I was forcibly switched to a smart meter by SSE in 2023. I didn’t want to but they entered my home and installed whilst I was away. I have since paid by topping up.I had an issue with topping up in May 2025 and OVO rep told me I should not be on a smart meter and should be paying monthly. I explained to her that it was done forcibly under SSE and she apologised profusely and switched me back to pay monthly. I then went to the OVO app to check I could still log in as I needed to be able to monitor my monthly usage and bills. I found I had a credit of £2191.**. It was late so I could not contact OVO to refund the money straight away so decided to call back the next day. I received an email from OVO the same evening claiming they had underestimated my energy usage. Claimed I would not be billed for any error past 12 months as it was their mistake but I owed £709.91. Just seen the email from Ovo about needing to take steps to keep on the Anytime plan.  It includes this statement   Step 1- Disconnect your charger from Charge Anytime Anyone know what his means? Disconnect your Ohme car charger from the mains? From the car ? Or is it just unlinking Ohme and Ovo via the apps?  If so, poor choice of language I'd say!Thanks  

 My smart meter OVO smart meter app on Android has not up dated since the 22nd MayThis issues was fixed before and everything working well. I have the latest version,and been updatedI have topped up today,the in home display is showing the correct amount Anyone else having issues,or is OVO company aware of this issue? Thanks

I am going through the process of setting up my Ovo Charge Anytime Account . I have got to the stage where I am instructed to cancel the Charge Anytime add-on from my Ovo account app, but I have an error message saying it couldn't be done.

I have not been able to see my power move score in the dashboard since it changed scheme. I am active and I have half hourly readings.

I have a smart meter. We are no longer using gas. I have booked Ovo to remove the meter. Do the engineers cap the supply as part of the job? Is there a charge?Do I need to contact the transporter when the meter has been taken away?

When I last spoke with OVO I was told a smart meter could not be fitted as we were on Economy 7 dual rate tariff. I am now being bombarded with emails and phone calls from OVO trying to get me to have a smart meter. Has the situation changed, can I now get a smart meter and keep my Economy 7 tariff? If not, and OVO do have my records, why do you keep asking me (and presumably everyone else on Economy 7) the same question over and over again?

Hi newbie here,  recently acquired a RAV4 PHEV and wall charger.  Wall charger is ABBA and is not compatible, but car is  (Beta mode).Now I pugged the charging cables into the wall charger and the car at 14.30 (last updated time stamp on the CA APP),  It is now 1515 and the app is still saying car unplugged.  I had set it to charge by 1600 hrs to check so as to check the whole thing worked, but how do I know?  the app says allow up to 30 mins for the car to send an update. but that time has been and gone, and nothing is happening.no charging schedule in the car, none on the wall charged, just in the CA app?  What am I doing wrong? the car and the toyota app can communicate via wifi, CheersCraig

Hi, can anyone help please?We have had the Hypervolt 3 charger installed today, we also have solar panels, our car is a Ford Kuga.I know the Ford is not compatible with Charge Anytime, that is why we opted for the Hypervolt 3 Charger.I have tried to charge the car this afternoon, it charged a small amount until the solar generation dropped due to clouds and sun movement, however I was expecting the mains supply to kick in and trickle charge the difference as necessary.Having looked at the Hypervolt app it is stating “Waiting for solar”, and the charging mode seems to be set as Super Eco, research has shown this means it charges ONLY from solar.Hypervolt instructions say that the mode I want is Eco, this prioritises the solar power but tops up with mains power as necessary.The Hypervolt app is controlled by an OVO integration - I am assuming this is via the Charge Anytime app, as that is where the link in the Hypervolt app takes me.My question is, where do i find the charging modes in t

Hi,On Monday 19th may an engineer came to swap up from RTS to a smart meter. I explained to him that the meter was dusty because the housing association replaced the cavity wall filling and they blew all the old cavity from the terraced house next door into our porch like confetti. The engineer started work and then said he was worried about the dust and to rebook with a full face engineer.On Tues 20th I rang ovo to say this and they said he has flagged us as possible asbestos. I advised again it isn't asbestos but general dust and cavity filling (I didn't realise I should have dusted and cleaned the meter before his visit!). The Ovo customer service person told me I needed to get in touch with SSEN as they fitted the meter in the 90s. So I emailed SSEN and they said "SSEN engineers are electrical engineers and do not hold license to attend to asbestos . Unfortunately your supplier has given the incorrect information." I emailed Ovo a week ago today sending pics (attached) we have dust

Had a new smart meter fitted, right afterwards, our broadband ADSL wasn’t working and mobile phones, for 2 hours.Coincidence, or does the meter produce a burst of data when its first plugged in that swamps the local area with interference ?

I heard mention the other day that if you have a smart meter and are on an Economy 7 tariff and you want to change to a single rate tariff, that you need to have your storage heaters rewired, and you can’t just switch tariff’s like that, is this true ?

Hello,it's nearly time to renew my plan and it seems most plans have boiler cover however as i begin the application process it tell me my make of boiler (an Ideal) is not covered - quite odd as its a popular make.

Hi in the past month I was attacked with fraud on my bank account and just realised that my bill for the month is due out and since this has happened to me this month I'm struggling to be able to pay my bill as at that time I had to delete my direct debits for any further fraudulent behaviour happening as confirmed by the bank and was seeing if my services could be kept on until next bill due date I'm which I can pay double as I'm now still waiting for a new bank card to arrive. Does anyone know if I can do this? 

All,!--startfragment>I have OVO’s Boiler Cover, which includes annual servicing. Last year, I had to file a complaint to ensure the engineer arrived on time. Unfortunately, this year has been no different—Corgi customer service has been unhelpful, mentioning booking slots and cannot do servicing within the first six months of policy renewal, despite no reference to this in the policy document. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with OVO’s boiler cover?Calling OVO’s customer service hasn’t been helpful either.Thanks,Arun!--endfragment>

Hi I rent my flat and have to have economy 10 can I get a smart meter? Not sure if its relevant but I I do not have storage heaters and as my meter is 8 foot up a wall I find reading it each month very difficult and slightly dangerous!! Also I have read that economy 10 is ending but I havent had any communication from OVO to collaborate this.

Hi can I get Ovo to pay me what I am owed from my solar panels? Since SSE sold us out without warning I’ve not had a single payment from Ovo. I’m tired of being fobbed off with “expect payment in 10days” It never happens. Since my first readings in September I still haven’t been paid and it’s now nearly February. I’ve also given Decembers readings and been told not to expect payment before March.Why is this? It only took SSE 4 weeks to pay out. I am desperate for money and incurring debts I’ve never had before. We hardly dare put on the heating and we are both in our 70s and very poorly. We couldn’t even afford Christmas presents . I am so dejected. I’ve now got a claims number but have been told it will be (guess what) 10 days before they deal with it. This is the third time I’ve rung about it. Why didn’t they give me a claims number after my first phone call? I could have been well through the process by now. Can anyone help or advise me?

OVO having installed a Givenergy AIO battery Gateway and PV panels about 6 months ago, I now intend adding an EV charger. The EV installation team now insist that additional groundworks are completed involving drilling through a 3m thick granite and concrete wall.The solar and battery installation (using a 5m long catenary) was signed off by OVO engineers as the only reasonable method of connecting a detached garage to the meter box without drilling through the aforementioned granite wall. The panels and AIO are up and running and working fine and appear safe as the catenary is 4m above ground. Has anyone else faced this situation as the intention was always to add an EV charger at a later date?Failing that, does anyone know a reputable installer in the SW area (Plymouth)? 

I’ll be looking to get a EV charger fitted in the future. I understand my fuse cutout (biscuit tin type) needs upgrading by the DNO which I have requested.I suspect I need my isolation switch also changed . Can OVO do this , I’ve been told it is surprising this was not done , or reported when OVO changed the smart meter in 2021. (Should OVO have changed the meter with this old cutout ?)Am I now likely to be charged for this service? Also unclear if the meter tails would need any upgrade. Any help with next steps appreciated   

Hi all,Very quick question as a search seems to generate an answer which is then quickly contradicted!I pick up a MY22 Kia EV6 later this week & want to get a home charge point installed (it’s not particularly urgent as I can charge at work in the meantime and I’m only doing 400-ish miles a month).My home has solar panels, generating anything between 10-25 kWh per day at the moment. No battery currently but that’s on the radar in a year or two.As I work from home two days a week, my aim is to charge during the day from the solar and sign up for Charge Anytime to act as a backup during the Winter months and for any night time charging that might be required.Reading through the various page, it seems that there are only two chargers which are compatible with solar - Indra & Hypervolt.Does anyone have experience of either of these chargers with their own solar setup, or is there anything to be aware of which might lead me to one over the other?Thanks in advance.

I have just had a Hypervolt Pro 3 charger installed and have the Hypervolt app and Charge Anytime app. My wife has a hybrid vehicle and wants her own charge anytime app. is it possible for the 2 apps to be on the same account?

I moved to OVO earlier this year and I'm on the Better Smart Plan, I queried why my direct debit has gone up 50% this month and below is the reply. I understand if I'm using more than the original estimate my DD needs to go up but the response seems to suggest prices can change.Hi Andrew,Thanks for getting in touch with us. You are on a fixed contract but the price is not fixed the unit rate and standing charge is this means that the price can vary due to the energy market at the time and also the usage of energy.Due to the 54% increase this would be why your DD price has increased to £146. Surely the whole point of fixing is to prevent price changes? If the unit rate is fixed unless there is a change to tax surely it should stay the same? I'm not understanding this explanation at all.

Good Afternoon.Shortly before I got my old electricity meter replaced by a smart one, I topped it up with 10£. I now have the smart meter running ok, but I just would like to know: is there a way that I can get that 10£ credit for the new smart one? I still have the old top up key, and the receipt.Could anyone let me know how I go about doing that?Thanks.
