How can I take an export reading from a Landis & Gyr E470 type 5533 smart meter?

I  am unable to access the reading for generation on my meter (Landid & Gyr E470 type 5533). The suggested sequence does not work:  I cant find any manual for thsi particular modelany sugggestions?

Spiking consumption at 3am?

i have got hourly consumption data but that shows unbelievable i am using more power at 3am, any ideas how this can be?  I dont have night storage heaters or anything like that and im asleep at that time…

My bills have increased this month, am I being billed correctly?

i think there might not be anything i can do since the gas per unit prices has increased in jan 2024 as announced before. so OVO take my readings automatically which is correct, however i regularly chekc my account, it was £90 last i checked 2-3 days ago, when i checked yesterday, it has now shot up to £215...talk about having a heart attack lol. my mum is on holiday so im currently in the house by myself in a three bedroom, i only use the heating for 5 hours per day since start of december. il show picture showin december 2023 and then this month: ^ left hand side is gas for decemebr, right being january this month. how has it gone up 6x?my last bill was £160 for gas and elec, now i could potentially pay in the next bill £330-£350 can someone help me with this please? is there a way round this at all?

Smart meter installation problems - poor signal?

Hi there, New to the community but have read numerous posts on this subject and have learnt a lot in the process!Brief history is that I bought an EV, moved to OVO so as to benefit from favourable EV tariff, have been trying to get a Smart Meter installed since May, constantly get fobbed off with e-mails/conversations like the one below and am no further forward.  I live six miles from Colchester, not in the NW of Scotland.Aside from the fact that I think the e-mail below is appalling - who is going to understand a mail like this without the technical knowledge required - what I would like to know from the amazing people on this forum is this:Is it so unusual that a T3 aerial would be required for installation (if this indeed is what they mean by “an issue relating to T3 aerial”)?  Is this for installer to provide?  Could I purchase one so that there would then be one less problem?  Is it a genuine excuse to cancel the installation appointment?The mail says that it would require the DC

IHD showing £0 for gas?

Got up this morning to find my smart meter gas reading was not showing.  Heating been on all day but total on IHD is zero.  Checked readings on my account but also no readings.  Electricity is fine.  Will this fix itself or do I have to contact Ovo?

Gas meter is clocking incredibly high usage with no one in the house?

We have been seeing incredibly high gas usage for the last few months or so, even when no one is in the house. We’ve not even had our heating on yet and it’s mid December because we are so concerned about the usage clocking up just using the boiler for hot water. For example on Sunday no one was home between the hours of 4.30pm-11.30pm and we clocked up around 60kwh of usage according to the OVO app:For reference I live in a moderately sized 4 bedroom flat, in a block of 5 flats. We are currently only using the gas for hot water for showers or washing up.Temperatures are now below freezing so we want to put our heating on but with the extra usage clocking up our bill is already unmanageable and we are lost at what to do next. Can anyone offer any advice?

Can I switch my Smart Meters to half hourly readings?

I had SMETS2 gas and electricity meter a installed a couple of weeks ago. So far so good, however I’m wondering if / how I can switch them to 30 minute reads? I’d like more granularity on the usage data ideally. Also, I’m finding the gas readings are very binary; maybe because it’s summer and we are not using a lot, but it seems to be counting in chunks - e.g one day we will use nothing, then we’ll use a set amount, the next day it’s exactly the same amount. This seems a bit odd.

Failed smart meter installation, what next?

Booked a smart meter installation several months ago and an engineer turned up for the appointment. After an initial survey he advised that smart meters could not be fitted in my house because the existing meters were not separated. He then advised that a kit was available to sort this problem but to date I’ve had no follow up. can anyone advise?. Clive

I've got smart meters, so why did Morrisons Data Services come to read my meters?

Hi. I am a bit concerned that, even though I have a smart meter, someone from Morrisons called to read my meter. I thought having a smart meter obviated having someone call to the house. Fortunately my daughter was at my house at the time as, if I had been on my own, it would have made me very uncomfortable.

Trio II issue

Recently had smart meters installed (SMETS 2 Meter) the installer never left us the in home display so had to contact ovo who speedily sent out the Trio II display, there are no instructions with the device I've switched it on and recieve connecting to smart meter followed by meter not commissioned.On the SMETS 2 meter  the WAN and HAN light indicators are off no lights.How do I go about resolving these issues.

Are GEO Trio II Different Versions / Firmware Update Possbile?

Hi all - new member to the forum with a question on the Geo Trio II.I seem to have a slightly different model than is shown on any of the websites.  It’s a non touch version, but it doesn’t have any notification LED at the bottom of the device.  It’s also wifi enabled, but doesn’t have a dongle to provide this, the wifi module is internal to the device.I’ve been able to connect it to the geo Home app successfully and was wondering if firmware updates are ever provided, and if so how they are delivered?  Looking in the manual for the version of the device with the LED at the base there seem to be some display customisation options which are missing from my device - and I was wondering if they are available with a newer firmware?   Looking at the forum it appears that @Blastoise186 is your resident expert on these devices, so maybe they would know?My current version details are as follows:Model Number: Trio II Hardware Version: 01 UI Version: 2.3.4 JN Version 1.139.242.0 Firmware Version

Why is my overnight usage shown on my smart meter In Home Display (IHD) so high?

My smart meter was installed yesterday at 7.40 this morning my electric usage was 42p & gas usage was 28p. Even taking into account fridge/freezer, broadband, TV’s on standby overnight 42p electric seems high. The gas at 28p is a bigger mystery as no gas was used overnight (heating is off at the moment). Does some of the cost include a daily standing charge? Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Am I being over charged? Is my smart meter faulty?

Hi there, I’m curious to know if I’m being over charged with OVO Example in the image below from my December usage During the 22nd-29th my property was empty and all electrical devices were turned off as I went home from Christmas But I still got charged around £6 per day? Last week my direct debit was increased to £113, today it was increased again to £198 I live in an all electrical maisonette, one bedroom, two storage heaters and water heater The heaters only be used a few hours at night There was major delays and difficulties getting my supply switched from BOOST to OVO  My meter was set at zero when it was installed around the seconded week of December  It read over 1000KWH at the end of December How is this possible if I was only using the recently switched power supply for about two weeks in December ? Why is the usage showing when I wasn’t even with OVO at the time, or when the property was empty? Why does it say I’m using around 20KWH per day? This makes no sense ? What’s goin

Gas Smart meter failed battery failed and I'm off supply - How can I get an emergency appointment at the weekend?

Smart meter failed.  No display. Will not wake up, no warnings (Audiable) or on the smart meter in-house display  Spoke to Cadet they said the meter faulty.   Why do smart meters fail closed?  The fail appeared on Saturday afternoon, Central heating boiler detected no gas ignition.  Cadet said OVO are responsible for the meter and require it to be replaced.  Just seems mad to fail closed.  No heating/hot water for nearly 2 days.I assume as the fault is with the OVO there will be a compensation owed for inconvenience. Meter approx 10 years old.

Loss of Gas Supply Following Transfer to OVO

Hi All I’m looking for help and advice in getting an issue resolved that is currently on day 2 with no resolution. I’ve transferred from British Gas to OVO on 02/01/24. I was a prepayment customer (Pay as you go) with British Gas and applied and was accepted as a pay monthly customer with OVO. I have smart meters for both Gas and Electricity.  Unbeknownst to me, My Gas Smart Meter stopped functioning correctly prior to the switch, the meter stopped communication with the network and would not receive payments from British Gas. When I have switched to OVO the meter should have switched to a Credit setting as opposed to Pay as you Go. Because there is a communication issue with the meter this means it is now stuck in Pay as you Go mode. I have no way to top up the meter with British Gas anymore as the supply has transferred, and I have now way to top up with OVO because they have me as a pay monthly customer. I am now completely off supply for Gas as the remaining credit for the meter ha

Is a good mobile phone connection vital to be able to export surplus power from Solar EV system?

Hi, simple question, I hope.Can we export surplus EV power back to the grid if we do not have a good mobile signal? We have repeatedly applied for a Smart Meter and been told they will not work here because our mobile signal is not good enough. In an effort to reduce our inexplicably high bills we have installed a solar panel system the returns of which were predicated in part on being able to sell surplus generation back to the grid, via our supplier Octopus. At no time did anyone mention the requirement for a good mobile signal, we have wifi calling via a high speed broadband, but no reliable mobile signal indoors.All this only became apparent when we applied for Octopus's Export Guarantee and they make clear we need a Smart Meter and when we applied we were told they are not currently available in our area! I can't find any advice about this, the lack of Smart Meter seems to be assumed to be a matter of choice not technology, Quite happy to invest in an Export Meter if that makes th

Why does my IHD6 Chameleon temperature keep flashing?

I have a chameleon ihd6 and it seems to work ok finally but now the temperature indicator on the home screen keeps flashing.does anyone know why it does this or what it means ? any help much appreciated

Can OVO fit me smart meters that British Gas couldn't? And can I then use Charge Anytime?

Good morning Im new here and looking at changing my supplier from British Gas who have been shocking.On 3 different occasions they have been out to fit a smart meter at our bungalow and on all 3 occasions they have not been able to do this because the engineer has not got the meter required because our gas and electricity meter are more than 5 meters apart. I would say they are a maximum of 10 meters away with no major thick walls in the way.They have now on the 4th occasion cancelled our appointment before even getting to us saying they have a shortage of engineers then saying no smart meter available.we are wanting to upgrade our aging current car to a EV but with the mileage we do require to be a EV tariff to make it worth while . Is this something that OVO can do if we switch suppliers as OVO has been recommended.

Chameleon In Home Display (IHD) lost connection with smart meters - Any tips to get reconnected?

Hi, 5 days ago my IHD began showing lost connection. It had been working perfectly since install in September. I’ve read on this forum that it could be to do with no mobile reception but we have that and can tell by the WAN red light flashing frequently on the elec meter. (Plus it worked perfectly before). Does the IHD need repairing with the smart meter? Thanks Will

IHD6 resets itself continually every 1 minute 14 seconds. How to fix?

My IHD6 unit no longer functions. So far as I can tell it is physically undamaged. It is plugged in, with a full battery, and visually appears to be trying to work, but it resets/reboots every 1 minute 14 seconds, in a continual cycle. This started suddenly sometime in mid December 2023, perhaps 15th or thereabouts. Has anybody else had this problem? On the second email attempt, I got a response from OVO by email and the lady has said to me “what I did was request that your IHD's firmware be refreshed, which can hopefully get your IHD fully smart and operational. The firmware update should fix your IHD's display in the next 48 hours, in the meantime, please put the device as close to your electricity meter as possible. After 48 hours, can you please switch off your IHD and turn it back on again?”I have done this and I wait and see, but I am sceptical it will work because the IHD6 is not on long enough between resets for the connection with the meter (top left hand of screen) to stop fl

Thankfully our community volunteer has already written a great guide to help you work that one out:  Need to take a reading from one of these meters to submit on your online account or OVO app (download for Android or iOS)? - We’ve got you covered! Have 2 square buttons, one directly above the other, like this?: This one’s known as Type 5424 If you’ve got a single rate meter, you may notice that you’re reading is already showing on the default meter screen. Need to see it back-lit?
