Will OVO install a smart meter for electricity only, if a dual fuel consumer does not wish to also upgrade their traditional gas meter? And if not, why not? Presumably OVO billing is capable of handling automated meter reading for electricity, and manual meter reading for gas, does anyone know? An advantage of having an electricity meter is to allow dynamic tariffs (e.g. time-of-day) going forwards. But that is not the case for gas, and that part of the solution is fragile or not possible if the distance to the comms hub is too large, along with a question mark of whether the gas meter can fail shut if the battery dies. The call handler I spoke to at OVO would not book this installation on the basis that I am a dual fuel user. Is OVO really refusing to install smart meters on this basis? If so, I would need to raise a complaint with Ofgem, given that OVO customers are already collectively paying for smart meters via their bills. 

Hi, I have been with OVO a couple of years now and had an Aclara SGM1411-B meter installed after joining which sends electricity readings to my IHD and online no problem.  However it has never worked with my gas to send readings automatically, and I think I was told at the time this was due to my gas meter being SMETS1 (Landis+Gyr G370) but it would be possible in future after a remote SMETS2 upgrade.  From reading online, it seems all of the SMETS2 upgrades should have happened by now but no change on mine still.  I have tried doing the upgrade check on the DCC site but it comes back with ‘we can’t find your meter’ (double checked numbers etc).I still send my gas readings manually but would like to get the smart functions for gas enabled if possible, any ideas on how to get this sorted please?My meters are next to each other in house wall boxes outside:

Hello, I am converting a property into 10 student accommodation flats. A three-phase supply is required and we received an offer for an MSDB board 180KVA. Today I was told by National Grid, that with an MSDB board we will require 10 separate meters in either the rooms or the communal areas. As this will be student accommodation and all bills included, I'd rather have one meter positioned in the existing meter room. National Grid told me that for this, only with a Cut Out will it be possible to have one meter only. Can someone please help me out with this? - What is the difference between a Cut Out and MSDB? - How does the difference between the two impact the number of meters required? 

I bought my house 5 years ago.  There seem to be issues with the installation.  First there was no insulation on the external pipework.  Now I’ve been told (by a different company) that the pipes attached to the unit should not be lying on the ground (half buried) but raised and clipped to the wall.  It’s going to cost a bit of money and I’d like to know if this gentleman is correct with his observations.Any comments appreciated.

I plugged my car in this morning and it charged straight away , I was surprised as I presumed it would come on late at night to be cheaper ???Can anyone shine a light on it for me

Hi,Looking at the Indra Smart Pro 4 as first EV charger. Read some reviews and it mentions wi-fi connectivity is not built in and that there is a wi-fi dongle which needs to be fitted which will make the charger wi-fi ready. Question is for installation, would there be an additional charge to this dongle being fitted - is this non-standard?About to go through the process but don’t want something limited to mobile network data. Would appreciate if anyone has any insight/experience of this and if there was extra cost or hassle to get wi-fi ready.Thanks in advance

Just got the Chameleon IHD and the battery only last 2 hours. Is it faulty?

Can anybody identify this L+G E470 5236J-Y? Is it smets 1 or 2 and as there is no comms hub is it fair to say it is not connected or is the comms hub built in?Thank you  

So on the 9th May 6am nothing changed to our daily lives but my electricity usage increased by 12 times. It went from a constant 0.03kwh to 0.4kwh, nothing has changed and we are now spending a huge amount on electricity for no change of actual usage. Please can someone help asap as this is rinsing my money each day!

Yesterday engineer come to change smets 1 to smets2 and he  was checking electric smart meter he said I can't do it because the metal door the box is wood but the door only metal .any advice I really appreciate thanks

Many of us on here are interested in the COP of our heat pumps to see how efficiently they're running but most people will only be interested in what happens to their electricity consumption and bills. You often see claims that heat pumps will reduce your energy costs but is that correct? So, how has your energy use changed? What about your bills?

Hi, after having  Smart Meter fitted my powerline extenders (TP-LINK) have become sporadic and have lost speed. These only work on 2.4ghz so no option to change settings to 5ghz, has anyone else experienced this problem? If so does anyone have a solution.?

Long story short, we are with Octopus (were Bulb). Octopus cannot connect to our old smart meter and are unable to fit new ones for ex Bulb customers yet and no timeframe! We need the smart meter as we are committed to having solar and ASHP installed - without the meter we cannot have the special tariffs. If we came across to OvO how long would it take them to fit a smart meter and presumably they too have special tariffs for solar and ashp?Thank youColin

Hey, just got an MG HS PHEV, Ohme charger and went to swap to the OVO Anytime tariff (10p) to then find out my car is not listed (actually no MGs are) so looks like I cannot move onto the tariff? has anyone else have an MG and found the same? Is there an alternative tariff or does it look like I now need to change provider as currently paying 32p flat rate all day which for the car works out not that much cheaper than a gallon of fuel.

I joined OVO 10 days ago, and had the smart meter fitted yesterday. Great service, and very polite installer. also changed the gas meter.However it caused issues. the power reconnection seemed to cause a power surge and blew an audio component power supply. plus the boiler isnt working today (was serviced last week, and was fine until yesterday), so cold water and no heating this morning.Any idea who I should speak with about these? 

Please can someone advise.  I know nothing about storage heaters apart from the fact that my daughters in her new apartment and hers don’t heat up.  Not sure if we are doing something wrong or the system is broke.   Basically on each side of two of the heaters there are two plugs that are wired to the heater.  One shows it has a fuse and the other doesn’t.  In the cupboard is what looks like an emersion heater.  There are two switches in there.  One that says ‘switch for emersion heater’   The other says Economy 7 supply.  Landlord says switch both of them on at night and turn off in the morning.  Also to set output on the heater to 1 and input to 9.  I’m assuming that’s when it uses the economy 7 Tariff.  We then switched on the power on the right side of the heaters which doesn’t say it has a fuse and expected to have heat and hot water this morning but nothing! All stone cold.  Are we supposed to have the power on the right side of the heater on as well? The one in the hall only

Hello , i am hoping someone can help me and explain to me how to discover/recover historical meter readings or how far back would this information be retained on the meter(would it be on the meter since installation?) , I would be very grateful for any advice . from what I have read the information maybe on button 4 but would like some advise from those more knowledgeable than myself , thank you . Hi,I’ve had the Indra Smart Pro Charger hooked up to my Tesla for more than a week now and I’m on the Charge Anytime tariff.It’s been working well but I think I’ve made a mistake because I’ve installed the Charge Anytime App and configured it to talk to the Tesla.Reading around this forum apparently that isn’t necessary because OVO will control the Indra Smart charger directly without the need of the Charge Anytime App.Could someone please tell me how to roll back from this and remove my credentials etc from the Charge Anytime App?  Is the “Delete Account” option what I need to do? Do I then set the charging schedule in the Indra App and that’s all?Thanks for your help!

Hello,We are getting our house ready to fit an air source heat pump.  We have seen a few houses around us that have installed the heat pump in the light well at the front of the house.   We would like to do this, but want to know whether it makes sense.  We would put the ASHP on the ledge so the top would be at the top of the lightwell the depth (wall to bay window) of the lightwell is around 2.4m so room to have space behind and in front.  one side is totally open the other side will have a wall around 0.5-1.0m away.I know there needs to be good airflow around the pump and this seems enough (and more than the places we have seen them installed in other lightwells).   Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

hi, we had solar panels, an inverter and pure drive battery fitted. So far we have used a fraction of electricity produced. The battery does not charge or discharge.Installer says it’s a fault and are waiting for pure drive- I think it’s set up as it charged from the grid at one point and discharged to the house, but they changed the settings and now nothing.Installer also say the meter doesn’t show up on the system in any their installations. The meter in our fuse box has remained at zero. The real question - is this a set up fault or a product fault? Thanks

I have recently switched to OVO. I understand that I need to activate Charge Anytime using my online account.  The problem is I don’t seem to have this option. I have been to the ‘offers and upgrades’ page where it tells me about Charge Anytime, but I don’t seem to have any way to actually add it to my account.  Does anyone know what I need to do?  Many thanks
