We have just had a KAIFA M120 smart meter installed. I had hoped that this would enable  economy 7. However OVO at first told me that this was not possible. On a subsequent phone call they told me that it was possible but that I’d have to wait for another installation (meter ?)  and that it would cost £325.  I am not sure about this as looking online I am fairly sure that the new meter can cope with a second tariff. Does any one know anything about this ? And also where can I get a KAIFA M120 smart meter manual.

Hey, im wondering if anyone else has had similar issues, I was advised against smart meters due to their history of being inaccurate but figured was just paranoia.  Below you can see on the 9/3/23 I was charged for 30Kw of electricity, despite only using 22kw from the grid that day (to charge my car), I notice couple days before it also has slight over spending despite again not consuming that much from the grid. I sadly only got Solar this week so this may have been going on for the past couple months too (our routines haven’t changed) curious on anyone’s thought?  

Hi all,I’ve just had a smart metre installed and the daily budget for both gas and electric is set to £1.95 and £1.60 respectively.I live in a small house and have a gas fired boiler and a few electrical appliances. Even when idle, the metre speedometer shows that I’m using medium electricity. This is when noting apart from general appliances are on (I.e. fridge, TV on standby, etc).it’s also telling me I’ve exceeded my budget (set above). Can anyone explain why this is happening?  

Hi there,I’m having issues with Nest turning my heating on early enough. My heat schedule is 21C during the day, 19C from 9:30pm, then back to 21C at 7:30am. My understanding is that overnight the Nest is supposed to look at the temp change to 21C at 7:30am, look at the current house temp, and the temp outside, and figure out when to turn on such that the house reaches 21C at 7:30amIt never even gets close for me. Usually the house gets to 21C at 9am or later. This morning was the worst so far, I assume because it was so cold overnight (-3C). It turned on at 6:45am, which is insane. It takes about 3 hours on a cold morning to get from 19C to 21C. Right now the temp is 21C. If I use the Nest controller and set the heat to 22C, it says “in 20 mins”, but there is no way the heat pump can change the heat that fast. It would be an hour plus.In the nest app controls It says “Time to Temp → Ready” and “True Radiant → On Ready”Anyone else having iss

Hi I have just had a heat pump installed and the installation team have said they can cap the gas connection as I no longer need a gas supply. Can they complete this action or do I have to go through Ovo to formalise this request?

Good day, we have three very old (1992) storage heaters in our flat. SSE installed our smart meter last year in April and it provides us with day and night readings on Economy 7. We are now with OVO. We are happy to continue although the cost of running them is very high. However, our EPC rating is F! Other factors contribute to this low rating but we need to change the heaters if we want to sell our flat in the future and increase the EPC rating.  I understand from other posts that OVO cannot change the meter to single rate so it appears we have to find modern storage heaters that still use economy 7 but do not give us such a low EPC rating. Is there no way OVO will change the meter to single rate if we find alternative  heating. I should add we are all electric, no gas supply. Thank you!

I have had a smart meter for several years and find the on line graphs very useful. Curiously, I can view hourly readings for gas but only daily for electricity. How can I change the electricity readings to hourly - or half hourly?

Recently had a 6kw solar system installed, consists of a Solis Hybrid Inverter, rated (3 - 6kw)  5kw rated  Pure Drive Battery and 14 x 420w panels. My question is, why does my inverter take from the panels and feed to my property and the GRID, rather than charging the battery which is as low as 12%? Any assistance will be grateful appreciated. 

The language is in what appears to be Welsh, is there a way to change this? And there's no signal showing at all on the device, not for wan or to the meter. I think it's showing usage for the past few days I guess, as I don't understand Welsh it's hard to tell! Hoping someone can help.

I am soooo confused.  i have been reading up on Ovo’s EV plans on and off all day…..Nothing is very clear.I have not yet bought a charger, even though i was not wanting one of Ovos. But is ittrue i have to have one of theres to upgrade to drive?   I do not have a smart meter and i do not have gas.(oil only).if i buy one of ovo’s chargers - what happens if i eventually move from ovo?   is my charger then useless with another energy company? 

Hi, My smart meter is not working and I would like the Trillant hub communicator to be  disconnected/removed. It’s a Landys Gyr E470 and a Trillant SEAP 2001 V. I can’t see any power button on the Trillant. How can I turn this thing off?  Can I just cut the wire that link it to the Landys? Many Thanks. 

Can you help? I live in a flat in a converted Victorian building. The gas meter is in the basement and the electricity meter is on the second floor. I would like to get smart meters. Having read up on dual-band comms hubs, is there any possibility that this would allow the two meters to communicate?I guesstimate that the meters are 12 metres apart but the signal would need to pass through three ceilings. There is good mobile signal in the area.If I can only get one smart meter fitted, presumably that would be the electricity meter?Any advice gratefully received, thanks!

Hi folks I am writing this after months of problems relating to Smart Gas meters and trying to fit one in a semi concealed meter box.Back in 2017 OVO suggested it would be a good idea to upgrade to smart meters. A Lowri Beck engineer was dispatched and he removed our working gas meter and fitted a new smart gas meter. After he left we noticed the meter box lid was buckled and the noise from the meter was vibrating through the house.Without boring you with the whole story...The smart meter was replaced with a new digital dumb meter.. (This engineer said "which clown tried to fit a smart meter in there")The new dumb digital meter also failed with a blank screen after a few months ... This was then replaced with another dumb gas meter...This latest one failed with a blank screen back in March.Since then we can take no gas readings and have been left in limbo. 2 weeks ago my wife received an email from OVO asking us to contact

About a year ago I had Ovo update the gas and electricity meters from older traditional ones to new smart meters. However my landlord has indicated a preference for traditional meters for practical reasons, and wishes me to organise an engineer to revert the smart meters back to what they used to be. They argue it’s considerably easier for me as the account holder to have this done. Do I even have this option to revert back to traditional meters? If not with Ovo, would another energy supplier help?Thanks

Hi all,Just moved into new rented accommodation with electric heating and water with a combi boiler which seems to be showing about £2.70-£3 an hour estimated cost on the smart meter when heating is on. When boiler is on and ticking over is even showing about £2.30 an hour even when heating is off.  Is anyone else on a similar system and know if this is normal as it seems a lot? Sorry have come from being on oil so not used to this type of heating.CheersChris

Had solar and battery storage installed in December. All working as it should and inverter is showing solar generation, as is the Solar company’s app. But on the OVO portal and app our kWh consumption is unchanged, despite solar company data showing that we’re generating and using solar. Rang the solar installer and they advised to contact OVO as they needed to send an update to the meter so it will record correctly. I spent 5 hours in the web chat queue today to speak to someone. Eventually reached position 3 and then never got any further. So I thought I’d ask here first whether anyone has heard of this before and will a simple call fix the issue or not? Just looking to hear similar experiences before I face another day of waiting in a long queue to get nowhere.

I have 3 phase electricity with a dual rate meter. I would like a smart meter. I have asked my electrician and he says that it is very easy however the OVO technician who came to fit a smart meter said he couldn't do it. So I am paying over the odds for my electricity because OVO will not put me onto a single phase and install a smart meter

Having recently enabled weather dependant mode and as the temps have dropped, my target LWT is 55° today.After 2.5 hours of pump operation this morning (outside temp 1°), the LWT has reached 49°. Does everyone else’s system take this sort of time to get up to temp? Just want to check what the norm is before raising a query to Retrofit/Daikin.

My old heritage electricity meter has stopped working, and needs replacing, but I’m in an area with very poor (sometimes zero) mobile coverage. Would OVO still replace this with a Smart Meter but ask me to continue to provide manual readings if it can’t communicate automatically? Is this a viable scenario for OVO?  (I’ve read various posts in the forum but can’t find a definitive answer to this). Thanks

When using Secure Liberty 112, what does E1 mean?And,  when pressing button 6, how do I stop the meter scrolling too fast through lots of info?

I am expecting my EV in November , I’m an SSE ENERGY customer, SSE have pointed me towards ZOOM EV for my EV tariff , they say I have to join OVO .. I’m not at home during the day so all my charging will be done overnight, the info I see is the tariff is set 24hrs a day at 16.7p KWH , I was hoping for an off peak discounted rate …. Can someone Please help, advise and ping me in the right direction if what to do that is the cheapest option thanks  

Hi We had our SMETS2.0 smart meter and IHD last year. Looks like there's still bugs.  😉 As you can see from the attached photos, the IHD is properly synchronised and paired with the meter, the right meter, and it gets the meter readings, and the meter has the right time on it; however, the IHD doesn't have the right time.  No amount of resetting the IHD seems to cure this.  This means it messes up the night mode timings (and also confuses me, I keep thinking it's earlier than it is, lol!) The IHD model is Chameleon IHD3-PPMID / CA30111. The meter is an Aclara SGM1413-B. The communications hub is a Toshiba SKU-1 Cellular. (I have another photo I've not posted demonstrating that the MPANs match on both meter and IHD too.) I know it's not a high priority issue but I thought I'd best feed it back to you.   Julie x

I'd like to have smart meters installed, but would appreciate some advice as to whether we have enough room first, because access to the gas meter is a tad limited due to some building work (so I want to know before I book to avoid charges). We also have quite an old Electricity meter so I figure I will also ask about clearance/room there as well while I'm here First up, Gas Meter (note, I'll have moved all our stuff out the way!):
