Questions to solve

I've received an email from OVO re a refund on my old PAYG account (something to do with an Ombudsman decision) followed by another one from Paypoint telling me to click a link to get the refund transferred into my account.  Is this genuine?  I've since moved (2024) and there's a normal meter where I am now.  Thanks

Hi please can someone help advise whether Ovo will install an additional GivEnergy battery for me to extend my system.I believe GivEnergy are no more , so once physically installed how do you configure the battery as I understand that GivEnergy needed to send some instruction to the inverter any help and guidance really appreciated Thanks colin  

had old gas meter with £118 credit..gas went off went to check it said faulty battery phoned ovo got engineer out to replace it..when I asked for the credit to be put back on my new meter they said the engineer's report said there was no credit on my old meter but it was just reading faulty battery nothing else no reading..nothing..ovo said as I have no proof of topping up..we are payg they won't credit it back on our meter..very frustrating...any idea's 

I have a SMETS2 meter and a 10 kWh Fox ESS battery. Phone support told me I can't switch to Economy 7, but I would like for winter grid-charging. Can a forum moderator help me push through a remote profile class change(i belive this is what its called?)? Also once im in economy 7, are there specific tariffs that would work with a 10KW battery setup? Many Thanks Raf 

Please can someone tell me what the new Export Tariff is from 1st April 2026. My advice email tells me the new FIT tariff but not the the new Export Tariff. What is the RPI increase date that OVO use? Any help please. 

The email I received from OVO on 17 July 2026 informed me that my Direct Debit has gone up by 29.8%.It says “These are the possible reasons for why your payments need to go up”, and lists all the possible reasons Obviously the new price cap is one reason, but how can I tell whether any of the others apply, and what those effects amount to?My latest bill shows that, as of 1 July 2026, my electricity price went up by 6%, and my gas price by 28%. Daily charges for both are down very slightly.Given that I do use electricity - about 1/3 of a typical winter bill - it seems likely that the increase in my Direct Debit is not fully explained by the increase in the Price Cap. Hence, I’d like to know, or be able to work out, what the other factors are. The email from OVO does not help me do that.Regards, George 

My gas account is not showing on the new OVO account i had to download, my electricity one is there. I can not top up with out this, i have tried doing rhis through the online chat but it was useless and i was told to add the accunt by hitting the + sign ,but that is just to top up electricity. Can anyone help me.resolve this please

Hello, Some time ago I put a post on here regarding underfloor heating with a smart meter. As I said I have two meters one of which is a radio signal one which is permanently connected and has not shut down with the switch off. I did have a smart meter booked but as they wanted to put me on economy 9 I after some thought cancelled it. I have since found out that a neighbour had  a similar set up to me but is not with Ovo. His provider has fitted two smart meters, one for standard electricity and one for underfloor heating and hot water. This seems like the best arrangement for myself. Is this something that Ovo can and would do. Thank you all.

My gas account is not showing on the new OVO app, i can not top up without it

I signed up for power move months ago and it always said updating settings come back in 48 hours,I left power move and tried to sign back up but now it says couldn’t update setting,check your connection, any idea on how to get past this

Has anyone downloaded the new app & got an unexpected credit into your balance? I’m hoping it’s just an expected thing and not a mistake but scared to death I’ll be hit with a bill for their error if it’s a mistake. I’ve had a similar issue with this in the past so extra nervous. I do usually get a winter payment but not usually in the summer 

Hello. Recently moved into a rented property with £47 of Emergency credit on the gas meter. Was given guidance by Ovo over the phone to take my gas card to a paypoint for a Zero Vend. Had no idea what to do after that as it wasn’t explained. Since then i have bought gas via the card and topped up only for the Emergency credit to now show £ 41.  No idea what is going on or where I’ve gone wrong?? Any help greatly received! :)  Thanks  Ste

Beware this company and their shady practices. As a long-term ill and vulnerable customer OVO kept overcharging me by upping my direct debit without my knowledge or consent, when they had my meter readings, so knew that there was no need to do so and ran up a credit i.e overcharged me to the tune of £5,000+ When I tried to get my, erroneously taken money, back they proceeded to draw it out over 3 months up to the limit you are supposed to wait before reporting them to the energy regulator, in a cynical ploy, to hold onto my money for as long as possible presumably, hoping I would die in the process whereupon they would just keep it. Their conduct was beyond the pale including texting me to say that they were about to call me and when I answered they hung-up. Telling lies, not responding appropriately and harbouring what I can only describe as a form of malice, just because I wanted my own money back. All of which makes me wonder how many other customers are they choosing to do this to?

Why is it that every time I try to log into the app I get the message - there was a problem logging in.  Please try later.  Now when I set this up I logged in with my finger print.

my online account not showing readings 

I’m due to move into a property where the current tenant has a PAYG OVO account. They won’t be using OVO in their next home.Does anyone know whether an existing OVO account can have the name changed to a new tenant, or must a completely new account be created?If the previous account is closed, is there any time limit on opening a new account for the same property? Could the property be disconnected from electricity or gas supplies after some period without any active account?Thanks!

I was asked today to dl the new top app by ovo to manage my account and top up but when I logged in to my account only my gas account is on there no sign of my electric so I can't top up my electric does anyone know a fix for this problem.   

HiI have OVO and booked an appointment for my gas and electric smart meters. The engineer said toilet pipes and other pipes were too close and couldn’t install.I want to get an EV charger, will it still work with the OV smart electric tariff if I don’t have a smart meter? Thanks 

I installed the new OVO Energy app yestersay after emails about the top up service moving to it. Having installed and registered I've found it to be a nightmare ever since. Both my smart top up electric and gas meters don't appear, the profile shows an incorrect old address I haven't lived in for over 5 years but if I select to update my personal details, the correct address shows. Luckily I didn't uninstall the previous top up app but currently there seems to be no sign of the new app updating with my correct details? It's showing bill dates and syates my property has no active connection if I click meter readings. Is this normal and should I wait longer for stuff to appear or is there a major issue?

To get the most out of the ‘free’ hours, we have to do one of two things:Do something expensive during a free hour that we would otherwise do at some other time, or Do something during a free hour that we wouldn’t normally do at all.(1) means that the activity involved could cost ~25p less than otherwise. (2) means we’re getting something for nothing.It’s rare that I use 1kWh in any hour, with a couple of exceptionsUsing the electric shower. At 9kW, it’s the greediest appliance I have. From September to May, I have to defrost the bathroom using its 2kW wall-mounted fan heater to make it bearable in there. I haven’t needed to do that every time for the past few weeks, but it’s still uncomfortable if I don’t.  Every couple of weeks, I do a frozen pizza - 16-18 minutes at 200ºC. Even less frequently, I do a plateful of frozen oven chips as a treat for supper - 20 minutes at 220º. These activities can cost up to 1kWh each, showing up as an alarming spike on the half-hourly usage chart.  I
