Upcoming Heat Pump Plus Trial

What is it?We’re launching the UK's first nationwide heat pump flexibility trial, where heat pumps automatically reduce energy use during peak demand without affecting your comfort or heating.  This trial will help us understand how we can use smart tech to improve the grid for a greener future. We'll be offering this trial from mid November throughout winter. We’ll be collecting data about energy consumption and how this level of flexibility impacts customers.  We’re working with Nesta, the UK’s social innovation agency. Nesta’s aim is to find new ways to tackle society's big problems in education, the environment and health. Customers who take part in the trial, which includes completing a few surveys and interviews, will receive a £100 shopping voucher from Nesta at the end of the trial period. Who is eligible? To take part in the trial customers will need to have a compatible Vaillant aroTHERM 3 post 2016 or an aroTHERM Plus heat pump with a connected myVAILLANT Connect internet ga

Applied for OVO's smart export guarantee (SEG) - how long till it's set up?

Having installed our solar panels, we applied to receive the OVO Smart energy guarantee payments and sent the requested initial export meter reading on the 12th July, which will be seven weeks ago tomorrow. We were told that we would receive the welcome email within four weeks from receiving this initial meter reading.Is it normal to have to wait this long? I cannot speak to the SEG team by phone and any email sent just gets a standard reply that a response will be within 15 days.Getting frustrated now Malcolm

Comparing usage with similar homes

It may be helpful for customers to see how their own energy consumption compares with other people’s in similar circumstances, possibly even prompting a change in behaviour in order to keep up with the Joneses. OVO now provides two options for seeing this comparison: under Energy insights in the online account, and under Usage in the shiny new app. I don’t really expect my usage pattern to match anyone else’s, because I don’t expect there are many more just like me in this part of the world. However, I would expect the ‘similar homes’ to be reasonably similar in the two places. Sadly, they’re wildly different:  Usage in kWh per weekA click on the image should bring up a more legible version The divergence between my own usage pattern (the green bit) and everyone else’s is difficult enough to explain, but I put it down to my being eccentric 🙂. However, the variance between the blue fields is quite striking, and indicates that there are totally different parameters applied to arrive at

Warm Home Discount is late- Got a letter saying it would be paid in November?

I'm at the end of my tether with OVO. I applied for the Warm Home Discount on 04 Oct 23, and I received an e-mail on the same day saying I had qualified for it and I would receive it by 15 Nov 23. I still haven't received it. I've spent the last 2 weeks phoning, e-mailing and having web chats with OVO. I've been given excuse after excuse why I haven't received it, all of them different. I thought I was getting somewhere about 1 week ago when I spoke with an OVO staff member who went through my application with me and told me everything was in order and that I should have received it. He said he'd look into it and get back to me, but I never heard from again. I've tried to complain, but I get generic replies. One staff member from the complaints team e-mailed me yesterday saying she has tried to call me but can't get through. She tried to call me once and she left a voicemail. The number she left to call her back was a general number and when I phoned it, they had no idea who she was or

Smart Meter - domestic economy 7 to fixed single rate tariff no way back to peak off-peak tariff once change is made?

We had a smart meter installed Aug 24 and at the same time moved from the THTC tariff to the standard variable dual rate tariff (replaced storage htrs with air source heating). I spoke with customer services last week to understand what tariffs were available to us and it looks like we'd be cheaper on one of the fixed tariffs. The service advisor explained that we'd need to be very sure about moving to a single rate fixed tariff from the dual rate tariff as we wouldn't be able to move back to another dual rate tariff. Can't these new smart meters move between single and dual rate tariffs simply by remote configuration? Thanks 👍

I have a three phase supply to my house. All phases are in use. One phase for ground source heatpump the other two provide power and light. Can you supply a three phase smart meter?

Two meters - One for Day Rate, One for Night Rate - PROBLEMS with billing and Economy 10 Tariff!

PLEASE can anyone help.  My father has an old property with two separate meters, one for the day rate usage and one which is linked to a timeclock for his Night Storage Heaters.   We used to be on an Economy 10 type tariff with SEE (The actual Tariff was called Standard and Off Peak Fx).  SSE discontinued this tariff just as they moved across to OVO.  The Night Rate Meter was actually removed from the national database by SEE so that we were only paying for our daytime electric usage (and not paying for any of the night rate - night storage heaters).   I probably should have just been dishonest and left it at this and my father would have had free night electricity forever more !   However, I raised a complaint with the Energy Ombudsman which raged on for 2.5 years.   OVO then agreed to put us back on an Economy 10 tariff and re-instate the Night Rate Meter on the national database (as it effectively no longer existed!).   Over a year later, OVO have conceded that they have no “billing

Meter balance on new Aclara SGM1416-B

Re the meter balance figure, is this a weekly/monthly figure?  Is there VAT on top of this?Meter replaced 5th Feb.I think we might be using more electric than the THTC tariff, still trying to work things out and compare to what we were using last year this time.

Heat pump tariff add on

Hello. I have recently switched to OVO from octopus to take advantage of the heat pump tariff add on. But I can't see anywhere that the add on is active. Perhaps it is running in the back ground but I have no way of knowing. Has anybody got any experience of this?

Can we still get paper bills instead of online for my mother who doesn't have online access?

My elderly mother, who is fast approaching 97, recently received a demand, from OVO, for immediate payment of her account or, she was liable to receive a visit from the bailiffs!As she does not have access to the internet, she signed up, with OVO, to receive paper bills.The previous bill was received in, or around, May 2023. She has received no communication since. Why is this?As I've stated, she's almost 97 & lives independently. She does not have a mobile phone, computer, or internet access. Even if she had the latter, she'd not have a clue how to use it!! Where have paper bills gone?Do OVO care or even give a jot about their elderly customers?

Chameleon In Home Display (IHD) 3 stopped receiving Aclara S2 electricity smart meter usage info?

(Dammit, due to a mix of bad luck, confusing UI issues with the zoomed-in responsive page layout, the post-editing time window, and forgetting to select all plus copy before hitting post, I’ve just lost the content of this post now 3 times…. aaarrrgggh)Forgive me for I have sinned… I used to be a regular on the forums here but haven’t posted in over a year, sorry.  Glad to see @Transparent is still around and that there’s others volunteering here also.  :) TL;DR  Like some other posters here, I seem to have lost electric info on our IHD We’ve had our gas and electric smart meters for a few yeas now, for the last year things have been working fine.Sometime in the last few months our IHD stopped displaying electric info.  The IHD does display info about our current and historic gas usage plus gas meter info, but the gas tariff info is now missing and there’s nothing about the electric supply/usage/meter on it at all any more. EquipmentSMETS2 Installed via OVO a few years ago (not inheret

RTS switch over, Perthshire

So today is the day I am due to get smart meter installed to replace old (Payg) THTC in PH2 postcode area in Perthshire.    Will update on how it goes.Heating in house is provided by old style storage heaters in lounge and hall with panel heaters (that we don't use) in bedrooms.Hot water is immersion.

Unable to access online account and can't check usage or enter meter readings

I am a THTC customer on  complex meters.The app doesn't support complex meters and redirects you to sign in online Except it actually doesn't and every time I try to sign in through the online browser it constantly tells me sorry the app doesn't support.…Why am I unable to access the online account

move from THTC to smart meter

OVO tell me that I have to chose either economy 7 or economy 10 before I can book a smart meter appointment as they need different smart meters?  Does this mean I won’t be able to move tariff once the smart meter is installed?  Also they tell me they will fit a timer so that I can boost heating with convection heaters on the off peak rate or boost the hot water?  I am quite confused as at the moment all our heating, hot water, and electric shower operate on the off peak rate at any time of day. I understood that they had to offer the same set up but they tell me they will support this type of tariff?  Can some one explain how the hot water, shower and panel heaters will work or what tariff they will run on? Or will they only run at cheap rate during the economy 10 hours. How do my quantum storage heaters know when the cheap rate is?I find the whole situation confusing and unfair when we have the THTC tariff and set up because we have no mains gas option and it is cold in the North East
