Indra smart pro 2 EV charger with discount - does the cost include installation or can I buy the charger without installation cost?
I have just placed an order for a Kia Niro EV.I therefore need an EV charger supplied and fitted, I can see that Ovo offer the Indra smart pro 2 Charger with a £70 discount. Does buying this EV charger from Ovo include instillation? Can I buy the charger on its own without installation cost.
Why is the same amount of energy drawn from the grid with my solar turned on or off? Could my SMETS1 meter or PV wiring be faulty?
I have a very specific issue and I’ve been reading forums looking for a solution for weeks now. Please someone help me where to even start.? Same amount of power drawn from grid with Solar turned on or turned off. BUT if the usage is less in the house than the generated energy by my panels, drawing from the grid stops and it is actually exporting back to the grid. I have a smets1 meter. I did a test the other day. Turned off everything in the house except one appliance which draws 1 KWh. It was sunny so my panels were generating constant 0.5 KWh. I have a Netthings energy monitor hooked up to the Consumer Unit. This showed me that I am actually using 0.5 KWh which is correct as half of my energy was satisfied by my solars and half drawn from the grid. BUT after one hour the smets1 meter outside went up by 1 KW meaning that it completely ignored the solars. I did another test. Same thing, only one appliance using constant 1KWh. Solars turned off. Got the same results - 1 KW up on the sm
OVO Energy Solutions and Cornwall Council 'Warmer, greener homes' project - who to contact to chase up?
We have an application in for sustainable warmth via OVO/Cornwall council, followed by a survey in July. I am concerned that since then nothing further has happened. Please advise why this is and how to chase it up
Solis hybrid inverter with my Puredrive 5kW battery - ground voltage of 195V. What is this and is it a problem?
Is anyone here familiar with Solis hybrid inverter. I have just installed one with a Puredrive 5kW battery. I was flicking through the menus and found running messages. This page shows a ground voltage of 195V. What is this and is it a problem? Pictures provided below.
I thought that the whole point of getting PV cells is to provide our own energy to put into our Leaf, We only plug it in when it is very sunny, and we aren’t using any energy hungry appliances inside. The LED on the charger is yellow, showing that our PV cells are providing the energy. How come Kaluza says that we are paying about 10p/kWh instead of 0?
Now my smart meter shows gas too, I notice without using any hot water nor central heating, when the boiler pumps water around the rads for around 90 secs (I gather it’s to help stop the rads silting up), it also lights up during that time, though the outflow pipe hardly gets warm. The result is 0.15kwh of gas used, EVERY HOUR or so.No gas is used when the boiler is switched off. Does burning gas help prevent silting up?Or are boiler makers just oblivious to waste? Can I somehow stop the gas usage when it’s just pumping around?(Even in winter the central heating is off at night, so why use gas then?)What’s the risk to the silt situation (I have filters) of keeping the boiler switchedoff when not in use (like all summer just turning it on for hot water)? thanks Danny
My usage graph on the web site is showing electricity usage of between 0.7 and 0.11 kwh per half hour overnight between 10.30 pm and 6.30 am. During the day, my usage is as expected, but there are lots of 30 minute times when my usage is zero, so the overnight cannot be appliances that are continually turned on?I then looked at a time when I was on holiday, and virtually everything in the house was turned off - this was in the summer, so no heating, immersion heater, all pcs and tvs turned off. In this case, I had between 0.5 and 0.7 kwh between 9pm and 5.30 am, and virtually zero during the day? What could I have that uses electricity overnight but not during the day, or is this not a true reading?
Possible to transfer solar power I generate at my business to offset my domestic consumption rather than exporting it?
Hello, At my work address I have a 15KW solar system. This is generating a lot of power over the weekend and early evenings. I want to be able to use that power at my home address the other side of town. So I'm generating electricity at one address and want to be able to use that at a different address I'm registered that I live at!! Any thoughts
HiI'm just recovering from the shock of my new renewal quote and feel it has greatly improved the economics of solar cells. My main house roof is east/west but i have a well placed flat garage roof. Has anyone experience of installing pannels on a garage roof? What sort of area do I need for a typical three bed bungalow with retired occupants? Thanks
Hi All, I’m wondering how the experiences have been for people who’ve installed a heat pump to an existing property. What was the buying experience like? What was the install experience like? How has the performance been? And what about running costs of the ASHP vs whatever you had before?Cheers in advanceSteve
Does anyone else have a Project EV charger and uneventfully using the Project EV app?For over a year that's what I did, got home plugged car in and the timer set in my car (Nissan Leaf e+) used the off peak electricity kindly provided to me by OVO.A few weeks back Project EV sent an email suggesting I migrate to Electric Miles, which I did. Setup wasn't straightforward, but it was manageable, however its reliability causes anxiety. Now when I plug in I don't know if I'll wake to a night without charge, like this morning. I went to the Electric Miles app and it's asking me to add a charger (already done, more than once). To be fair, their Support does respond, but not always with a solution. Some replies have been to the effect of stating awareness of a problem and working on it.Is it just me?
Just curious, with this 5p kwh anytime rate, isn't ovo effectively loosing money on energy or is there some kind of carbon credit thingy going on in the background to offset the costs. Don't get me wrong I'm benifiting from this tariff and incredibly grateful for it with the current energy prices, but just curious form a supplier side, ovo or otherwise how can these cheap rates be offered?
We have just had an air source heat pump installed. I am concerned about the insulation and found your forum very helpful. 10m of pipe work from ASHP to house. 13mm insulation. See photos. Would be interested in your opinion. Thank you
We have a heat pump installed but Ovo still charge us the gas standing charge even though we paid them to remove our gas meter and cap the pipes, no one we have spoken to seem to understand that we no longer use gas only electric. It's a real disincentive to having a heat pump, we are trying to be green and do the right thing so this has really upset us as bills are so high as it is. Has anyone experienced similar?
I’ve been encouraged to suggest some energy-saving thoughts, but that’s not the priority at the moment. Just now, there’s too much heat….Some of us are especially vulnerable - the very young, the very old, those compromised in various ways such as asthma - and there will be vulnerable friends and neighbours who might need some helpful guidance. Many of us will NOT bother with the hydration advice - until significant symptoms are obvious. One thing I’ve learned from Services’ Survival Courses is that it’s not enough simply to replace the water. One also needs to replace the ‘salts’ excreted in sweat - especially little ‘uns and oldies. The best stuff for that is a product called ‘Dyarolyte’…. from most chemists. Just dissolve it in water. Several flavours….Next, we’re not good at managing excessive heat. There’s much we could learn from other societies, ancient and modern, who have learned to deal with real heat. Think on this…. Most heat that comes from outside is 'radiated' in so block
Was looking to buy an ev however my local council said I couldn’t install a charging point as I don’t have off street parking and I cannot run a cable across the pavement or as I was hoping to do run a channel under the pavement then cover the gap with a grid really! And we are encouraged to go electric!! But you are only allowed to do this with off street parking anyone else had problems trying to install a charging point at home
Updated on 23/06/23 by TIm_OVO: As well as this great user-created guide to EV apps below we’ve got some great info for prospective EV Owners here on the OVO online community. Why not check out the reviews our members have written about their EV wheels: Or their top tips on what to consider before choosing which wheels to go for: OVO are now fitting electric vehicle (EV) smart chargers. The smart chargers we fit are compatible with OVO’s Charge Anytime add on, for super cheap EV charging any time of the day. One problem being an EV Owner is knowing which apps are the best to download or for a new EV owner you may be thinking… Which ones do I need to install:thinking:First of let’s start with Zap mapZap map is a really useful app which allows you to view every charging point located in the UK. After 2.5 yrs with OVO, the new App and website has allowed me to see the usage figures for my electricity usage for the first time… (it was blank and no one wanted or was able to fix it!).I have a 1.2kW PV installation and am also part of the V2G project, so my Nissan Leaf export about 10-15 kWh per day back to the grid.My IHD therefore often shows a negative figure because we are not using all the PV or the car is exporting (generally around 3kW per hour when operational).Looking at my usage figures, there are no negative values and almost no values of zero… so I surmise that the meter must log into the export data list when the power is negative and restarts logging when it its positive... This means that even on a sunny day, if the usage in the house tops the 1kW we are producing for 1 second, we will get a positive reading on the usage graph… To get a zero reading, we will need to supply a negative value for 1800 seconds of the each 30 minute window. This raises some interesting qu

Can OVO offer a Meter Exchange from Single Phase to Three Phase? Need to upgrade to support some green tech I'm installing!
I would like to upgrade my supply from single to three phase. We are installing solar panels, an ASHP and car chargers and will need the increased supply. I was in the process with SSEN and Bulb, but that was obviously stopped. We then contacted another supplier and they said they would be able to install a three phase meter. We moved to the new supplier, but they have now said they will not complete a meter exchange from single to three phase. Before I move to OVO, please can you confirm that you are able to offer the meter exchange from single to three phase? Many thanks.
Hi there, I just had solar installed over the last few days. It was 14 panels which is 5,460 watts. The inverter is a 5k inverter. I know nothing but queried this, how can the inverter be smaller than the max consumption? They said its normal to under spec the inverter by up to 20% as you never get the max output. When then panels get hot they are less efficient etc. Anyway, when they get up on the roof they say there is actually room for 2 more panels, do I want them? I said yes thats great, but surely now we need a bigger inverter? Now the max output is 6,240W. The inverter is 5k. No they say, you will never get to the max, maybe once or twice a year. So here is the data from today. the very first day. Clearly you can see its bumping up against the max across about 2 hours in the middle of the day. I know its very hot, but I’m told the heat actually makes the panels less efficient?!So my question is is this normal, that I’m creating DC i can’t convert to AC? The 6k inverter is about
