We’re considering installing a charger at our house. Will either of the chargers Ovo install work with any type of electric car? Are there any drawbacks with Ovo installing a charger as opposed to a local specialist electrical outfit? 

Why do OVO continue to threaten me with debt recovery when I have a letter from them telling me to do nothing since my final statement is ‘on hold’?

Just had my RTS switchover. New meter and my Tarrif is Economy 9. I am a veteren from the old THTC system that SSE had.  I now have a smart meter. However, I have forgotten how it all works. Should I leave the immersion switch on beside my water tank???? I am sure in days gone by, it used to switch off automatically but now stays on outside the off peak charging times. Please see photo (I switched off manually). Also I didn't realise you need a degree in 'Utilities' to work out the best energy usage!!!! 

Customers on variable tariffs (SVT) are being notified these days of tariff increases from 1 January. At the same time, many are being given the opportunity to switch to a fixed-rate tariff. I am trying to decide whether it would be a good idea to fix, but I’m not sure I have all the information I need. Gas hasn’t been invented yet in my corner of the world, so I’m only interested in electricity tariffs.Cornwall Insight are a well respected crystal-ball gazer where energy prices are concerned. Their predictions for 2024 show small ups and downs in unit prices, but one startling forecast is for a hike in the standing charge of the order of 15% on 1 April. For a light user like me, this is hugely significant. On SVT, the standing charge would amount to 37% of my bill in January, but by October this would have risen to more than 41%. The fixed rates I’m being offered would keep the standing charge at more or less the current level, so that makes fixing look like a good idea. But … we know

We own a building that is listed grade 11. An installer has suggested that planning/listed building consent is needed before installing a charger. Anyone know if this is correct?

I’m a current OVO energy customer. I currently have 2 EV’s, a PHEV which is on the beta list of compatible cars and a full EV which is not listed at all (Omoda E5). I have an Ohme ePod home charger which apparently used to be compatible with Charge Anytime however since yesterday apparently new Charge Anytime customers are not able to onboard with this charger. I really don’t want to have to move to another energy supplier and would prefer to use OVO Charge Anytime - however the compatibility checker is suggesting only my beta PHEV is compatible but not my EV. So, my question is, will the Ohme still work with this tariff if I onboard with my compatible PHEV but then use it to also charge my incompatible EV? If not, is my EV actually compatible but just not on the list as it’s a fairly new brand/model?Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I’ve moved into a house which had a new smart meter installed by Ovo in February 2025 (prior to my ownership).I can’t work out all of what’s going on in my meter box. Specifically, what’s the role of the two grey boxes with “WARNING” labels in the top-right, and what is this disconnected ground-coloured cable doing… should it be connected to anything!?  I’m just a layperson, but I can see the supply comes in as the black cable on the bottom left of the board, into the 100A fuse terminal and then up into the meter. The grey meter tails then go in the bottom of the fused “main switch” and back out the top of the switch, into the house. A ground cable comes out of the house and goes into the side of the 100A fuse terminal’s N side. But there are two more grey tails coming out of the “house” and going up to these WARNING-stickered boxes. I don’t know what those components are or what they do. How do they relate to the rest of the setup on the board, as they’re not directly connected to

A new message has appeared on my In Home Display, saying “Elec Meter Initialised - press OK to confirm”. My OVO account says they are receiving my smart meter readings successfully. I had smart meters for gas and electric installed Oct 2024. Why has this message appeared? Thans in advance

Please could someone advise if it's RTS meter? I asked OVO and they said they can't advise. I don't want to switch to smart meter just yet if I don't have to. The photos attached are of my communal cupboard where my meter  is circled in red. There are 2 other meters serving other flats.  

Hi how much credit does my electric and gas meter hold please 

 If the boiler hasn’t been serviced in years, it could be running inefficiently—costing more to operate or even leaking carbon monoxide. Would it be worth requesting an efficiency check (e.g., a boiler’s ERP rating or combustion test) alongside the GSC, or is that overkill for a non-renovation purchase? If they refuse, does £2k still cover potential inefficiency risks, or should I adjust my retention?

I checked my energy usage frequently but when i checked today all my old usage bills were a lot higher it previously said i was spending about 1 pound 40 a day now it says for the same day i spent 3 pound 25 how can the usage change on a previous date and it has done that for all my old usage

I got a smart meter fitted today but it will not let me navigate with any of the buttons, displaying say there’s a new message but can’t read it.

I have no gas supply

I don't seem to get my Indra pro to smart charge my BMW for the last 2 days . It seems to connect and shows waiting to charge Via the app but after leaving over night it didn't charge. I can boost charge it via the app so I don't think there's a communication  problem . I'm not sure what's going on as it's been working for months with no problems. Tried a reboot etc to no avail. Any ideas ?

Charge Anytime was working great with my BMW iX3 until a week ago, then the CA app stopped recognising when my car was connected. I removed the car from the app and when trying to re-add it, got the following, but there’s no way to accept the Ts & Cs. Help please? 

Verbal communication of meter reading values being transposed. Meter readings, when taken by data collection agents not being used to establish usage. Continual estimating of meter readings leading to IN CREDIT account.  

We have recently moved supplier and have electricity on a credit tariff and our gas on PAYG. Usually the meter will show the standard three usage lights Green/ Amber and Red to show our energy usage, but all of a sudden it has lately being switching to a solid blue light (see image below) and the only way to return it to the standard usage lights, is to reboot the IHD, but his only works for a day or two before the blue light comes back. Is this a fault with the IHD? As you can see, it is still the same IHD that came with the original smart meter that we had installed (and still have) when we switched to a smart meter with our old supplier   

Hi everyone,I’ve just received my latest gas bill and I’m really confused by the usage.My meter reads directly in kWh, and the readings were: 2 May: 73367 15 May: 73584 18 May: 73614 That’s a total usage of 247 kWh, but my bill says I’ve used 2776.16 kWh, and I’m being charged £161.35 before VAT.I’m not sure where the 2776 kWh figure is coming from when the difference between my meter readings clearly shows just 247 kWh used. Has anyone else experienced something like this or have any idea what could be going on?Would appreciate any advice – thanks! 

Over the last 6 months I have been carefully following the various Forum threads regarding the (now delayed) RTS shutdown and the consequential loss of the THTC tariff. To date I have had no information directly from SSE (soon to be OVO).  When I called the SSE Specialist Heating Team was I assured by someone  that my supply is not in jeopardy and that a technical solution is awaited to allow a SMART meter installation, but no timescale was given. Nor was there any acknowledgment that the lack of  network coverage in my area (NW Sutherland)  had previously precluded fitting  a SMART meter anyway. The main reason for trying to get concrete information revolves around my intention to upgrade my old storage heaters to more energy efficient models which are also controllable remotely. As I understand it the modern heaters work best on Economy 7 or 10 (if available) tariffs which means if I want ultimately to save money, I  need to change from the current  THTC meter. Does anyone have any u

Topped up gas account and ovo/sse took 4 payments and still didn’t credit gas! impossible to contact!any help would be appreciated.
