I've previously posted with regard to my hot water and heating both being wired up to the off peak meter even though the storage heaters were replaced by thermal radiators before i moved in.  What I'm trying to find out is what hours the cheap rate actually is.  If i knew this then i could time my heaters to be on during these times rather than on the expensive rate. I just keep getting told it can be between 5-12 hours which is very vague.I know it changes depending on weather etc but surely there is a way of finding what those hours are.The sooner they phase out thtc and change my meter the cheaper it will be for me.Any help greatly appreciated

We have an advice of a planned power cut for next week and I wanted to check what happens to the data feed from the smart meter. During the outage, presumably nothing will be sent as the meter will not have power? By nothing I mean, not even a zero figure, so how will the system react to this, possibly thinking that the meter has gone off-line

Have just bought an EV. We have an Economy 7 tariff and plan to charge mostly overnight. Is it worth getting Charge Anytime? I read EV charging is 10p per kWh but all other uses are charged at Standard Rate under Charge Anytime. Any advice!?

Why do my pvs give energy to the grid when the batteries are not full?  

We have recently had solar pv fitted, with iBoost on the hot water tank to use any generation excess.I am trying to get a figure for the savings made by using the solar pv to heat the hot water rather than the central heating gas boiler. There is a 3-way valve to control rads & hot water separately. This raises the question:Does 1 kWh of immersion heating produce roughly the same amount of hot water as 1kWh of a gas boiler heating the water? I realise it will not be identical due to efficiencies and losses, but are they similar?I hope to be able to compare costs of heating hot water by pv or gas, ie loss of SEG payment vs gas rate.Then I will know the savings to be made.

I’m hoping anyone on here can shed some light on this.Before I go into the issue in more detail, my questions is as follows:What can cause a manual reading on an ovo smart meter (when you press number 9) to be different to the smart readings ovo are receiving? History (mainly so I can keep a record of whats happening as its starting to get confusing).Over 4 years ago Ovo came out and installed an electric smart meter. During their visit, they were unable to install the smart gas meter (since it was semi submerged in the ground in a box). As such they only installed the electric meter.After a month I noticed that due to my thick walls, ovo was not receiving any readings. I contacted ovo who came out and installed an separate aerial. However, once connected the meter started signaling it had a WAN connection so the external aerial was left inside the house (in the cupboard with the meter) instead of being mounted outside the house.

Earlier this year I had a standard rate smart meter fitted. Since then I have bought a plug-in electric vehicle and I think it may be more economical to charge at 'Economy 7' overnight rate. I have two questions...... 1) Is it possible to retrospectively change a smart meter to dual rate mode? 2) If yes, what are the current costs for each rate? Many thanks for your help.

I’m having problems with my EV charger. The manufacturer couldn’t help and it was referred to OVO to send an engineer but I’ve not heard from OVO about a visit. Getting through to OVO EV support is a nightmare, holding on for ages and then getting cut off and having to start again repeatedly. While writing this, their holding ‘music’ is playing the background in a loop for the umpteenth time! I just want to know if and when an engineer is calling. Anyone have any advice, please?

Car is 2022 X1 30e hybrid which is on the anytime list.I have a pod point solo home charger. The car is set to immediate charge when plugged inThe OVO anytime app is set for car to be charged by 8am Frequently when the car is plugged in the pod point clicks to a red light indicating a fault.Also,Automatically, The car sets itself from immediate charge to a random planned departure date and planned charge period. The car does not charge. Is this a compatibility or hardware issue?

Hi has anyone had trouble after a smart meter was fitted with their charger ? I have as the meter was fitted correctly but a clamp that must be in place for the charger to work was omitted. Ovo refused to come out and help in spite of many requests and denied anything was wrong. Most irritating. Now fixes BT replacing clamp

Ecodan COPGood morning  , I have just looked at the COP for March and seems to be 1.25 , which I believe is poor. 1.48 DHW and 1.10 for heating . I have the heating on weather compensation mode and hot wat at 45c eco mode .  New system just in since end of January so new to all of this !!!  4 bed detached , no UFH , 20c downstairs and 18c upstairs . 10 PV solar panels 4kw. Anything I should do to improve COP?

Hi there, newbie here to Ovo and to smart meters - and certainly not an expert in electrical setup.We moved into our new property just 10 days ago. Still surrounded by boxes to unpack.I’m feeling a little stupid, but for the life of me I can’t find our electricity meter (or if I’ve found it, I don’t recognise it as one). I’ve found the smart gas meter, next to the gas boiler. This is a SMETS2 meter installed in 2021, with red A and black B buttons on. If I press either of them I get a gas reading with ‘m3’ units. There is also a honeywell smart thermostat. I’ve searched all around the outside of the property (front and back), and all the rooms, corridors, etc for the electricity meter. It’s not a huge property so there aren’t many places it could be.There is an electricity ‘meter box’ outside at the front with the standard triangular key. Inside there is a big Series 7 100A cut-out fuse box. But there is no meter as far as I can tell.The pre

Why is there no option to change my smart meter installation date online? Despite their text massage saying I would be able to change it online. It’s Saturday and I want to change my appointment from Monday to Tuesday, but if the only option is to phone them then I can’t do that until Monday morning since the phone lines are closed at weekends, which is less than 24 hours notice, and hence a  £30 fine. 

We live in a first floor flat and have an EV. I’d like to charge it overnight - that’s the greenest electricity. I’d be happy with 3kW per hour as 9 hours charging would give me 27kW or 100 miles. I need to get the electricity down the stair well, out the front door and across the pavement. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion?PS to make it worse our home is in a conservation area

Maybe someone has some experience and can help.I had charge anytime on my account linked to my Ohme pro. It was working fine and I was getting credit.one thing that annoyed me with Ohme was the the car info wasn’t correct. So battery capacity and mileage. So spoke to Ohme and they added the car with correct info. However they had a big what’re you couldn’t change car. The only way to get around this was to delete my Ohme account and set up another. Which solved that problem.as part of this I realised I would need to remove the charge anytime add on and then re link to my new Ohme account.  and of course ever since I havnt received any credit and I don’t know the fix for this now.I have deleted all schedules on Ohme and re set up.I have removed the charge anytime add on again and re linked but have not been able to get back to getting credit.have sent info to OVO however said it can be up to 14 days for Somone to look. 

The list says XC40 (2019-2021 only), I’ve got a 2022 Volvo XC40, its the same surely (except minor body panel) from the previous years all the charging and electrics are the same, motors etc.Is this a mistake and it should be included, if not when can we expect support if there is some minor difference?I tried selecting 2021 but it couldn’t find my vehicle when the app contacted volvo.. :( 

Hi, I have a Mercedes EQC400 on order and am trying to determine if it will be compatible with the Anytime tariff. From what I understand, OVO are saying that you can use a compatible car OR a compatible charger.However, I cant see the car on either the OVO compatibility list or the OHME compatibility list on their website.Therefore I'm checking if anyone knows if either will work with an EQC.If anyone has experience with these tariffs / cars then please let me know how you’ve got on.Many ThanksScott

Trying to move from prepay to direct debit credit-smartmeter system. Engineer said "consumer unit blocking cut-out access so can't install until sorted". Need landlord permission to get electrician. What is the issue here that we should describe to the landlord? Unless we get someone from electricity provider to come out again, I don't feel we have enough info to ask for an electrician to come. Do they need us to get the consumer unit moved, or the cut-out moved, or the wood moved, and permenantly or temporarily take off? Any idea? Thanks.

I have been trying to get a new heating system to replace electric storage heaters for over two years as my bills are very high in winter. I was told by one company that I had successfully got ECO3, but then so many delays happened that it was no longer valid and I had to wait for ECO4. Meanwhile the company closed down and some of the people started a new company. They told me after several months that I have been accepted for ECO4. That was about half a year ago now, and again, so many delays have happened and appointments cancelled by them that I've lost trust. This has been going on since 2020. The latest I heard from them is that it'll definitely be done a few weeks ago, so I moved all my furniture and wall decor away from walls etc and moved into my partner's place and I'm still here almost a month later. Recently they said they're delayed because they'd "run out of money", as ECO4 funding is only given after the job is complete, so they need to buy everything ou

Hello all, I’m new here. Got some problem with the meter when I moved into a rental property last week. Googled a bit and seems like there are a lot of useful resources and helpful participant in this forum so tried to post a question here. The property is an apartment in a block and all meters are located in the basement of the block. I’m not expert of meters but below few things of mine looked suspicious:It may not be showing clearly in the photo but there is a “X” at the bottom right corner of the display. Looking at other meters of the same model around, they are showing a square sign at the same location of the display. The red light is always on. Again - the same light of other meters is not on. The reading has been stale since I moved in last Friday. There are 5 lights (SW, WAN, etc) at the upper part. They are always off for my meter but showing green lights for other meter. What should I do? C

We switched to OVO some time ago from British Gas who’d already installed smart meters. Crazily the BG smart meters can’t be read by OVO. About 18 months ago an OVO engineer came to fit new meters & we found that while the electric meter could be swapped within the available space the gas meter couldn’t as the model OVO uses is bigger than the BG one. As we’d just finished a cellar conversion we didn’t want new cupboards etc ripped out to accommodate new OVO meters. Does anybody know if there are now smaller gas smart meters same sort of size as BG version now available?

Hi All,I’m interested in having a 3-phase smart meter installed. I’ve read current status with installs but had two questions re tariff and billing for when the time comes if you can help? If I’m on a competitive fixed tariff at the moment that’s due to end later this year, will having a new meter installed mean I’m moved onto a new tariff? I expect not but never done this before.    I have 3-phase supplied to my house but I actually only use a single phase at 100A. Does the way metering works mean I won’t see a change in energy consumption and cost because the smart meter effectively adds the use across the 3 phases? Ie 3000 kWh on one phase, but 0 kWh on the other two = billed for 3000kwh? Plus a single standing charge as it’s one meter? I have a 3-phase “heritage” meter at presentIm eager to have one fitted in order to access smart tariffs in future for EV charging. Rationale for having 3-phase smart meter fitted was to future-proof
