This one has been doing my head in for years …… how do I calculate my daily budget figures (Gas & Elec) for my Smart Meter ?I appreciate that seasonal fluctuations mean that you don’t have a meaningful flat daily rate but I can live with that for now.It always surprises me that suppliers don’t provide a tool that allows customers to calculate their smart meter budget figures as I know of several colleagues who have no idea what to use as budget figures.Do I work from OVO usage estimates or should I use my direct debit payment. Latter seems logical but I’m dual fuel so how do I work out what part of my monthly direct debit is gas or electric ?Also, do I have to add my daily standing charge into the budget figures I use ?Any help appreciated !

No communication because the meter is too far away(1st floor up to 7th floor) The engineer said fit a battery in the back of the home unit so it resets itself then take it back up to 7th floor still no communication why the engineer could not complete the installation and do this himself i dont know he has walked away from it. I assume this is a job for OVO engineer.No comunnication

Had a MINI Aceman for 4 months now, charging successfully at home using a granny charger and the Charge Anytime app (connected to the EV). Smart charging always takes over the charging plan and has reliably had us back to 80% by 7 AM whenever plugged in.Plugged in as normal last night, received the expected 2 notifications (charging started followed by charging paused). Got up this morning and the smart charging had never resumed overnight, so car was still at 55%. It’s a bit unsettling with a long journey planned this weekend.What to check? Both MINI and OVO apps seem fine.

As an Ohme Home Pro user I wasn’t looking forward to having to use the CA app, a rating of 2.5 on the Google Play store wasn’t very reasurring.Once I set it up the app and connecting it to my Renault Scenic etech 2023 model the app told me I had a Renault Megane etec 2025 model. No matter what I did it was insistant, just for clarity my Renault account shows the Scenic. It must be my car as it does show the correct battary status. But not a great start.My first couple of 80% charges went well until I need to do a full charge as I was going away for a weekend. Plugging in the car (around 7.30pm) the app sat there doing nothing and after a couple of hours of me disconnecting and reconnecting and whatever else I could think of, it finally acknowledged the car was plugged in but told me I was away from home. Given the hour I let it charge but due this issue I didn’t get the reduced costs.I emailed O

Before I tear my hair out anymore. Can anyone advise or give me a step by step what I need to do.I have the Ohme app which worked great. Plug in, accept and off it went. Until OVO have now, in a matter of words divorced with Ohme. I got the email with the step by step instructions which I followed. Since then I haven't been able to charge my car on the cheap 7p rate and the OVO app doesn't even recognise when the charger is plugged in!I have a Renault Zoe and also have been having issues with the Renault app. I am hoping there is someone out there that actually knows what they are doing as the help desk at Renault and Ovo, in a word are useless unfortunately

Hi, I can see there's an offer for 12 months free Ev charger cover. Does anybody know if there are any cancellation charges if the cover is cancelled within the 12 month free cover period? Thanks

Having moaned here about the change to charging, i thought it only fair to provide an update.having switched to charge anytime but being unable to fix my location because of the crappy map, which apparently some people think is not the fault of OVO, personally I think if you use a service for your customers, you have a duty to ensure it is fit for purpose but….ehnayway, I wrote to the support, after 7 days, stony silence, I rang support, after another 7 days of total silence it has suddenly started to work, I.e. recognise that one of our cars at least lives here. The other one is away right now but there are issues with that one constantly turning off its location data for no apparent reason. So I now need to monitor to see what gets reported, so far it has cost me about 5 hours of my time and about £50 in lost rebate. It would also have been nice if the support boys and girls had bothered to tell me they had sorted my location issue. BUT THANK YOU ANYWAY

I have to leave OVO as my car is not supported by them as part of the Charge Anytime fiasco. (Sorry but been with OVO for over 10 years and feeling a ,little burned by this) I would like to know before I start deleting things - Do I just delete the charge anytime tarif from my Ohme charger then move to another provider? Or is there a requirement to delete my account etc as I have sen on other posts but not sure if this just applies if you are moving to the charge anytime app charging etc? Thanks in advance

Anyone out there have any experience with BYD's and charge anytime? Thinking of replacing my Mercedes EQA with a seal but it's not on the list of compatable cars. Dose anyone know if this might be added anytime soon or will I need to change my charger to a compatable one (current pod point) 

Hi, I had my smart meters installed yesterday lunchtime, this morning my IHD tells me I used a combined gas and electric totalling over £25!! there is no way this is correct. My daughter had a shower this evening for 5 minutes and the electric cost went up on the IHD by £5.....anyone else having these unusual readings? its worrying me as my bill is going to be massive!

I’ve just had a Kaisa MA329b Smart Meter fitted. Has anyone been able to find a user manual for this model?The OVO Engineer said he wasn’t given any information about this meter type, so couldn’t help. 

Trying to get mother-in-law's meter changed in anticipation of RTS switch-off.It started off complicated and it just seems to get worse from there on!Not sure where I am now.Mother-in-law has an apartment in a Churchill older peoples' building (about 30 similar apartments).Back in September 2024 I started with a phone call to book an appointment and was immediately hit with the question of tariff. I thought that I was just booking a meter change, not realising that I would have to pick an alternative to Superdeal. Anyway, after a bit of too-ing and fro-ing it seems that dumb night storage heaters will be best suited to Economy 10 and an appointment booked.It seemed straight forward enough, so only mother-in-law was there on the day of the appointment. However, it turns out that the OVO technician could not do the job. Hi there, On Thursday I done an install at a customers house and I asked him who his energy supplier was and he mentioned OVO, I said you will get the 7p tariff but he said it is going up to 14p is this true?I’ve also been told ohme is no longer going to be compatible with charger anytime, is this true and what if you have a existing ohme charger?  

So….I clearly should have spent time reading this forum instead assuming the OVO offers wouldn’t be so restrictive. I am having an Ohme Pod installed next week and recently changed from a Tesla to a Genesis GV60. I’ve just gone to complete the form to take advantage of the Charge Anytime offer in the app and have now discovered (after arriving here and reading a couple of posts) that I have possibly the most completely incompatible charger and vehicle combo! I chose Ohme as I have to have a specific brand as it will be linked to an Allstar account.Unless I am being really dumb, can anyone kindly confirm that there is no way I’m going to be able to access the discounted rate? My charger is also being installed on the 15th, which seems to be the cutoff date also??

Location ShetlandSmart meter (SKU2 celluar + mesh) fitted last Friday, 06/06/25.  Got electricity BUT it's not communicating with storage heater & immersion heater circuit 🤔Was told by OVO everything is working 'fine' and to get an electrician (at my cost) to check things over.Electrician has established all is working as it should, so back to OVO. Now they are arranging an 'emergency' appointment for an engineer, who will have to come from the mainland. This will only be arranged on Monday now, due to my remote location.Have to use the water heater boost to get hot water and I have no heating. Just as well it's not the middle of winter.I believe my issue could be due to a misconfiguration. From looking at info on the OVO forum, there may be a command that can reset the meter and yhos could be done remotely?!Anyone else had similar issues and have any tips/advice I can relay, so I can get this resolved. for nearly 2 years, I had an Inda Pro charger, and used their legacy Web app for charging.  I had ZERO issues since being forced to switch to the new app, and let OVO ANYTIME schedule charging, i have had constant issues the latest one, the OVO app, says my Car is not connected.  Yet both the charger app, and the Carr App show it is.if I leave it, the car will start charging under the anytime schedule, but my app says its not connected What a junk piece of software this is, please Ovo sort out the interface between APPS!!!!!!

Hi, I’ve been an OVO customer for years and now have an EV - I’ve downloaded the Charge Anytime App but nothing seems to work:It shows my car as ‘away’ when it’s on my drive. The ‘Charge Anytime’ App just says once I start smart charging I’ll see ‘savings’ in app - but nothing so far ( I know it doesn’t credit actual bills straightaway) - so how do I know if I’m actually charging at the Charge Anytime rate ? The app only asks for my car make/model - doesn’t ask for any specific log in details fir the car. When looking at my OVO account, there is no mention that I have ‘charge anytime’ added.Can anyone help, please. 

 HI,I am not a customer of OVO but this the best forum I have found and felt that I could get the instructions I need.Originally Scottish Power installed the Smart Meter SGC1311 (believed to be SMETS1), both Elec & Gas were linked.  The IHD3 worked for just a few weeks and for no reason, stopped displaying data.I now have an account with British Gas and they confirm that they are receiving both meter reading, but have so far been unable to help me with this issue.The IHD3 (black frame) remains idle with no data.  Notice that the WAN and HAN are alive, but it seem that it is not linked to the SM.  I would very much appreciate it if anyone can give me the steps for linking or the contact of a Technician that can.Unit is powered OFF 

As per the title my IHD and gas meter are displaying a stupid amount of gas usage (£2302)for the first three weeks of this month. (My total gas usage for May was only £16) In fact £2000 would be approximately 4 years gas usage for my two bed semi detached bungalow. My online account details show a figure which is as expected of £5.13 gas usage for this month.  why such a discrepancy ? also my online account shows readings of 5719 have been sent on 20th 21st and 22nd Juneyet my Ihd and meter display 63769.440 under meter reading.i tried querying with online chat only to be told that consumption varies and basically the meter is a smart meter and will be correct.  Fair enough if the meter is sending in accurate readings,  but if Ovo were to manually read my meter or ask for a manual reading they’d be getting the much higher read.  I did ask if the reading on the IHD is converted at some point to the reading they use the

Hello, I would like to get a smart meter installed but my house (mid-terrace) apparently has a 3-phase supply, 1 phase each for me and my neighbour on either side. I was told by a different supplier before that they would have to visist my neighbours’ houses to turn off their elecytricity for installation and I would basically have to make sure that they are both in for an appointment. This is near impossible as one of my neighbours is hardly ever in, especially during the day. I did get a new fusebox a while ago and there were no issues at all with cutting the power for installation. Is this doable without my neighbours having to be in?Thanks

Well after some deliberation I've left OVO for Octopus.Reasons are:Inability to run Charge Anytime and Battery Boost simultaneously (...soon)Rebate system for 'add ons', making it difficult to reconcile usage and cost.  Compare with Octopus' overnight flat rate of 7p per kWh.The Ohme saga.Givenergy EV charger incompatibility with Charge Anytime. (...soon!)Limited customer support (has anyone at OVO called Octopus customer helpline?)Handing over control of charging the battery to OVO/Kaluza rather than controlling it myself.With respect to the final point, even though I left OVO a week ago, OVO/Kaluza still control my battery! This results in any programmed setting (the obvious one is to charge up overnight) is immediately overwritten and deleted by OVO/Kaluza.Those of you using Battery Boost and choose to jump ship please note.At what point do we enter complaint/ compensation territory?

Hi,I’ve been trying to setup Charge Anytime to connect with my BMW X5 50e.I don’t have a compatible charger but the car is listed as compatible.Ive downloaded the Charge Anytime App and successfully logged in. It all works up until the point where I need to log into my BMW acccount to give permission. The App appears to direct me towards the BMW USA site (I’m in the UK). I’ve setup an account for the USA site to see if this helps but now just get an error.Ive logged into my BMW UK account outside of the app to see if I can give permissions but can’t find anything.Ive emailed the Charge Anytime team but the only response was to contact BMW. BMW customer services have no idea what I’m talking about. I emailed OVO back and explained that and I think the issue is probably to do with Kaluza or Enode and where the app is directing me.Any help would be appreciated.   

Hello all,I have a new smart meter installed to replace two very old meters recently. After the installation, I realised that the hot water tank (again old style) couldn’t be turn on as it was during the peak time. Also the engineer at site said this would’ve always been the case which I didn’t understand. Because with the two old meters (one peak and one off-peak), I was able to turn on and off the hot water anytime I wanted manually. Now I feel like that I lose my control over the hot water, and it messed up with my lifestyle. I thought to have the economy 9 plan it would be cheaper to turn on the hot water at off-peak hours but didn’t know I won’t be able to turn on when outside the hours. So this is really not the plan for me.I’ve contacted OVO a few times already regarding this issue, as before the new meter it was completely fine, so clearly the new meter stops the hot water to be on when it’s peak time.OVO responses vary, some said to change economy 9 to flat-ra
