Can you help? I live in a flat in a converted Victorian building. The gas meter is in the basement and the electricity meter is on the second floor. I would like to get smart meters. Having read up on dual-band comms hubs, is there any possibility that this would allow the two meters to communicate?I guesstimate that the meters are 12 metres apart but the signal would need to pass through three ceilings. There is good mobile signal in the area.If I can only get one smart meter fitted, presumably that would be the electricity meter?Any advice gratefully received, thanks!

I have now taken part in 3 shift & save periods but have yet to hear back from OVO has any one else had feedback from S&S periods.

The latest version of the monthly bill is really comprehensive and helpful, but it contains a fault, probably only for E7 customers. On the Electricity in detail page, there is a consumption figure for last year for comparison at the foot of the left-hand column.I have left no stone unturned in my efforts to minimize my consumption, so I was alarmed to see that last year’s usage was substantially lower than this year’s. So I dug out the corresponding bill for September 2021. The ‘comparison’ figure quoted (114.300kWh) is for daytime usage only. This is from my bill for September 2022:    Panic over 😅 (a 34% reduction in daytime usage since last year), but how do I go about getting this corrected for future bills? 

I am informed my meter is out of test and needs replacing. Am I obliged to have a smart meter? I have a complex WiFi arrangement with multiple access points, I run a local web and email server requiring constant power and I am also a practising licensed amateur radio operator regularly transmitting signals of the order of 50-100 Watts. I already experience serious interference from local sources such as VDSL and other people’s faulty “home plugs”. I have also read of all the issues which can arise from smart meter installation, including reports of electrical faults being introduced by the installing engineer (who on occasions with some companies has apparently been shown to be uncertified) and failure of the installation to properly communicate, giving users sometimes months of grief with much blame-passing between providers of various parts of the infrastructure. I would much prefer to stay un-smart and provide nice, simple meter readings! Is this possible, or am I legally obliged to

I've had my smart meter for 30 months. I was not offered an IHD at the time but have been using My OVO to monitor usage online. I prefer the option of the IHD so just I ordered and received one, but while trying to configure/connect the IHD the WAN light has stayed on solid - not all of the time but for about the last 4 out of 5 weeks. Customer services first told me it would need an engineer visit to fix. Within a few days of my first call things burst into life for a week or two but the WAN light is back on solid again for two weeks and counting. On calling Customer Services again, I was told "the DCC network needs to be reset from time to time and until that happens I need to revert to manual readings". He said the next reset could be in up to 12 weeks. As far as I'm concerned this takes the smart out of "smart meter". I'm expected to do manual readings for the next 3 months ! Is there something wrong with my setup or do I just sit and suffer?

Hi folks I am writing this after months of problems relating to Smart Gas meters and trying to fit one in a semi concealed meter box.Back in 2017 OVO suggested it would be a good idea to upgrade to smart meters. A Lowri Beck engineer was dispatched and he removed our working gas meter and fitted a new smart gas meter. After he left we noticed the meter box lid was buckled and the noise from the meter was vibrating through the house.Without boring you with the whole story...The smart meter was replaced with a new digital dumb meter.. (This engineer said "which clown tried to fit a smart meter in there")The new dumb digital meter also failed with a blank screen after a few months ... This was then replaced with another dumb gas meter...This latest one failed with a blank screen back in March.Since then we can take no gas readings and have been left in limbo. 2 weeks ago my wife received an email from OVO asking us to contact a company called "Cadent" who would be able to provide a concea

… I have read some of the topics on the forum and I fully understand why my meter readings are estimated.  I have no problem with that.  Here is where I need your help.  Many of my statements appear to be in error in that the ‘Closing Read’ (Estimated) on one month do not match the ‘Opening Read’ on the next month.I will try to attach a couple of screenshots to illustrate what I am saying. 

About a year ago I had Ovo update the gas and electricity meters from older traditional ones to new smart meters. However my landlord has indicated a preference for traditional meters for practical reasons, and wishes me to organise an engineer to revert the smart meters back to what they used to be. They argue it’s considerably easier for me as the account holder to have this done. Do I even have this option to revert back to traditional meters? If not with Ovo, would another energy supplier help?Thanks

I have been trying to setup my OVO account.  I get sent an email with a link to set the password and I do it within 2 minutes, but each time I get a message saying:  Your password reset link is invalid or expired.So, I click the link to Request another password resetAnd we go around again.  I’m sick of it.How can something so simple be so rubbish. Since the SSE → OVO change happened, not a single thing has gone smoothly.

Hello, My daily usage on my OVO app used to show in pounds and pence but has now changed to Watts. My monthly usage still shows in pounds and pence though. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks 

I have had an email today to tell me that OVO are now discontinuing the real time usage data collected by the smart gateway. I have been using this (via the api) to feed into OpenHAB and allow my smart-home to make decisions based on the current usage so am extremely disappointed at this decision. However, i'm hoping that there is a way forward using the smart gateway. Looking more closely at the device it seems to be a fairly standard telegesis zigbee data collector. It has a web based management interface but I do not have the username/password for this. Does anyone know what it is? If I can get into the config then the sever that it posts to could be changed to my own one and then OVO can switch off whatever they like! TLDR; Does anyone know the username/password for the smart gateway management interface?

Hi all,Just moved into new rented accommodation with electric heating and water with a combi boiler which seems to be showing about £2.70-£3 an hour estimated cost on the smart meter when heating is on. When boiler is on and ticking over is even showing about £2.30 an hour even when heating is off.  Is anyone else on a similar system and know if this is normal as it seems a lot? Sorry have come from being on oil so not used to this type of heating.CheersChris

I was an SSE customer, and was “migrated” to Ovo. I also changed address a couple of years back. Now when I try to register for an online account the system, the application process takes me back to details of my old address account. It’s as though it recognises my longstanding email address as being applicable to that old address.  It would be easy just to give up trying, but I need to submit meter readings. Pressing option 2 on the phone merely generates a message that “the service is not available right now but you can wait and we’ll connect you with an agent.” Cue elevator muzaak. Then, after a couple of “The Queue is 10 minutes long” messages there is a brief brr-brr ringtone and . . .  disconnect. I receive paper bills and so what I do is to take the (invariably wildly inaccurate) Economy 7 readings and work out my bill myself from my actual readings. This isn’t an exercise in trying to reduce the amount requested - it can work the other way too. Had solar and battery storage installed in December. All working as it should and inverter is showing solar generation, as is the Solar company’s app. But on the OVO portal and app our kWh consumption is unchanged, despite solar company data showing that we’re generating and using solar. Rang the solar installer and they advised to contact OVO as they needed to send an update to the meter so it will record correctly. I spent 5 hours in the web chat queue today to speak to someone. Eventually reached position 3 and then never got any further. So I thought I’d ask here first whether anyone has heard of this before and will a simple call fix the issue or not? Just looking to hear similar experiences before I face another day of waiting in a long queue to get nowhere.

A simple query…..after entering electricity readings of 26400 then 26456, a total of 56 units used, which equals 56kWh, why does my OVO online usage show 55.80kWh. As it is simple subtraction why is it showing to two decimal places? as readings are in whole numbers not fractions. 

Hi, I recently signed up to the Charge Anytime Add on, I have a Supported Car Jaguar IPACE linked to a PodPoint solo3. I have linked my account, setup a schedule ready by 7am, min 25% Max 90% and all looks good.  However as soon as I plug the car in its starts charging.  its not beneath the Min of 25% its sitting at 50%. I was expecting it to start charging later tonight. Do I need to do anything else ? I have no schedules setup on the car or the podpoint as Im expecting the App to do that. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue? does it need to learn my charging pattern or something for a few days ?  Any help appreciated.  Thanks

I have 3 phase electricity with a dual rate meter. I would like a smart meter. I have asked my electrician and he says that it is very easy however the OVO technician who came to fit a smart meter said he couldn't do it. So I am paying over the odds for my electricity because OVO will not put me onto a single phase and install a smart meter

We have this year installed solar panels and storage batteries to supply an alternative 240 volt circuit to part of the house to reduce our electricity cost. This has worked out well and our electricty supplied by OVO has dramatically reduced. Now OVO  on entering the latest meter reading is questioning our low meter readings.Any advice on how we proceed with this? We have no issue with the company inspecting our meter or checking out our solar system.

What are you supposed to do when engineers don’t bother to turn up for an agreed appointment. Metre hasn’t worked for a year!!!!!!!  My elderly sister who lives alone is at her wits end with worry about her bills and she hasn’t had her metre working in nearly a year. She has short term memory loss and is assisted by carers yet Ovo consistantly break promises about sending someone out to check the smart metre. They are totally aware that it doesn’t work. They tell lie upon lie. Customer service is shocking!!!!!!So what would everyone do????????  

Hi all, Having just registered my interest in the Warm Home Discount 2019-20 the registration process finishes with this message: "Thanks – we’ll be in touch as soon as you can apply for the 2019/20 Warm Home Discount." I'm wondering if anybody can tell me when OVO will be in touch for me to apply for 2019-20 discount? Also once one has filled in the online form and registered interest in the Warm Home should you receive a confirmation e-mail? Thanks your help, Clare

Why is there no contact OVO email address on MyOVO home page or any where else on the site Does OVO not wish to be bothered by customers? If not please say. Then I can help by moving to another supplier. Have noticed others on forum are having same problem. Can anyone suggest a supplier who likes to hear from customers?

I've got two questions about the new OVO online account pages. 1/ Are the calorific values used to calculate monthly gas charges shown anywhere on the OVO pages? My apologies if they are displayed, but I've missed them. I raise the question because you need to know the relevant calorific value if you're trying to check your gas charge calculations - right through from the meter readings to the final amount. Under the old arrangements the relevant averaged calorific value was recorded on your monthly gas bill. As far as I can see you can't download an 'old-style' gas bill under the new arrangements - and I don't think the calorific value is included on the new web pages. I know you can download calorific values via the [url=https://www.nationalgridgas.com/data-and-operations/calorific-value-cv]National Grid website[/url] - but this is a palaver because you have to filter out the daily values relevant to your local zone and then average them over the charging period. For my sins I have noted monthly usage for my gas and electricity for the past 5 years and thought smart meters would allow a consistent regular means of recording my utility usage. Since my Smart Meters were fitted Feb 2017 my electricity has readings have been comparable with previous years but my gas useage has not. Who at OVO is able to check that my gas meter is working properly , first proper month (March 2017) after installation reported 208 units gas compared to an average for this month of 75 units previously. So I tried using OVO’s online chat - that was at 9.30am - was told the queue time was 18 minutes and an agent was on their way…… 3 hours later - nothing.Could someone please tell me if they are actually opened on a Saturday thanks?
