Questions to solve

I have read up on the change in calculations, but our new direct debit makes no sense.We have £358 credit. We had a DD of £115. We usually have 65-85 usage per month between April and September, and £135-140 a month when the heating goes on.With the existing DD of £115, that means we would be at a generously rounded £220 credit come April 2026.Our DD was now set to £153, which exceeds our actual maximum usage of the last few years. That would bring us to a whopping £420 credit at the end of March.I tried to change it back to £115, but the system insists we will not have a month’s worth of credit.Can someone please manually change the direct debit back to the old amount? If not, what are my options other than cancelling the DD entirely and paying bills on demand, even taking a potential tariff increase into account? I would prefer to stay on DD, but not with forced overpayments that build unnecessary credit balances. I know OVO is currently having trouble proving that it’s crisis proof,

Hello, So my plans when installing a 8kw solis hybrid inverter and 16kwh lifepo4 battery were not for export, just a protection for blackouts (the house now runs on UPS). It is also a first step to lower electricity expenses, as they will only grow when we get an ASHP. Eventually we may add some PV.  Our battery install is ready.  🙂Since our DNO uk power networks stated they would approve us to do 5kw export, taking the next step while it was all fresh seemed simpler.  I now have an export MPAN, actually with 8kw approved. Our smart meter is export-ready. But we do not have MCS nor flexorb (as I had no plan to export now, I saved the expense).  Is there an advantage to get MCS paperwork vs short-circuiting and setting up export to an utility operator that does not require it? Or is there anything to gain with MCS?  😉 

I've recently switched suppliers but my Hypervolt charger needs me to remove the schedule from the OVO app. The OVO app looks to have removed me from the plan already. What do I do?

Can OVO say whether the removal on 1 April 2026 of the cost of the ECO and most of the RO will benefit all their customers, regardless of the type of plan they’re signed up for? We learned that curtailing these costs will lead to a £134 reduction in the typical medium-consumption household’s annual energy bills. It’s impossible to work out whether these costs are currently covered by unit rates or standing charges, and no-one seems to know how suppliers are going to act to reduce bills. Am I going to have to pay a £75 exit fee to escape from a fixed-rate tariff so I can earn - how much? Does anyone know what OVO is going to do?

Hi guys, we have a heat pump system and between 0000 - 0700 our electricity usage is between 840Wh and 1.91kWh. Everything in the house is off and our hot water isn’t due to come on until 0700 so I’m scratching my head as to what it can be. It’s normal to wake up to my smart reader showing over £3.00 used by 0700 so have to sort it!

Hi Had to change to smart meter due to telesignal switch off. Used to have total heating total control. Economy 7 doesnt heat my storage heaters enough. Requested change to single rate and ecaul sent to energised port 5 all the time. Ovo have refused this to send ecaul after changing to single rate. Its cold and don't know what to do next any help would be really appreciated at this time. 

Hi,I have recently had a Vaillant aroTherm Plus heat pump installed, which is eligible for the Heat Pump Plus add on.I have entered all details in the eligibility checker and got a message back saying that OVO will get in touch in the next 5-7 days. It has been more than 3 weeks and I haven't got any correspondence with OVO.I have sent an email to OVO, and also I have been redirected to Heat Pump department but the line just drops after a while.I have exhausted all communication channels to get to some one to no avail.Any recommendations as what to do now? Basically their tariff is the main reason I signed up with OVO but I cannot do a simple thing of adding their tariff.

My old RTS Meter (for off peak heating only) was switched off years ago - anybody in the same boat and waiting for a replacement?

I received my Warm Home Discount a few weeks ago so I called Ovo to tell them I would be cancelling my dd due to being in credit. The lady I spoke with didn't disagree with me. But now I'm getting phone calls from them, and when I called them today to lower my dd as my usage is far less than my monthly payment. The person I spoke with said he could get it down to £90 from £123 but only if I set my dd up starting this month. Apparently if I wait until I have used the credit then set the payments back up it will cost more.Looking at the ovo app to set up a new dd is going to cost nearly £145 per month!Any thoughts on this anyone?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice or shared experiences regarding OVO not sending a traditional gas meter card. I recently moved into a property that has a traditional pay-as-you-go gas meter. Over the past couple of months, I have requested a gas top-up card a total of five times—roughly one request per week and I haven't received anything.  I raised a complaint as well, but still nothing!! Has anyone else experienced an issue with OVO repeatedly failing to send a gas top-up card?

We've had updated Dimplex storage heaters (Quantum QM100RF etc)  for 2 months now, and there’s one thing that isn't good. The kitchen has a patio door. In fine weather the sun comes through it in the afternoon and heats up the room a lot for an hour or more. We are on Economy 10, with its afternoon charging time coinciding with the most heat from the sun  to this room. The heater’s smartness seems to decide to stop charging it up with heat for later. I suppose it “thinks” that it's warm weather outside so it won't need to output much heat later.  That’s been OK until recently, when on some days it’s been sunny but very cold outside (freezing yesterday). The result is that the Quantum heater runs out of heat early in the evening.  The other rooms are shaded from the sun, and their heaters’ output fully all evening. Is there any way in which I can influence it to input energy more during this afternoon off-peak period?  I cant see any settings that let me. PS   various leafets, instructi

Anyone know how to get through to speak to someone competent regarding an issue with my closed account for which I have an incorrect final bill which has now been moved to collectionsI’ve made several formal complaints about it and got the complaint reference numbers but no one has ever contacted me about them.Every time I phone up to speak to them I am told the complaints handler will be in touch within 24-48 hours and they never are.In the meantime, I am phoned, texted and emailed daily by the Collections Department, I have called them back numerous times to explain the situation but they can’t/won’t do anything about it as that is “the process” The Customer Service person I just spoke today to told me that every time I make a new complaint about no one calling me about my previous complaint, the clock gets reset as the previous complaints are effectively deleted as being duplicate complaints.The incompetence is astounding, I’d find it funny if they weren’t threatening to pass the in

Been using Ohme for nearly 2 years without issue. Put my car on charge last night and woke up to a message saying no power to charger. Followed Ohme advice to drop the breaker etc which didn’t resolve anything. Rang Ohme who said that because I bought it through OVO I had to contact them. Spoke to a helpful advisor at OVO who thought I should speak with Ohme … long story short OVO are coming to look at it on the 9th December. I’m presently Granny Charging but just wondered if anyone else has had a similar issue? It charged for 3 KW before dropping. I was half expecting to see a tripped breaker but I’ve checked them all. BTW Ohme state that charger looks ok when they checked it online…..

Hi, I signed up to move over to OVO yesterday and gave all my details for Heat Pump Plus. But was emailed today saying they’ve paused onboarding new customers.Can anybody give any reason for this all timescales ?   

It seems like constant issues for everyone involved. I've given up at this point, as it's clear they have major internal problems and aren't being honest. My bills and readings are consistently incorrect, and the amounts on my emails and online account statements never match up. Was only able to access online account couple of months ago. They’ve even claimed I didn’t have an account until September last year, despite having been with them since 2023, with statements sent to my email to prove it. One previous statement even said I owed £5,000 for a single month! I live in a 3-bedroom house with one adult and two children—hardly the kind of usage that would result in that amount. If, after two years of complaints and multiple attempts to contact them, they still can’t explain or provide accurate bills, then I simply don't understand how my direct debit has been stopped. This has been going on for far too long.

Hello everyone, not an OVO customer but seems a good forum for advice…Yesterday had my old multi rate electricity meter swapped out for a Landis e470 smart meter. Last night my economy 7 didn't activate to heat up my storage heaters or hot water. I live in a flat and the meter is in the meter room so don't have the smart meter display. With my old meter economy 7 activated at 00:30 until 07:30. Also turned on and off with a clunk from the consumer unit. I did verify with the engineer who installed the meter if economy 7 would work the same as before and he said yes. Is this likely going to be because the meter is new and still needs commissioning? EDF customer support isn't open weekends so just after some advice until I can contact them. Thanks in advance.Old and new meter photos attached

Good morning I have recieved the letter from the government to say im entitled to the warm home discount,  but it was sent to my previous address, I have rung them to say it's the wrong address but they said they can't change it, will I need to ring ovo to get this sorted out, or will i not get it , what do I need to do  Shelley 

Here is an extract from the table showing my gas usage yesterday evening. As you can see, two values are recorded: 8.30pm and 9pm. If usage is recorded at 8.30pm, does this show what has been used between 8pm and 8.30pm or what has been used between 8.30pm and 9pm?

Why has my online account lost my meter reading history for my non-smart gas meter?I note that the font has changed on the entry page, so OVO must have made a change to this feature and now that they have made that change, my previous readings have all disappeared.Is this a bug, or a new feature?Do other people see this issue? 

Hi this is the same question I had before BECAUSE I'm getting conflicting info. I took delivery of a Skoda Enyaq in January and I asked if the 7p kWh hour would apply to me . I was told to email charge anytime team (which i did) but was answered on the forum and I was advised I would just keep going with the 7p.I thought I'd double check because when charge anytime did finally respond after 6 weeks and made no mention of the 7p but said I need to register for the free miles. So I contacted OVO via telephone and the agent advised I would need to register my cars SLI order number to qualify. I eventually found it and entered it via the link and was advised it could take 2 weeks. So I contacted OVO again yday and after an 1hr 15 wait an agent (nice guy) advised that I would only be eligible if the car was purchased after the 1st of Jan 2025. So today I received this: So my question is have the OVO agents got confused and will I be staying on 7p kWh but I won't be getting the free 2000 mil
