Dear OVO please supply 4hrs of cheap electricity overnight to charge my batteries?

Battery boost is not good enough

Now winter has arrived please guarantee a miniumum of 4-5hrs of cheaper electricity so I wake up to 50-60% of my batteries charged.

This could be from end of October to the end of March.

Battery boost is inconsistant and not good enough!

Please rectify the problem?

Like that’s gonna happen! There are various tariffs already out there and we inherited an Economy 7 rate which we have kept for the last 10+ years. Good for charging the EV and for importing to the battery associated with the Solar panels - in winter we can import at the overnight rate which helps a bit but 5.1 kWh doesn’t go very far. Of course what you gain on the swings… suppliers balance overnight and daytime rates to maximise their returns and gift horses are unlikely even at Christmas.

What problem?
You can charge your EV at anytime. That’s why the tariff is called “Charge Anytime”.
OVO don’t need to “guarantee a miniumum [sic] of 4-5hrs of cheaper electricity” overnight.

Charging my battery pack to 100% between 00:00 & 07:00 during GMT. Lasts to mid afternoon most days with the heat pump running.

Yes, with OVO and on an “Economy 7” plan, so helps to balance out the grid load, just a little and helps my wallet. When we move back to BST switch the battery charging to 30% from the grid and hope there’s enough decent sunshine to to run the house, charge the batteries and even export a little to the grid. Also have Charge Anytime for the EV which does its own thing - can deplete the batteries down to 10% during the day once or twice a week, but doesn’t really matter in the bigger scope of things.
