Can only get a smart meter if my set up has 8 off peak hours
After getting a generic “ineligible for smart meter” message online, I messaged to ask why I was ineligible and I was told that I could get a smart meter installed but only if I lose one hour of off peak rate. When I queried further I was told that OVO only have “ECO 7” smart meters available which are 7 hours overnight off peak. My plan has 8 hours off peak (just a domestic rolling variable plan).Has anyone else experienced this? Does this sound right? I didn’t progress any further because I didn’t want to commit to worse terms just for the sake of a smart meter. It felt a bit like they were saying yes you can have a smart meter, but it’s going to cost you.
SSE migrated customer. Can I get a smart meter and keep my Economy 10 hours?
I am currently on an E10 tariff having been migrated from SSE.The Off-Peak periods are 00:05 to 05:05, 13:05 to 16:05 and 20:05 to 22:05 all GMT - these suit my needs very well.I have done some digging and spoken with various people and opinions seem to vary. Can I get a Smart Meter Installed that will support E10? Will my 3 off-peak periods continue as they currently are? What is the lead time? Will I qualify for the National Grid incentive to shift loading from Peak time sto Off peak (over night)? And will it be compatible with a Solar Installation that may export power to te grid.It needs to be remembered that during Off-peak times EVERYTHING is charged at that rate
Migrated from SSE and IHD is showing 'red' more than before?
I have moved over from SSE electricity so I’ve been told over the phone and since then my smart meter is having a frenzy simple things like put the kettle on it. Go straight to read now whereas before with SSE never did so really can’t understand this when I try and ring OVO it’s two hours or more and I still don’t get an answer so I’ve been moved over. I have no account number or nothing at all. I did have a letter saying that I was moving over and my tariff would not change. It clearly has
Smart Meters and EV chargers- No CT clamp with fitted
Hi has anyone had trouble after a smart meter was fitted with their charger ? I have as the meter was fitted correctly but a clamp that must be in place for the charger to work was omitted. Ovo refused to come out and help in spite of many requests and denied anything was wrong. Most irritating. Now fixes BT replacing clamp
SSE smart meter not working since joining OVO - why is it saying it's 'too far to read my meter, move it closer?
I’ve been an SSE customer for 20+ years I’ve had a smart meter for 5 or more with a little black display unit that sits in the kitchen the other side of the wall to where my smart meter is on the cupboardive never had an issue with it until OVO took over my account and now it just says it’s to far to read my meter move it closer. It’s never been a problem before is it something to do with OVO taking my account over and it’s not compatible or is it knackered? If it’s knackered who do I contact to get a new one please because OVO haven’t replied to any of my 3 emails so far. Maybe they need more than a month to respond.
Landis + Gyr E470: Not readable (Error Code: 'V24.01. 10.00 -71b803) Coming up to a year!
Its Been like this almost 1 Year and we’ve been on estimated Electric bills. (Gas is working albeit I have to punch in the readings manually, probably because electric is faulty)Bulb are absolutely hopeless at getting it fixed despite multiple emails. Last message was that they “Rejected” the request (“They” being some kind of Smart Meter Engineer I guess)I just want to know if its actually still taking readings in the background? if so things will turn out fair in the end I suppose. But if its not then I need to know the next steps.Anyone else had a similar code or situation? Thanks
Can I get an Economy 7 meter with OVO?
I am a landlord and need to arrange for an all electric flat to have an Economy 7 account and install a night storage heater. Slightly galling as the current heating system allows for control to use only when needed and the tenants use only about 67% of energy that the calculations with a night storage heater would use - yeah I know. Anyway previously advised by OVO that they can not convert the existing Smartmeter to E7 so to best the system thought it made sense to get a new Smartmeter installed as soon as tenant moves out next month. First of all OVO can not find the property and manage to confuse with another property with a different postcode - yeah I know. Still they can not find the right property. Then they say I have to wait until the property and account is actually returned to me before I can book a new meter installation appointment. Really frustrating that efforts to plan ahead are thwarted by incompetence and dogma.Any suggestions ?
Why is my Smart Meter In Home Display now showing “waiting for current data”?
My IHD display worked fine for 5 days after arrival. Now it just shows “waiting for current data” and nothing else.ive restarted it, reset it and moved it right next to box and still nothing.so annoying. Nothing on forum but loads on bulbs forum.does anybody know how to reconnect it to the actual meter. I’m sure there must be a menu on the meter but it’s locked by pin and no instructions on the web.IHD is a waste of time at present! and I’ve tried everything and still won’t work. It was fine 2 days ago and only installed a week ago
Will a 3 phase smart meter work for my 2-phase supply and dual-rates?
My house has a 2-phase supply, with dual-rates (night and day). I’m guessing that no-one will make a Smart Meter for 2-phase supplies. Does anyone know if a 3-phase Smart Meter (when available) will be able to be fitted (and hence cope with one phase never being used)?
Why is my smart meter In home display (IHD) exceeding my daily budget? - My electricity usage seems high
Hi all,I’ve just had a smart metre installed and the daily budget for both gas and electric is set to £1.95 and £1.60 respectively.I live in a small house and have a gas fired boiler and a few electrical appliances. Even when idle, the metre speedometer shows that I’m using medium electricity. This is when noting apart from general appliances are on (I.e. fridge, TV on standby, etc).it’s also telling me I’ve exceeded my budget (set above). Can anyone explain why this is happening?
New IHD showing high levels of usage - is this right?
Hi, I had my smart meters installed yesterday lunchtime, this morning my IHD tells me I used a combined gas and electric totalling over £25!! there is no way this is correct. My daughter had a shower this evening for 5 minutes and the electric cost went up on the IHD by £5.....anyone else having these unusual readings? its worrying me as my bill is going to be massive!
KAIFA M120 Smart Meter- Can I change to Economy 7?
We have just had a KAIFA M120 smart meter installed. I had hoped that this would enable economy 7. However OVO at first told me that this was not possible. On a subsequent phone call they told me that it was possible but that I’d have to wait for another installation (meter ?) and that it would cost £325. I am not sure about this as looking online I am fairly sure that the new meter can cope with a second tariff. Does any one know anything about this ? And also where can I get a KAIFA M120 smart meter manual.
Smart Meter daily totals incorrect
Our smart meter (within the app) has been showing a disparity in daily amount of energy used in pounds (£). Our worst disparity to date was the 11th February 2023. Our hourly usage of gas totalled £1.03p but the daily amount shown was £2.64p. It cant be a rounding up issue.I have been told that my standing charge is not applied to this daily amount. This has happened on a number of days and now we are wondering how much we have been overcharged since we’ve had the smart meter 14 months ago. We’ve contacted SSE on approximately 6 times, answered by a South African call worker with a huge language barrier and are told every time that the smart meter is “functioning correctly”. We have had no engineer attend to our address. I have emailed the complaints department via email and the only reply I have had has been from the Ombudsman. We feel completely helpless with no-one to contact unless the Ombudsman can help us
Why did I receive a communication about booking a smart meter appointment if you're not currently installing these in my area?
why why and why - a National drive fir smart technology, letter from Ovo advising to book a smart meter installation yet zero intention of installing anything in my area - Highlands. discriminatory practices by another powerful and monied utility
OVO SMETS2 smart meter In Home Displays (IHD) - GuideTutorial
Updated on 14/12/2022 by Emmanuelle_OVO SMETS2 smart meter In Home Displays - Your Guide How to identify the OVO-supplied IHD models It’s important to understand what type of IHD you’ve got before trying to troubleshoot any issues. We’ve issued four different types of S2 IHDs so far. Currently we’re sending the new Chameleon IHD6 (referred to as simply IHD6) to members with S2 meters. You can find a description of all four IHD types we provide below. IHD6-CAD-PPMID - also known as the IHD6 This device looks similar to a Pipit IHD, as it's got a black front, white back and a touch screen. If in doubt, check the device has the word "Secure" written at the bottom of the screen - if it doesn't, then it’s an IHD6 and perfectly compatible with S2 meters. IHD6-CAD-PPMID IHD7-CAD-PPMID (IHD7) with Temperature Sensor This device looks the same as the standard IHD6, as it's got a black front, white back and a touch screen. The only difference is that this device has a temperature sensor in i
Why isn't my PAYG smart meter showing my current balance?

Can someone please help me my in home monitor on the gas is showing loads more gas than am actually using if phoned up everyday but no one seems to be helping me if done all the tests they’ve asked and still the gas is showing £20 when if fact it’s only between £3 to 4
The OVO app and website showing different usage
The Ovo app is not showing the same electricity usage as the web page. I have an EV and I keep check on the power usage on the Ovo app and it has been misreporting usage. In some cases the EV charging has been completely missed. On the 8th Feb it reported that I was charging in the early hours when it wasn’t and then missed the short top up charge about midday and missed the charge commencing 22:00 which was due to carry on to 03:30 on the 9th Feb. However, the web page agrees with my usage. I’m happy with the information on the web page as my costs are in line with what I’m expecting. This is not the only instance but this seems to have started only recently. I can no longer trust the app data.
