Switching suppliers and moving home

Hi 👋🏻  I currently have electricity with OVO and my IHD is paired and working fine , I’ve just switched my gas supplier from eon also to OVO when the switch is completed on the 29th will my OVO IHD automatically display both gas and electricity instead of just electricity as it does at the moment ?  thanks in advance 

Hello Im Just about to move into a house that was repossessed and the services are either disconnected or capped. What’s the process to get it back up and running? I called ovo they said to call uk power and uk power said call ovo…! Also how long does this all take if anyone has an idea?! Thank you 

I moved house over 18months ago and moved to a new supplier. All bills were paid. I am now getting harassed by debt collectors as ovo have linked the period since leaving the house to my phone number due to a trace and search but not my name, so they won’t give me any information regarding the account. I have spoke to ovo who won’t stop the collectors ringing me as they need to find who is liable. What should I do?

Hello, I’m moving home in a month and won’t be responsible for utilities anymore, therefore I’m closing my OVO account. I’m required to submit final meter readings but it is unclear when -Should I submit my meter readings today or on the day I move out?Also, how long after I move out/close my OVO account can I cancel my direct debit? Many thanks! 

Hi,I have the chance to join a collective switch (away from ovo) to lower my bills fixed for 2 years. Im a high user so on a new tariff should I prioritise tariff over standing charge?

Hi all,like many people, I have an aging parent who struggles to cope with modern technology such as online accounts.I would like to manage my Mum’s energy account for her but her current supplier will not let me do this without a “Lasting Power of Attorney” and my Mum finds that troubling because it makes her think that “the law” is taking over her life.If we were to change supplier to OVO, could the account have both my Mum and me as joint account holders without the “scary” legal stuff ?thanks for any thoughts on the matterPhilipJ

I completed the moving in registration over a week ago and never received any confirmation emails from OVO. The property is already supplied by OVO so does not require a transfer period. I completed this form again today in the hope to get some light of account set up and meter readings put in.  I have also tried to login and it lets me set my password but once logged in, it says a problem has occured or they cannot find my details.   I need access to an account to put in meter readings and pay, however I do not understand why this is an impossible task and I have double checked my emails and junk folder and received no communication.

Anyone else experienced theft by Ovo? £60 removed from my account as early exit fee even though I exited well within the 14 day cooling off period. Money still not refunded. This is theft - money being taken against the law. Hi

I hope this makes a bit of sense. I moved into a property supplied by a supplier (electricity only) sometime in June. However, I didn't get to set up the account until September. While trying to do that, my supplier had a bit of an issue linking my address to their system and while my complaint about the issue has been escalated and assurances received, there doesn't seem to any positive news from their end at this moment. Tbh, the whole process has put me off staying with them so I want to switch.  Also, while trying to link my address to their system, I set up my online account and choose a variable tarriff with no exit fee with the hope that I can switch easily when the time comes. So presently, I am just waiting for the bills to be sent to my address so I can switch. (But if I can switch before then, I want to). Summarily, I wish to switch to Ovo whilst my supplier is still trying to set up my electricity account. Will I encounter any is

I've found out that I'm leaving OVO later this month as I've switched. I haven't - I've no idea who I'm supposed to have switched to. It was only because I was looking online for my statement that I noticed the 'Sorry you are leaving' message - how do I stop this happening, how do I prevent it happening again, how do I find out who I'm meant to be switching to, and will this effect my fixed rate status? Sorry lots of questions!

I used Ovo while renting a home in Cambridge. I was paying the appropriate amount for the gas and electricity I was using. When moving away from the UK in June, Ovo posted a final bill saying I owed over £8,000 for the gas I used. Immediately working with customer service reps, it was very obvious to the Ovo reps that it was a mistake in their system and that they would fix it. I went through everything I paid Ovo during my time there, and calculated approximate gas and electricity. It’s very apparent that I have paid for my gas and electricity during my time there and the Ovo representatives agree when I spoken to on the phone.  Every time I speak with Ovo customer service, they tell me that someone is looking into my case and they will get back in 3-5 business days. The first time I was told this was back in June when the issue first happened. They will not reach out with ANY answer to the issue. I have moved to a home which was supplied by OVO. I received a letter with my account number but when I try to set up My OVO, I get an error that my information is incorrect (I think I know what my birthdate is so not sure what OVO’s problem is).I have tried calling you - 45+ mins waiting time with no luck of speaking to one of your reps;  I tried chat - number 160 in the queue so maybe I’ll be able to speak to someone by 10pm this evening?; I would love to get back to my previous supplier once I sort this nonsense out, their customer service was brilliant. So please someone let me know how I can set up an account, I pay you for my first month and I leave you ASAP and go back to Octopus. 

So I recently received a letter saying that I was being switched from OVO- however, I have no intention of switching, and I have made absolutely no actions to do so. I believe this might be an Erroneous Transfer, but I really don’t know. The problem is: I have tried to get in contact both via e-mail and phone, however for some reason, neither will recognise my OVO account number when I enter it, so I cannot get more information and I cannot correct this. Any advice? Hello, I’ve just moved into a new apartment and it’s prompting me to put in a meter reading. I know how to put it in and read it. However, when I write out the meter reading the website gives me an error. On the app, it doesn’t allow me to put in the reading at all, giving me an error before that point. Could this be because there have been no previous energy readings? thank you. 

I had an air source heat pump installed as part of the ECO4 grant earlier this year.Out of the blue, I was then told that I was eligible for financial help with electricity bills.  This comes in the form of an evoucher from the AWS Energy Fund.  You use this to credit your electricity account.This is the question:  I still have credit from this payment on my Ovo account, but am thinking of changing suppliers.  Will Ovo credit me with this money?Many thanks, Cate

Hi, I have just moved into a property which you supply. I want to submit my readings and fix my bills but the suggested price is £129 a month. This seems very high as there is only myself in the property. Is this just an estimate that will change once I submit my meter readings?

Hello We moved out of our house on the 28th July but I’m struggling to submit final meter readings. I can’t submit via the app because it’s saying there are no meters associated with the account. I tried emailing using the email listed on the help centre page which is hello@ovoenergy.com  but I got an auto reply to say the address is no longer in use and to use the one on the help centre page. I can’t see any other email address listed so no idea what’s going on there.I tried the webchat option during the week but I was 44 in line and when I went back to check where I was in the queue, it reset and I had to start again. So I gave up. I did try calling but didn’t have much time to stay on the line because we’ve been moving. Any ideas how I can get the final meter readings submitted? Do I just need to grit my teeth and hang on the phone or is there an easier

I am a landlord and need to set up a pay as you go account with my details as tenant has vacated. How do I go about doing it? I’m not able to access an activated account. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you 

I have just taken over a new premises for my business, I need to change my meter from single phase to economy 7 as landlord has installed dimplex storage heaters. can you change my meter? will there be a charge for this as have been quoted over £200 from someone else! 

I am owed money by OVO after closing my account when moving..I have sent pictures by email to them of final meter readings as asked for by call centre now I have an email asking me to call the call centre to give my final meter readings who have asked me to email pictures of my final meter reading.Any one able to help with next step please as it is nearly £400 owed to me when they took over SSE whom i was with before this shower came along..

Trying to find out if OVO can install a CT meter for the above connection for a very large home.  Seems like it is not clear if it is currently supported or not.

Good afternoon all, I’m after any advice on a very frustrating issue we’re having since moving in to our new home in January. I have spoken with the Ovo helpline 3 times now and keep getting nowhere (helpline directs me to email, email directs me to helpline and on and on on etc!). Our home has an MPAN number which corresponds with the name of the property. I’ve triple checked this with UK power networks. The name of the property is the same as the Royal Mail database, the title deeds to the house and the local council reference.  It appears however that our meter serial number does not match with this MPAN, and is linked to another property name. We have spoken with neighbours, and there appears to be no house in the area by the name linked to our meter S/N, or certainly hasn’t been for 20+ years. The meter is a smart meter fitted in circa 2017, so it cannot be that old!  The MPAN for our house is 100% previously supplied by Ovo - again I’v

Hi I swapped to OVO 4 weeks ago, maybe a few days more. Electric is fine and the smart meter is sending readings, my gas though has not yet switched. Is this normal, been a while since I’ve switched so not sure if I need to do anything? Thanks for any help.

Why do OVO continue to threaten me with debt recovery when I have a letter from them telling me to do nothing since my final statement is ‘on hold’?

Hi,When trying to join OVO from British Gas, I get the below error:Oops, there’s a problem…Unfortunately, we can't give you a quote right now. We're currently unable to support your meter setup, but we're working on it and expect to offer quotes in 2025.I have a new Skoda with the free miles offer, so I would like to get this fixed quickly so I can move across.  British Gas said it is a proble on the OVO side, but I do not know how to proceed. ThanksCraig
