As September statements arrive for those on calendar-monthly billing, I wonder whether we’re all seeing a change in  the MPAN?

Dated 05 September 2025
Dated 05 October 2025

The old MTC (Meter Timeswitch Code) has been replaced by the much more helpful SSC (Standard Settlement Configuration), which records the peak/offpeak timings for those with multi-rate meters. Most SSCs are decoded in this table.

More changes are on the way: MPAN top line has changed on electricity bills - Inspired PLC

I can confirm that mine has/had changed on my statement for September 23rd.

TBH I hadn’t noticed.
Who looks at their MPAN unless they are moving house or have a supply issue?

Thanks @Firedog , I’ve just checked and my statements are the same as well.

OK, so it’s not just me!

Next question: in view of the forthcoming MHHS changes to the MPAN, could we again make a plea for the ‘S’ panel to be shown somewhere in the online account? It’s a nuisance only having it on statements, which may or may not always be available to everyone. Perhaps the Plan page would be a good spot for it, or perhaps the profile page itself. Yes, I know that the 13-digit meter identifier (the bottom line of the panel) is shown on an obscure  sub-page of the profile.

Support agents and others often need to ask for identifying information, so to my mind it would make sense to collocate the different bits. At present, for gasless me, the MSN is on Meter readings, part of the MPAN on Edit meter reads frequency and the account no. on Profile.

Do you know if that’s something that’s ever been posted in the ‘Ideas’ section @Firedog? If not, could get it posted there and I’ll have a chat with the Product team. I’ve checked in Ideas and can’t see anything for it.

I wouldn’t know, and I suppose there’s nothing there if you couldn’t find it. I just know I’ve mentioned this lack of joinedupness before, possibly some years ago.

I’ve made suggestions earlier for changes to both the account site and the help site, but the Ideas section doesn’t look as if it works as intended, with thousands of enthusiastic customers falling over themselves to sign a change.org-type petition. I’ve done my bit in this case - now it’s over to you!

Morning @Firedog,

I’ve fired this one over to our Product team. Can’t guarantee anything here but, if they come back to me, I’ll let you know.

Cheers,

Ben
