we have gas central heating controlled by standard thermostats with heating timers. since our smart meters were installed on friday our heating will not go off, its ignoring the timers and thermostats, its costing a fortune. any help gratefully received.

When I first moved to OVO, I didn’t have an IHD, but now that I do, I’ve figured out why my usage seemed so strange. I have an electric boiler, and I’ve noticed it uses electricity even when I’m not using hot water or heating. Sometimes it runs for hours, and other times just for about few minutes. The usage varies between 3kWh and 6kWh. Is this normal for an electric boiler, or could there be something wrong with it?

On the Tado website it looks like there are two versions of the Wireless Smart Thermostat Starter Kit V3+, one with OpenTherm and one without. Does anyone know if the one that Ovo are selling is the OpenTherm version or not? Thank!

When I first started charging using the Kaluza web app I completed a section “Profile progress” under the “More” section. Since then this section has always been marked as complete(100%).However, I’ve just looked at it today and it shows as 66% complete. The section that is incomplete is “Tariff details” and when you go to it you see what you expect - “Charge anytime”, with a link to the account and a boost warning . No problem I thought I’ll fill it in again, but you can’t, there is no means to feed it back.Anyone else have this issue or is it just my machine?

Ok, we bought this small semi detached property 2 years ago and noticed our meter and trip switches were in a different location to next doors.There does not seem to be any large sealed fuse before the meter/switch board or if there is one, the board would have to be removed to access it, all whilst the unit  is live.This came to light last year when we applied to OVO for a Smart Meter to be installed, engineer came out, had a look and said it could not be done as no access to said sealed fuse and tha would need the transmission company to sort that out, OVO were to apply for this but we have heard nothing since 2023, can anyone advise what to do next, there is a sticker on the board from SSEB dated 1990 so a long time before we moved here.

Hello, I have been quoted by SSEN for an upgrade to my current supply. I am currently using a single phase to an 100 amp. They have offered a split phase supply 40kva to a 100amp. However I would obviously need a new meter. OVO don't seem to support a split phase supply? Could this be used on a 3 phase meter?  

Im having problems charging my electronics at night and at w/e?has anybody else noticed when charging mobiles / tablets/ laptops with high speed and ordinary chargers and cables that work perfectly during the day, have in the last month become unable to charge anything. it is only during night and at weekends that the problem happens, my equipment works perfectly and recharges without problem during the day. Am i experiencing brown out where the voltage is reduced slightly so electric things still work but not efficiently and rechargable batteries really do NOT like different voltages to recharge.I found in the past, my camera does not work with any old rechargable battery it needs to be a specific voltage to work the circuit board.does anybody know why this is happening There are a lot of electric cars around here now, upgrade to power supplies is patchy. i know national grid is

My Solis inverter always shows limbytemp whenever it's around 30 degrees Celsius outside. The internal temp is around 84 degrees Celsius. It's not in the sun and is in a breezeway. The fan seems to be working. Is this normal. Any advice would be much appreciated 

I’ve suggested to a friend that he will get a more comfortable heat from his combi boiler with radiators by turning the flow temperature down and running the heating for longer. He’s done this and agrees. However, his recent boiler service engineer told him not to do this ! He said “Condensates can build up and cause corrosion to components (long-term). Units are designed for mid- to high-running.” Odd that they can be turned right down then…. 🤔 How true is this about the corrosion?

Hi, I’ve used charge anytime successfully on 3 vehicles. I am now struggling with a new Kona. It won’t charge the car to the settings I put in both apps. Not had this issue before, any ideas?

As we’ve got plenty of Air-Source Heat Pump early adopters here, we’re hoping you might be able to share your experience of a little discussed aspects of your heating system: drainage. Have you noticed your outside unit emitting water? If so are there any factors that increase or decrease the amount of water released? 

Hello,While charging my EV,  I have noticed that OVO energy pauses supplying current to the wired wallbox pulsar max charger.This causes the charger to error and it turns red. Then when the current is resumed it turns green and car resumes charging.This was causing me great deal off stress not knowing where fault lied, as I first thought issue was with charger? But thats not the case due to pause and resume - current fluctuation its the chargers behaviour.OVO energy does this when the energy is not green. Today there is no green energy and my EV charger is failing to charge at all?Can you confirm my understanding and provide a resolution?Note : I have not signed up to green energy.Despite uninstalling charge anytime the pause resume persists.Many thanks    

Last night, I took advantage of a DFS Power Up event to test a storage heater. The event was 04:00-07:00. I made sure the switched (Economy 7 offpeak) circuit was live, then got up at 04:00 to switch the heater’s charging bit on, expecting the ALCS to switch it off again at the end of the offpeak period at 07:00. I was surprised to see these figures in my half-hourly usage data (courtesy of Bright):     The two hours 04:00-06:00 show the power draw of the storage heater, rated at 3.3kW So, the total stored by my heater was ~6.6 kWh, much less than the 23 kWh this Dimplex QM150 is allegedly capable of storing. Could my ALCS have ended the offpeak period (nominally 00:00-07:00, Region ID 11) an hour ea

So confused, what is most efficient way to run heating. At moment I do not have it on timer (as advised) I have it set at 19, then turn down to 15.5 when too warm in flat. I have my water on timer coming on an hour in morning & hour at night. I have 2 bedroom flat and live on my own. Being a pensioner I need it to run efficiently. Thanks 

To cut a long story short…..at the insistence of OVO we had a smart meter fitted at our holiday home in The Highlands of Scotland and were told that we had to opt for a tariff as the new meter would be pre programmed and we opted for the economy 10 tariff.Having given the system a few weeks to settle down I look at our account and see that it is still showing the Simpler Energy THTC tariff, so I email OVO to see what is going on.An hour later I get a phone call that says we are on the wrong tariff and that Economy 10 has been renamed and does not exist.We then get an email to say that we are being put on the same tariff “Simpler Energy THTC” as of tomorrow with much higher charges than quoted when we agreed to economy 10.I am left completely confused and feel totally let down by OVO. I envisage a long struggle ahead.Is Economy 10 still a tariff?Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so do you have any advice on how to continue? Any

Just got a new Dacia Spring. We have a charger to be installed next week and it isn’t an Ovo one. At present, the Spring isn’t listed as a model that is compatible with Charge Anytime. Is there any indication of when (or if) it might be added to the list?

Hi there, I have a Daikin Altherma 3 H HT installed last year with a buffer tank which means the Daikin is mainly working on the living temperature based on the weather curve as it does not have a thermostat connected to it. There is an option to use “modulation mode” which gives the Daikin the possibility to fine tune its leaving water based on the indor temperature and the target temperature. To use this option though I would need to remove/bypass the water tank/circulator and get a thermostat connected to the Daikin.My naive view is that running modulation mode allows to take advantage of the inverter technology and have the Daikin automatically running all the time at a minimum power and get closer to the objective of having the heat pump just constantly compensating for the heat loss.Are there people on the community using the modulation mode on their Daikin?I would be happy to get some feedback on how it works.Many thanks and so

I'm looking to purchasing a VW e-Golf and trying to find out if it's compatible with OVO anytime. I will be using the standard 3 pin charger. I have read conflicting info. On OVO checker it says not compatible but I'm sure someone on the forum said it was compatible. Also the terms and conditions say it is,https://www.ovoenergy.com/terms/anytime Please can someone clarify?

HiMy smart gas meter was changed on 7/11/24 as it hadn’t worked since moving into our new property in 2021. It has been set up for half hourly readings, looking at the usage it seems to be working, apart from the fact it is 2 days behind. Today is the 25th and 23rd/24th are not yet showing tomorrow the 23rd will show in the usage is this normal? The electricity usage is showing up to the 24th. Hope someone can explain this to me. Thanks. 

Looking to purchase a VW egolf 2019. completely new to this EV world.what do I need to consider? 3 pin until I can get a charger installed? Outside temp set up? The charger cable is too thick for letterbox option!any charger I need to get based on using ovo?cheaper tariffs for EV charger needed? any advice would be great for a complete newbie.thanks 

Hi, I’m new to the forum and was wondering why electricity usage would fluctuate through the day from 0.0 to 0.32 when no one is in the house and there are only 3 applliances plugged in, 2 x freezer 1 x fridge?  All other sockets were off.

Hello!Yesterday I set my ground floor thermostats a couple of degrees higher. I thought that would keep the pump on to reduce the cycling. (more an experiment than anything)This morning I noticed there is still cycling but strangely coincides with intermittent spikes in the reading from the outdoor temperature sensor.Can anyone suggest what could cause this? 

I recently acquired a Mitsubishi heat pump ecodan, which is currently set to compensation curve mode, and I am using an Emos thermostat in my living room. I would like to switch the heat pump to Auto Adaptive mode. However, the desired temperature is being measured in my garage, where the heat pump is located. It seems possible to purchase a wireless Mitsubishi thermostat (PAR-WT50R-E) to address this. However, I would like to know if it is possible to use the existing Emos thermostat instead to save costs.Thank you in advance for your help!   

Changed OVO tariff from E10 to E7 on 22nd of November 2024.Account plan says E7 and in house monitor and meter shows E7 off-peak tariff from 23:30 hours to 07:30 hours (yes 8 hours, my neighbour has the same times).  The problem I have is my Dimplex Quantum storage heaters off-peak feed socket still gets power 3 times a day from 13:30 to 16:30 then 20:30 to 00:00 and 04:30 to 07:30 but are on peak rate. (E10 off peak times.)This means I only get E7 off peak times from 23:30 to 00:00 and 04:30 to 07:30 to feed my storage heaters. 3 and half hours a day off-peak energy.I informed Ovo and have an Advanced Resolutions member scratching her head and saying everything is ok OVO end, it must be my heaters.   I don't feed energy into my house at different times of the day that's what OVO do. I contacted the electrical company that supplied and fitted heaters and the said Ovo supply the energy at Ovo times.OVO arranged an engineer to come out and look at my meter
