Thanks for the ping, @Chris_OVO

We have been offered free quantum dimplex heaters.

That’s nice of somebody! They’re not cheap, and I hope that selecting the right sizes, installing and configuring them is included in the gift. It’s important to have experts involved, and they don’t usually come cheap.

We don’t know whether your meter is capable of recording usage on separate peak and offpeak registers. I wonder if you could arrange for us to see photos of the meter - a close-up clear enough so the markings and display screen are legible, and an overview of the whole backboard the meter’s mounted on showing all the cables to and from it. You can include photos in a reply here using the Insert image button on the toolbar.

If it comes to light that you’d have to have a new meter, that’s quite easy to arrange. Support can help. If the storage heaters you get are the right size for the rooms they’re in, I would think that Economy 7 (E7) would be a good choice of tariff. Most of your electricity usage will be for heating, and then at offpeak times and rates. E7 usually has the best offpeak rates.

Please come back with pictures of your meter if you can, and we’ll take it from there.

Hi @Yanna1 ,

Are you absolutely sure Economy 7 is right for you? It doesn’t work with all heating setups, so I first need to ask what kind of heating you’re moving to, so I can give you better advice.

Thanks

Hey @Yanna1,

Welcome to the community!

I'm really sorry to hear that you need to make changes because of your health. You mentioned that you're taking out the coal central heating. What are you thinking of replacing it with? Knowing more about your new setup can help us figure out the best options for you. Are you considering new radiators or perhaps some cozy storage heaters?

Also, if you haven't signed up for the Priority Services Register yet, I think it could be really helpful! I’ll include more information about it in the article below, so you can see all the extra support we can provide. We're here to help!

@Yanna1 welcome to the OVO Forum, and thanks for your post.

I’m sorry to say that, for some time now, we haven’t had the means of changing a single rate smart meter to be Economy 7, so this is not something we offer. This means that, for you, your best option might be finding a supplier that does offer this, and switching to them.

I’m just tagging our metering expert @Lukepeniket_OVO here to get his opinion on this, as it would be a shame to lose a customer for this reason.

I’ve asked internally to if there’s been any update on us being able to carry out this process, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I have an answer. We have been working on getting this functionality in place and I hope it will be soon.
