Hi,We are hoping to remove our two old storage heaters, which do not suit our lifestyle, and replace with new electric radiators. We currently have an old meter and two consumer units, one of which is just for the storage heaters (pictured). I would like to remove the storage heaters, have the new radiators wired into this existing consumer unit and have a single rate tariff.My question is would moving to a smart meter be the first thing to do, and then switch over from economy 7 when it has been fitted? Would the second consumer unit then automatically be set up to run on a fixed rate tariff, or would some further work our end be needed?I have an electrician who can do the work for me, but he’s always busy I don’t want to change over without knowing what’s involved.Any advice on how to move forward with this would be great. We’re hoping not to have to put the storage heaters on again this year.

Hi all,Firstly I am sorry for posting this here but I have met with silence or obstructionism from OVO every step of the way in this and am not being taken seriously at all. I wondered if anyone had any similar experiences to the below or - if OVO read this - someone could actually action these problems. I was a customer of OVO at a property I lived in until 6 August 2021. I gave OVO notice of my intended move out. I then, on 6 August, gave them final readings and did all the account closing items on the online system. I had around £500 overpayments in my account.Until recently I had heard nothing from OVO despite several chasers. Eventually, on 7 September I received an email saying my account was closed on 6 August and my refund was being returned. However, on 17 September I received emails from OVO to say they had signed me up for an open ended variable gas and electricity contract - not saying which property it was for. Hi There,As you can imagine i am looking to reduce my Elec bill and i have calculated 40% of my elec bill is due to charging my PHEV car at night, so i am keen to get on the Economy 7 Tariff and take advantage of the discount rate timings.I previously have managed to speak to Ovo customer service and was told this is not possible due to having a SMETS 1 smart meter which cannot do a dual tariff required for Eco 7 tariff. I asked if i can get the meter changed but was told this is not available at this time, even if i was willing to pay for the change...After doing a bit of digging on here and online to see if there is anything else i can do, i believe i have a SMETS 2 (Landis & Gyr E 470) meter but linked to a Trilliant SEAP-2001-V comms hub which is limiting the capabilities of the smart meter. I believe this is true after reading this.My Current Set up below.My Smart Meter Set up?Is it possible to change the Comms hub alone and not the meter to allow me to get on the ECO 7 Tariff

Hi I have just moved into a house, there is no gas or electric I have been trying now for 3 days to get in touch with OVOi have been informed that the supply is with OVOon Saturday the lines said it was closed at 11am even though the website says you close at 2pm i have been trying to call since 9am I have been hung up or cut off 5 timesive tried calling trough the vunerable person number and options and again disconnected, I’m getting desperate, I have no electricity or gas and I’m freezing coldplease OVO let me set up an account no one seems to want to help

Hi! I've got my smart meter yesterday but something went wrong and my boiler is not working. It's Friday night and I have no hot water until the next week???

Our Liberty 100 meter has started beeping for some reason. There is a code of E1. What does this mean? We also have a message about credit and cost, but we pay by monthly DD. Can anybody out there please tell us how to stop this beeping??? 

this is my current thtc setup in my house.   I was told I couldn’t get my meter changed until modification done to my fuse box set up.  Can anyone suggest what modification is required?

Hi - I’ve just initiated my switch from SSE to Ovo 2-year fixed and I have a couple of questions as follows -  My SSE smart meter was installed several years ago so it remains to be seen whether it will work with the Ovo systems but, since Ovo and SSE are part of the same group of companies, I’m hoping it will be fine.  If the meter is unable to communicate with Ovo, will it still be able to communicate with the in-home display unit?  My meter is not very easy to access and so, if I have to give manual readings, it would be a lot easier to get them from the display unit rather than fighting my way through to the meter itself.  If my existing smart meter is incompatible, how soon will I be able to get a replacement meter installed?     Here is a picture of my meter ...      

Our account homepage says the smart meter isn’t sending a reading and could we help by submitting a reading. But clicking on ‘submit a reading’ leads to a page saying we have a smart meter and don’t need to submit a reading… There’s no email contact on the support page to submit a reading. What’s the solution please?

Hello, everyone. I have an issue with the electricity reader. There were several blackouts last week in our area. Yesterday I wanted to top up the electricity as I have prepayments and noticed that the reader shows NOTHING on its display. So I cannot top up it. I am afraid I will run out of the electricity soon. I tried to reach the support of the company, but after waiting for nearly 20 minutes they just cut the call off.  Any suggestions, please? And thank you for your time to reply.

I have read a similar query where it appeared there was a discrepancy between the smart meter and the display unit injtially I thought this might be my issue, but just now doing further investigation into my £20+ / day costs found my meter is showing the same rate as my display  I should only be paying 34p, even if that is + VAT I appear to being charged far too muchmy bills are scarily high, but it would appear they shouldn’t be as high as you are showing me.      

I’m wondering about the significance of the ‘supply address’ as opposed to the ‘billing address’ on my account.This is in part prompted by my smart meter’s stubborn refusal to be adopted by DCC. When I visit https://smartmetercheck.citizensadvice.org.uk, I’m consistently told that ‘we can’t find your meter.’ One possible explanation for this is that the ‘supply address’ is in a different postcode from the meter itself*, and postcodes seem to have some vital role to play in any aspect of energy supply. Is this a possibility?Another reason for my concern is that if I visit https://switch.ovoenergy.com in order to find out how much I’ll be paying once my fixed-price contract runs out, I see a message reading “Good news! We already supply your home, so we can give you a more accurate quote  ...” But when I examine the Tariff Information Label, I see that this ‘more accurate quote’ is for single-rate electricity, when my meter is set up for E7. I am considering buying a house which has an ashp half installed. a huge amount of work/insulation has been done but not completed. The 3-layer radiators have been bought but not fitted. My question is whether the existing 15mm diameter pipework will be adequate? I read somewhere today that ideally it should be 22mm diameter or more.

I was wondering if there is any mechanism by which I could make a small contribution to the energy bill of someone who is vulnerable or struggling to make ends meet. I don’t think anyone would describe us as wealthy, but we have enough to live on and some left over most months and we could during the winter months possible contribute a bit to someone less fortunate. Does anyone know if this is possible through Ovo? Thanks for your attention.

These meters are pretty ancient looking. Looks like they need replacing urgently !! Please advise. 

Hi all rightly or wrongly, been trying to get smart metres fitted to gas and electricity. Booked up a free visit last year with OVO engineer and he took one look at it and said can't do it gov because your gas and electricity metres are too close to each other.And off he went. So, been toing and froing with OVO and they said they will be able to fit smart metres if minimum distance between said meters is achieved and it will cost me £125 to them to movement the gas metre, or so I thought..… So booked a date in November for what I thought was going to be OVO to move the gas metre and was then told to phone Cadent i.e. British Gas for them to actually repositioned meter. Got a provisional quote from them for £790 to move it less than a metre!! The cadent person also said there is no legal requirement for a minimum distance to be achieved for older gas and electricity installations although these days there is for new installations. Googled it and couldn't find anything relating to it oth

Hello everyone, I am new to the UK and it’s my first time to rent a flat. And the flat is an electricity only flat. No gas. The electricity meter is Elster. Not a smart meter. Not a prepayment meter. My property agent informed me the previous tenants’ electricity supplier was SSE/OVO. After I checked SSE tariffs on their website, they showed me one year fixed tariff (unit rate - 38.05 pence per kWh; standing charge - 50.5 pence per day) and two year fixed tariff (unit rate - 35.91 pence per kWh; standing charge - 50.5 pence per day). However SSE customer service informed me the account had moved over to OVO Energy on 13/01/2022.  So I went to check prices on OVO Energy site. The one year fixed tariff shows the unit rate is 40.03 pence per kWh and standing charge is 50.49 pence per day and a smart meter is required. The two year fixed tariff without a smart meter shows the unit rate is 40.26 pence per kWh and standing charge is 50.49 pence per day . Are these prices reasonable? I saw ot

Right another query from me. :) I have noticed that my smart meter and my remote for my boiler read different room temperatures.. Any idea why? Had heating set for 13 overnight.. smart meter said it was 15 in the flat.. Turned heat up to 16 after I got up.. and smart meter says its currently 18.. No way in heck its 18 in here..  Why the discrepency???? Is this causing any issues with my usage?Any ideas welcome.  

HiJust started to review our usage on the small monitor and don't understand why the hourly usage between 1.30am and 5.30am is almost as high as when i had the washing machine and dish washer on this morning. Any idea? Thanks

I pay for gas and electric on a prepayment meter with a smart meter.  Yesterday the smart meter had £33 credit on the electricity and today it has £329. I know we are getting £67 a month for the £400 grant but this is way more. I’ve no idea where this credit has come from. I’ve had no email from Ova about it. Has anyone else suddenly ended up with a massive credit they weren’t expecting?

I had a smart meter fitted 2 days ago for electric and gas, the IHD shows the electric ok, but the gas side either says ‘waiting for data’ or the gas flame and the price per hour of £32907.60 ( or similar huge amounts) !         the signal is strong
