I appreciate this has probably been asked and answered many times, but I've just topped up my Ovo card, inserted into my meter and the gas valve hasn't opened. There's £58 on the meter, the meter says ON B3, but I've got no supply.
This hasn't happened before, it usually opens after a few seconds. I was directed by the Chat Bot to call 0800 111999 and they hung up on me.
I'm working a late shift tomorrow and I'm not going to be able to get anything done now until after Christmas.
It's quite an old meter. I've attached a photo of it. Is there a procedure to get the gas valve to open?
Thanks.
Chris

Hi Bradley.
Thank you for getting back to me.
I have now resolved the issue this morning. It wasn't the meter, it was the boiler below pressure. I haven't changed anything, like bleeding the radiators, but I've now repressurised the system.
It was purely a coincidence that I topped up my card, but didn't apply the credit straight away. Then the gas went off and I assumed the meter had run out of credit. I didn't think of the boiler being an issue.
Thank you again for the reply. Appreciate your help.

There could be a number of other reasons as to why your supply may appear off, check these handy topics below for more on what might be causing the problem:

Just a heads up by the way. It looks like you’ve got a 2012 gas meter, so the battery is probably below 40% remaining capacity at this point. You should have enough to go for at least another year or two - remember that this is just an estimate - but the battery will eventually run out. You’ll know when it gets close as the Meter will start showing your battery warnings.
With that being said, now might be a good time to think about upgrading to Smart Meters. You don’t have to do it right now and you might want to wait until the Summer to let the RTS → Smart Migration finish first, but it would make topping-up easier even if you’re not near the Meters when they get low.
If you’re up for it, head over to https://smart-booking.ovoenergy.com where you should be able to set it up, otherwise give 0330 175 9669 a call.

Hi there. Thanks for the reply.
I've just had a new electric smart meter installed, but declined the gas meter as I had something to do and didn't have time to wait around.
I'll look into getting a new gas meter in the new year.
Have a great Christmas everyone and thanks again for the replies.
