When I first moved to OVO, I didn’t have an IHD, but now that I do, I’ve figured out why my usage seemed so strange. I have an electric boiler, and I’ve noticed it uses electricity even when I’m not using hot water or heating. Sometimes it runs for hours, and other times just for about few minutes. The usage varies between 3kWh and 6kWh. Is this normal for an electric boiler, or could there be something wrong with it?
There will probably be various settings protecting against frost or even just keeping hot water ready ‘just in case’. Of course depending on what it needs to raise the temperature to will be different depending on the weather and so there might well be differences in running and usage.
Do you have a manual at all ? You might find those settings and be able to adjust them.
I second it. Worth checking manuals.

Just checked with my landlord, and he said this is normal behavior for an electric boiler—it keeps water hot and stored in the container all the time.
