Just moved house (19/12) and set up account with OVO for gas and leccy.House has old style gas meter and a pre-payment key style meter.The latter is a pain having to keep topped up so requested a smart meter and direct debit payment.However no discover that the tariff is much higher!Prepay:32.93/kWh + 54.19p/dayDD:37.55p/kWh + 55.36p/dayBoth are on standard tarrif/evergreen type.Thought direct debit would be cheaper. And as it stands think that the DD figure is higher than the price cap.Can't figure it out. Talking to customer support is a very painful experience.And why do they bother giving an illustrative charge for the year.Complete waste of time when they base DD on 2900kwh usage but Prepay 2012kWh. Why bother if not going to compare like with like. Useless.

The price of Wholesale Gas has just crashed to a new low. Just 150p per therm compared to 702p in August.This being the case, why are our Gas Bills STILL so high??

I am expecting my EV in November , I’m an SSE ENERGY customer, SSE have pointed me towards ZOOM EV for my EV tariff , they say I have to join OVO .. I’m not at home during the day so all my charging will be done overnight, the info I see is the tariff is set 24hrs a day at 16.7p KWH , I was hoping for an off peak discounted rate …. Can someone Please help, advise and ping me in the right direction if what to do that is the cheapest option thanks

I feel that OVO energy should allow people who own solar panels to submit meter readings via the app .  I find this to be a big inconvenience whilst living in the 21st century,  its all about user friendly. You can provide solar panel customers with an account based on FIT ID’s. This way it can be submitted and save time, it can also then be automated and processed based on last readings just like your standard gas and electricity.In result this is all tracked within the app, I personally then don't need to keep checking my emails or remind myself, as the last email in December I didn't receive from ovo.  OVO energy app will then notify me when to submit the readings.

Hi We had our SMETS2.0 smart meter and IHD last year. Looks like there's still bugs.  😉 As you can see from the attached photos, the IHD is properly synchronised and paired with the meter, the right meter, and it gets the meter readings, and the meter has the right time on it; however, the IHD doesn't have the right time.  No amount of resetting the IHD seems to cure this.  This means it messes up the night mode timings (and also confuses me, I keep thinking it's earlier than it is, lol!) The IHD model is Chameleon IHD3-PPMID / CA30111. The meter is an Aclara SGM1413-B. The communications hub is a Toshiba SKU-1 Cellular. (I have another photo I've not posted demonstrating that the MPANs match on both meter and IHD too.) I know it's not a high priority issue but I thought I'd best feed it back to you.   Julie x  

Does OVO still have an energy fund that can be applied to, to help with an existing energy debt?  I have tried applying to British Gas for a grant for non-customers and they have said that they cannot help as OVO has its own energy fund.

i have an EV and my contract with OVO is up for renewal next month - I also only have electricity with OVO, due to having Oil instead of Gas so i’m not able to move onto OVO Drive !.Is it worth getting the meter installed with OVO if i end up having to move to another supplier?  or wait until i move and get them to install?

My old heritage electricity meter has stopped working, and needs replacing, but I’m in an area with very poor (sometimes zero) mobile coverage. Would OVO still replace this with a Smart Meter but ask me to continue to provide manual readings if it can’t communicate automatically? Is this a viable scenario for OVO?  (I’ve read various posts in the forum but can’t find a definitive answer to this). Thanks

Received any shocking message from OVO again. tariff rate increase is expectable however what we could expect is how come the tariff in December 22 ( Suppose the December 22  rate is under the contract of Oct 22)In our bill, the tariff for power and gas from 01 Oct 22 to 31 Dec 22:-Gas Standard charge  - 31.93p/dayGas tariff rate - 10.56p/kWhElectricity standard charge - 42.53p/dayDay energy tariff rate - 41.69p/kWhNight energy tariff rate - 20.91p/kWh  Regardless the new tariff rate from 1st January 2023, the “current” tariff is totally different. Gas Standard charge  - 33.53p/dayGas tariff rate - 11.09p/kWhElectricity standard charge - 44.6/dayDay energy tariff rate - 43.77p/kWhNight energy tariff rate - 21.96p/kWhAnyone have experience and explain why ?

Today I received an e-mither from OVO detailing how those with smart meters will get 100% ‘green’ energy. I’ve replied (twice now) to OVO asking how this is possible when all electricity is extracted from the National Grid! All I get by way of an answer is the party line about smart meters. Maybe someone on here can explain how the meters only use ‘green’ energy and not the other kind when it is all lumped together!  They must think we’re all as gullible as their staff that regurgitate the smart meter mantra! 

I have tried contacting Boost repeatedly. They are absolutely useless, which shocking customer service. So I am now trying this, as it is ridiculous the amount of time and stress a company I am not even a customer of is causing.We recently moved house (in mid May). The previous homeowners were supplied by Boost. We had the misfortune of being supplied by Boost temporarily whilst waiting to switch to our own supplier. Boost were useless in that short period and caused us a lot of stress. We have been with our own supplier since the end of May.Yesterday we received a hand delivered letter from Engage following an apparent visit when we were not home, stating “This is our final notice before we apply for a Right of Entry warrant”, which is “on behalf of Boost Energy to look at your faulty meter/s”, along with how much this visit cost us and mentions of warrants to enter our home.A few issues with this:We are not a Boost customer We have not reported a faulty meter If we had reported a fau

My fixed-rate contract comes to an end next month, and I’m now in the ‘renewal window.’ I’m trying to find out how much more I’ll have to pay when I’m transferred to a simple variable tariff. The rates I see at two pages at ovoenergy.com are different, by about £60 a year in my case.Can I be certain that if I follow the advice on the renewal page and “pick this plan today to enjoy these prices” I will in fact be billed at the rates offered? I'm paying 47.92 ppkWh on an OVO better energy agreement and was expecting it to fall from today (1st Oct) to something like 34 ppkWh, in line with Ovo's committment to automatically adjust prices as per Govt's Energy Price Guarantee (EPG).  However my Smart Meter is showing no change to my unit price.  My mother-in-law (who lives a mile down the road) is on an OVO SVR account rate and saw her Smart Meter account price increase today inline with the EPG.  Am I right to think the OVO are happy to automatically increas prices, but not so happy to automatically reduce them?  Or is this unfair.  The fact that they are not keeping customer communication lines open during this change means I am unable to ask them directly.  Hence resorting to this forum.

I would like to know how much night usage vs day usage I consume on an annual basis as a ratio figure. My OVO plan expires in Feb and this data would be helpful when looking at alternative suppliers. Analysing every bill I guess would offer this info but it’d take ages and I’m hoping there is an easier way.

I am confused as to why my electricity costs are going up again in January 2023.I thought that we had a Government price guarantee which was fixed until April 2023? I only have electricity as there is no mains gas in our rural Devon village.Even with modern oil radiators, its costing over £10 a day to keep the house at 10degrees C! The recent email from OVO says my day rate is increasing from 39.68p to 40.97p (3% increase)Night rate is going up from 19.05p to 22.84 (20% increase!!) I rely on my overnight rate to heat my hot water for the day.  

Hi, recently my gas/electric has been swapped over to Boost/PAYG tarriff without any notification. Now whenever I try calling Ovo my call gets instantly forwarded to Boost, and my e-mails also get rejected (Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's email provider rejected it.) So I’m unable to contact Ovo to sort this out. Feels like they’ve swapped me over and blocked me from being able to contact them. I don’t really know what I should do about this, I feel utterly helpless to resolve this, currently on the phone and are going to ask Boost to put me through to Ovo, but I’ve no idea if they’ll even do that. gonna be a nice couple 25 minute waits.

Since the beginning of the month I have been unable to see my usage cost data on my account page. Kwh is fine and the in home monitor is working fine. Is it just me or is there a general problem?

Hello.I'm trying to calculate the power consumption of a heat pump so that I can buy an electric generator with the required power production in case of a power outage.My heat pump specifications:  Do I understand correctly that the value specified in the specification "maximum current: 13 Amperes" is the current consumed in only one phase? That is, in total, the heat pump will consume 39 amperes (15600 watts) in a worst case?Or is it the total current consumed by the all three phases (5200 watts)?Also, it is interesting to know recommendations for starting a heat pump from a generator as a whole: what are the pitfalls; how much generator power reserve is needed; what about compressor starting currents, etc.Thank you.

  Hi there, Recent OVO customer, been a long time since I've been one. I'd like to have smart meters installed, but would appreciate some advice as to whether we have enough room first, because access to the gas meter is a tad limited due to some building work (so I want to know before I book to avoid charges). We also have quite an old Electricity meter so I figure I will also ask about clearance/room there as well while I'm here First up, Gas Meter (note, I'll have moved all our stuff out the way!):     Gap is 40cm wide so a bit tight. Would rather not have to smash up the under-stairs cupboard right now. Secondly, electricity meter:     This is our electricity meter box. Its a 1930s house so upstairs landing is the location. As you can see, space between the electricity meter and the DNO fuse is not huge 17cm but perhaps its enough? Any advice most welcome, rather than me booking an appointment and finding out the hard way!
