Smart meters

  Hi there, Recent OVO customer, been a long time since I've been one. I'd like to have smart meters installed, but would appreciate some advice as to whether we have enough room first, because access to the gas meter is a tad limited due to some building work (so I want to know before I book to avoid charges). We also have quite an old Electricity meter so I figure I will also ask about clearance/room there as well while I'm here First up, Gas Meter (note, I'll have moved all our stuff out the way!):    

Hi! I've got my smart meter yesterday but something went wrong and my boiler is not working. It's Friday night and I have no hot water until the next week???

Our Liberty 100 meter has started beeping for some reason. There is a code of E1. What does this mean? We also have a message about credit and cost, but we pay by monthly DD. Can anybody out there please tell us how to stop this beeping??? 

Hi all rightly or wrongly, been trying to get smart metres fitted to gas and electricity. Booked up a free visit last year with OVO engineer and he took one look at it and said can't do it gov because your gas and electricity metres are too close to each other.And off he went. So, been toing and froing with OVO and they said they will be able to fit smart metres if minimum distance between said meters is achieved and it will cost me £125 to them to movement the gas metre, or so I thought..… So booked a date in November for what I thought was going to be OVO to move the gas metre and was then told to phone Cadent i.e. British Gas for them to actually repositioned meter. Got a provisional quote from them for £790 to move it less than a metre!! The cadent person also said there is no legal requirement for a minimum distance to be achieved for older gas and electricity installations although these

HiJust started to review our usage on the small monitor and don't understand why the hourly usage between 1.30am and 5.30am is almost as high as when i had the washing machine and dish washer on this morning. Any idea? Thanks

Howdo.Just curious – had the following message pop up on my in-home display this afternoon. Got it twice at the same time, one each for gas and electric.“ *** Helpdesk ** Help Line No.:”Refer Retailer Guide” ** Supplier:”0000” ***Is that anything that needs attention, or can I ignore it? It’s the first message that’s come up since “Welcome to Ovo” in 2017. I didn’t even know it received messages, to be honest. If I hadn’t heard the beep when it arrived I’d be none the wiser.Thanks! 

HelloEveryday between the hours of 3am to 6am my electric usage is really high and I can’t seem to work out why? Both me and my boyfriend are always asleep at this time and the earliest we get up on some days is 7am but our usage for every half hour between those times is between 1.33kwh to 1.54kwh but hardly any electricity is being used whilst we are asleep as we turn everything off before we go to bed the only thing that stays on is the fridge/freezer and our phone chargers our electric water heater comes on at 6am Please could someone help as our electric is really high for 2 of us in a 1 bed apartment are usage is between £3.80 to £5.90 a day😩 

Does the smart meter need to be plugged in all the time? As soon as I unplug mine it starts to beep practically straight away so is this the way they are meant to be? Cheers Jess 

Hello,Landis+GYR E470 electricity meter beepingPlease please help! Day two of this darn meter beeping and I can't even escape it because I live in a small flat! It's 1.35am... this meter is driving me nuts!On the digital display thing I've also increased the budget as per one of the conversations on here. This hasn't worked... It's still beeping.I've had the smart meter for a couple of years with no problems. I genuinely don't understand how to stop the beeping.Who takes responsibility for the unit? Hello I am thinking about having a smart meter installed, but I have solar panels. From research online I understand that the smart meter British Gas use are compatible with PVs – which is great. But I would like greater understanding on the interface / the meter reading which will be displayed. So for example: - If I am using £1 of electricity an hour and its at night (no PV electricity being generated) how would that differ on the smart meter reading from using £1 of electricity an hour In the middle of a sunny day where my PVs are generating electricity. Would it display the same cost usage (still £1 per hour) – thus ignoring the energy being generated, or would it display a lesser figure taking into account the amount being generated by my PV? Thanks.  

When I joined OVO I didn’t get the lovely smart colour In Home Display they advertise showing your actual current useage, but a fairly useless Secure Pipit 500 black & white unit that defaults to a meaningless display of the total you’ve ever spent with OVO.  With the need to monitor energy usage more closely, can anyone recommend a good In Home Display that I could buy if necessary which shows as a default display the actual live gas and electricity usage?  Sadly, I can’t get anywhere with OVO themselves...

Hi everyone, I’m a former SSE customer who was moved to OVO in July and I’ve had nothing but problems with readings and bills since then. My latest problem is that the smart metre readings sent automatically and registered to my account are wildly inaccurate. Today’s registered reading from the smart metre for example was 3664 but the actual reading on my electricity meter is 3466. How is this so out?? 

I am looking for some advice regarding my elderly father's meter installation.My father had a letter from his supplier advising him that he needed to have a smart meter installed because the radio switching service that controls his off-peak storage radiators is expected to be de-commissioned next March. My father agreed to the installation and I arranged to be present.In the event, the installer declined to fit a smart meter on the grounds that there is an earth leakage trip switch on the supplier side of the meter (installed by the Southern Electricity Board in the 1970s) and it is now policy to install trip switches on the customer side of the meter. He suggested that we either employ an electrician to move/replace the trip switch or manage without the smart meter. He pointed out that the off peak switching is managed by a clock and so is not affected by the radio switching issue.I was surprised that the householder would be responsible for wiring on the supp

Hi All, I’ve been told by another supplier (pre OVO) that I couldn’t have a smart meter because of the way the houses in my small terrace (4) were set up. I was told that the engineer would need access to all 4 houses at the same time! Has anyone else heard of this. or could someone explain? CheersDome

Hi All, Started with OVO over a year ago moving from e.on.  So at the time of that move the tariffs sent to the meter by OVO were incorrect - VAT was added twice as I recall. I tried via customer support to get it fixed but to no avail.  I KNOW it does not affect the billing but it does affect the IHD budget/usage display.  In the end I forgot about it - it was roughly right. Moving to a new tariff in March (radically different) I hoped the update would fix everything :-) Well the electricity is now correct but Gas hasn’t changed from the incorrect ones of a year ago.  I raised this with Customer Service and Joseph emailed me “I understand that your In-Home Display (IHD) is missing some data. We have now sent some information to your smart meters remotely which should reinforce the connection to your IHD.Please allow 24 hours from receiving this email and then turn your IHD off and on again and keep it as close to your el

paid £26 for this ihd6, looks like it can’t be paired, rang my providor who said I needed and installcode, not something it came with. No looking at the ivie bud at another 54£ thinking i’ve paid 26£ on ewaste, are these ihd6 only work if sent by providor?

Hi,We purchased our property with solar panels a couple of months ago. The previous owner provided two readings, solar panel tall and solar panel export (meter) readings. I’m not sure where he took those readings from, would it be from the smart meter where i would normally provide my electric meter readings from? Or would it be somewhere else? I also have the below device (see picture), but the reading only shows import and not export. I’ve also contacted OVO asking them to explain what readings i need to provide and by when something i am still waiting for a response onthanks in advance 

I'd like to see and analyse the information my smartmeter generates.For example I'd like to see a trend graph showing use and cost by day over a number of days. I'd also like to analyse my use of economy 7 off peak units. 

I have noticed since the price change that my smart meter has not updated to show the new tariff rates and standing charges.  Thought I was doing well yesterday until I checked the app to see it was actually double the price that my smart meter was showing me. Anyone know how to correct this so my smart meter is actually useful? 

Can I pair a Geo Tri 11 moniter on an Aclara SGM 1312 electric meter and Aclara Uniflo G4SZV gas meter ?I understand That the electric meter is a Smert1 model with a Aclara SGC1311 Smart Communications Hub installed. Currently paired to Chameleon    IHD2-TS/IT 2017 Main reason i wanted to upgrade the monitor is so that I can wifi it over to an app on my phone and I know the TRi 11 monitor works on the app...Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

I have a smets1 Pipit 500 in house display unit which does not appear to show meter readingsDoes it not have this facility? Later models appear to be able to show the meter readings.

had a smart meter installed recently on economy 7 tarrif with an in house display (camelion). the gas meter reading appears on the display but the electricity meter readings appear as 1 reading which seems to be the day and night rate added together. Have I got the unit set up wrong ?
