energy and the representative mentioned that the data from my smart meter hadn’t been uploaded to their system and could take up to 6 weeks to do so. I’m a little concerned that by 6 weeks I’ll have racked up a significant amount of usage. Prior to this I was using approximately 400 - 450 kWh in the winter months at around £100 a month (with meter readings submitted). Would anyone be able to let me know if the meter takes time to ‘settle down’ or if this could be an issue in the way it’s been installed? Than

I've had an unsolicited letter today (9/1/26) from Engage saying that my meter may not be working properly. Now I did have an old pay as you go key meter until June 2025, and it did stop working. OVO sent a letter. BUT I had a smart meter fitted later that month and since then apart from the signal dropping out occasionally (it always comes back) it's working fine. I've just topped up online via the website to check and the money went on straight away according to the hub. If there was an issue with the meter then surely the hub wouldn't register the payment, as the hub talks to the meter, not my bank card! All payments since June have gone through automatically including the £150 warm home discount. Everything is working fine! Is this just Engage having received an outdated list of old meter owners from OVO? I don't need this stress as I'm autistic and will overthink this massively. 

Hi, as the title suggests.I just moved to this one bed flat by myself.I actually lived in this flat for a total of 7 days in December, before leaving abroad for work and came back today (3 weeks later). I was checking the usage via the app and for the first few days after I left it was normal and as expected by an unoccupied flat. But then usage started going crazy, to the point that some days usage was more than when I was actually in the flat.Before leaving the flat I checked and everything was unplugged. Also the electric heating was off.The flat is supposed to be EPC C if that makes any difference.Any ideas what might have happened?thanks.

I’m getting quite confused with solar & battery used with anytime.Is this even possible on ovo? I seem to think I might be best changing to octopus, we are looking at getting solar and a Powerwall 3 installed, we are currently using charge anytime with an indra pro and the more I look the more i’m confused if we can A: actually charge the car when excess solar, assuming we generate enough, B: use any kind of time of use tariff with anytime to charge the battery at a cheap rate C: have this battery boost addon with a Powerwall? I can’t even see battery boost any ware on my ovo page, D: Export rate prices, I think ovo will pay 12p excess for a install not done by them?

Hi, Thanks for reading. I have a dumb prepay meter, which I have been topping up with the prepay card. However, for some reason, about a month ago I was put on a pay monthly plan without my knowledge. I now owe £97 on this account, even though I have kept my prepay meter in credit.I have also had a letter asking me to book a engineer visit to look at my gas meter. When I tried to book the visit, I explained the situation to the customer service team, and was told to ignore it and send pictures of my gas and electric meters over email - they would then verify the meters that way. I have done this, but I have received no follow up email, and no action has been taken regarding changing my account back to prepay. How do I get my account back to just prepay? Thanks in advance.

Hi I pay £37.50 a month for home charging. I now have £120 available to me for public charging. Can anyone advise me how I use my public charging credit as it's not clear to me.Thanks

Hi I still have old type gas meter ! Smart electric no one near me has smart gas meter as there all set partly in the ground ?so if I can’t have smart meter why when they do a promotion can’t it be set to my electric as if I didn’t have gas ??  also why here why does it say ever time I try to log in incorrect password and it’s kept kin key chain ???  Thanks In Advance ☺️  

I have a SMETS1 meter (software upgraded to SMETS2). What happens now that 3G (mobile) has reached end of life? Can it be upgraded with a new SIM?

I had a default of £1,775.85. I paid that today in full by bank transfer. When will that be updated to 0 balance and settled? I'm in hospital and never check my credit file until recently, so I'm paying my defaults off.

Guess I just miss out on any possible OVO Rewards etc… because I don’t have a mobile phone..???

After being moved from quarterly to monthly billing last year, I usually receive an email showing the amount to pay shortly after the bill end date each month, after which I proceed to pay.  However, I have not received the usual email last month, even though My OVO account shows the bill available for the corresponding period. When I was on quarterly billing, the OVO customer service team confirmed that I only had to pay after receiving the ‘Your bill is ready’ email (every 3 months), even if My Ovo account showed interim bills available. I’m not sure if this still applies now or not.
