Hi, I’ve just joined OVO and I’m unable to link my Volvo 2024 Recharge to OVO Charge Anytime. I’ve tried several times but the Volvo app just says sorry, your accounts can’t be paired at the moment. I have the Pod Point which isn’t recognised so the smart charging will be via the Volvo app. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, D
It will depend on your set up
Without a compatible charger, you should be using the Charge Anytime app not the Volvo app
Great I’ll have read thanks. Maybe the next step after linking accounts would be the charge anytime app?
The charge anytime app only have the XC40 hybrid
Without a compatible EV, you would need a compatible charger otherwise CA won’t work

With a compatible charger, you use the charger app/control to link and operate.
OVO energy app now linked to the Volvo app, smart charging via the Volvo app now in progress. Thanks for the help
Hey
I’m really glad to see you managed to get your charging all sorted thanks to BPLightlog! Thanks BP!!

Good evening. I have a 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge. The Volvo app is linked and there is now a smart charging function in the app which is highlighted as active. If i toggle the smart charging on it does nothing. The car doesn't charge through the evening.
I have a Zappi charger. Which is set to stopped as if any other option is selected the car charges straight away.
In OVO CA app the XC40 Recharge isn't an option, there are only hybrid's, so i cant set that up.
OVO customer service tell me my setup is compatible with CA and to use the Volvo app only. From everything I've tried it appears my setup isn't compatible.
Anybody able to offer any assistance? I'm pulling my hair out!
Cheers
Hi
You need to use the Charge Anytime app to control charging - not the Volvo or Zappi apps. All schedules and Smart Charging stuff outside of the Charge Anytime app also need to be disabled too - the Charger should just be set to offer charging whenever the EV asks for it.
Try 0330 175 9678 Option 2 though as this gets you direct to the Charge Anytime team. I think they need a chance to dig deeper so see what they say.
Hope this helps!
Hi
The Volvo app should work if you have the smart charging function available and selected. Your charger needs to be set to manual so it charges as soon as you plug the car in, the Volvo app will then control when it charges. If it’s charging straight away, the app might be doing its thing and you can confirm in the smart charging history where it shows how many kWh and money saved.
The chargers has 4 settings - stop, eco, eco+ and fast.
Fast and eco - the car charges as soon as they are selected.
Stop - nothing
Eco+ - is for solar excess charging so wouldn't expect it to do anything.
Volvo smart charging is selected throughout and there is no manual option. Also nothing I can see in zappi settings to allow the car to control the charging.
Hi
I’m sorry to hear this.
I can see others have already stopped by with some good advice here. Let us know if you’ve managed to get this sorted. As Blastoise has mentioned, reaching out to the team might be the best bet.
I have today changed from a 2021 Xc60 recharge to a new Xc90 recharge, 2024 and am unable to match it to the charge anytime app. I don’t think I have a smart charger, mine is a Shell Home Advanced box. Help! I really want to be able to access the benefits of Charge Anytime.
