My OVO energy

Does anyone know how and when I'm likely to receive my £5 for this survey? 

Good eveningI ran out of gas this morning and activated Emergency Credit (£15.00) via my card.  A few hours later I topped up my gas card with £5.00 and put it in the meter.  The normal “please wait……..” sign came up but then it went back to the first meter screen (I think it showed £15.00 emergency credit) and then went to the “please wait screen” again.  The next screen that came up was the amount of £0.01p being taken to pay back emergency credit.  It then asked me to press A which I did, however nothing happened (the meter screen was frozen).  After a while it went back to the “please wait..” screen and the £5.00 credit was then added.  However, instead of going back to the first meter screen, “please wait….” appeared again and a second £5.00 was added.  Therefore I currently have £10.00 credit on my gas meter when I only paid for £5.00.Can anybody tell me what has happened here?  Is the meter or gas card faulty?  The meter was installed back in 2007 and the gas ca

Anyone else on Superdeal noticed that the afternoon 2 hr boost has vanished? Could understand if this was the summer but in winter it is imperative for storage heaters.

Hello, I'm a student sharing a flat with one other person. Because of this, we split the energy bill 50/50. I usually ask for the money on the final day of the billing period every month, but I've found that it always gets boosted up a couple days later for some reason and I always end up shortchanged. So my question is - how long from the end of the monthly billing period does it take to generate a bill, and therefore start the next billing period? Ours ends on the 2nd every month, so I expected a bill today, but nothing so far.TIA! 

Am concerned about my account - one thing my app doesn't seem to have the same functions etc as the help area for it. I've been on the phone to OVO twice today via the support line (money gone out) and still don't know if I'm dealing with OVO or scammers. Any suggestions?

Final reading from old supplier did not match those provided for your first. The electricity is right, but the gas is incorrect. Final bill says I must inform new supplier of the difference. Can you please help?

I always send my meter readings on the due date and then check my account to see whether they’ve been activated. I submitted readings on July 8. They still have not updated my account by today, July 11. Usually the updates happen within the hour. Anybody else not able to see how much they’ve spent in the past month?

I just wanted to share a cautionary tale with the community. I set up my 2 year fixed rate account at the beginning of the year and somehow managed to amass credit of £255 which is ridiculous in of itself but hey ho.Anyway I got an email yesterday suggesting that my DD would in fact be increasing by another £17 per month from the next payment. But I’ve got an excess I thought. Ok, if they’re going to increase the payment I’ll just withdraw the excess and offset it that way. Not so fast sunny boy, you have to “apply” for a refund of your credit. What about if I tried to switch to a different rate? Sorry no.  So I went over to USWITCH and surprise surprise, I managed to lock in a fixed deal, With OVO and based on my consumption year to date of £120 per month, not £167. How odd. So I signed up for it, but OVO have somehow decided that they’ll charge an exit fee of £190 or £95 twice. This is despite the contract that I signed stating that the exit fee is £90. So the

A friend of mine, an ovo customer, has a debt of £1,400 approx. His DD is now about £140 a month. I'm thinking about helping him.My question is, if we try and pay off at least a sizeable amount for now  - for example half - Will this enable him to reduce his monthly DD?

Hi everyone,Getting desperate for help now.  Ovo have last month billed me almost £3000 for a 3 month period back in 2020.  I have a separate final bill received back in 2020 which shows as paid, in fact it actually shows a credit balance.They are now persistently threatening me and chasing for the £3000 which I clearly don’t owe them.I have phoned multiple times, I have emailed them as per their complaints procedure (on 18 July) I have also whatsap’d them.  I’ve had no response to my email; when I phone they say it will be sorted; in whats app they give up.How on earth do I get the complaints team or frankly anyone at Ovo to actually address this issue please?Thank you for any advice.. 

Is it normal after submitting a meter reading on the 22/7/23 to be asked for another meter reading via the app and for it to be done ASAP?New to Ovo after moving over from SSE

Hi All,We had a mitsubishi EcoDan Heat Pump for the last year, Installed November 2023, in our rented house.  Everything has been working fine untill we had a power cut last month. The heat pump wouldn’t turn on and we didn’t know what to do. Our landlord was informed, they came out to the heat pump and did a system reset. This fully reset the system to factory default prior to the power cut.The heat pump now works, but whenever we make certain changes, the settings dont save for long before they return to default. We have set the DFW and this remains at the adjusted setting so isn’t an issue. The problem is on the main screen of the control panel, its set onto flow mode i believe at 55’C(See picture), whenever we change the heating mode to heat room at 20’C and adjust to 18’C, The system always returns to flow mode after a period of time. is there a way of stopping this? We’ have never had this problem before and i suspect its because the system has not been set up th

Hi, I’ve been off supply again all day, (all night earlier in the week) an SMSL engineer was due before 6. OVO told me I could reach them till 8, I can’t, online chat said they would call me at 6, another lie. Does anyone have a number for SMSL? I can’t go another night without power. 

I was struggling to top up my key meter until payday and got in touch with OVO. I was given an RTI to get £75 credit but the repayment rate on the meter is £3.50 a day. I realised that due to the high energy costs and the fact I’m all electric heating this repayment rate will leave me in a worse situation than ever so I don’t intend to use it. It was only for a couple of days anyway. I’d rather switch my heating off! I’m getting a new pay as you go smart meter on Thursday.  Am I correct in assuming that if I don’t use this RTI code and continue to top up then nothing will happen? 

Has anyone been left without electricity during winter with health conditions that rely on electricity (oxygen) arthritis also? How long for engineers to arrive? Don't ovo have duty of care?

Hi there!According to the Ovo usage tracker my house has used 299.5kWh of Gas since the first of November. I thought this perculiar as we have not had the heating on and our shower is a power shower, the only thing that gas is used for in the house is the hob and heating the hot water for the taps (washing up and washing hands). I checked meter readings from today as well as comparing it to when we first moved in in July, and using an online calcuator calculated that the entire volume of gas that our meter has registered since moving in would only be around 200kWh.Does anyone know how to solve this? Or at least explain why the usage tracker has such a skewed value? Our meter has only been sending readings to ovo once or twice a month, I don’t know if this is something that might have caused this. When I try to manually enter a meter reading I get an error as well. Many thanks,afbunn

This weekend I’ve completely run out of gas, emergency gas and real world money.I’ve not been in this situation before so went through all the appropriate channels OVO provide. The website is very clear the phone numbers and chat are open on weekends, however, if you are part of the thousands of of blundered accounts still on Apollo you cant use those channels.Lets skip the usual grandiose scornful rants and just get to the nitty gritty.When requesting to be moved to OVO a few years ago (before boosts implosion) after a long arduous process with boost due to a simple error they made. Lettergate. They messed it up, only my electric was moved over to Direct DEBIT no probs. My gas remained with boost.Boost was using the Apollo payment network, or something, its very difficult to find genuine information. We have a new gas connection being fitted soon and want to get Ovo to supply gas (we have Electricity already).  Called to try and arrange fitting a new meter but there seems to be no process for this.  How can I do this? 

Hi All, new to the Forum but having a real issue. We have modern Dimplex Quantum storage heaters connected to our THTC (SSE Horstman K series) meter which works on the radio signal. We are on the OVO Simpler Energy tariff. It has been working fine last few years but a few days ago we started noticing the storage heaters not putting out any heat. They normally charge up off peak overnight and then release heat through the day. From looking at the meter and input data on the Dimplex we only appear to be getting a few hours of heat input overnight - some nights none - not enough to look near heating the heaters. We have changed nothing so can only assume a problem with meter/RTS signal/OVO. Have reported to OVO and a meter engineer is supposed to be coming. We are in the North of Scotland with SSEN as DNO. Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated. 

Hello. Has anybody else noticed that the app is not updating with your current balance, whether credit or debit? App has been deleted and reinstalled. Customer care is aware of this issue but it’s been two weeks now. 

I need help switching over from boost to OVO I’ve tried number of times to make a new account up in the app and can’t seem to do it

I’m in an urgent situation! Please help. I’m newly moved in and registered OVO services on a fixed monthly plan since 19th Feb. My traditional gas meter’s battery was not working and required a replacement. Unfortunately, an engineer wrongly installed a PAYG gas meter for me. I have never received a top up card ever. I join the monthly plan instead of PAYG. I spend hours to call for emergency credit every day and all credits runs off in a day. I keep trying to request for an urgent top up card delivery. Yet, nobody from OVO could help. I feel so desperate and helpless. Weather was cold these days and my kids keep freezing. What I request for is an urgent top-up card only. So that I can top up by myself while waiting for scheduling reinstallation of non-PAYG meter. I called hotline, sent e-mails, chatted in chatroom. No positive feedback i

Hi there. I hope someone can help us with a very confusing issue. We are with Ovo and have a smart meter. Every month since we moved here two years ago, our electricity usage has been fairly consistent - only slight variations day by day, a bit more in winter, a bit less in summer. But in November this year it all changed - the day to day usage is sometimes very high and sometimes much lower. We do have a plug-in hybrid car so the ‘spikes’ might be us charging the car, but we’ve had the car for the last 2 years and nothing has changed in the way we charge it, so don’t understand why the patterns have changed so drastically. (The overall total is up too). We wondered if maybe Ovo had changed the way they calculate the usage or something? Any thoughts gratefully received.

I've recently moved to a bungalow, it's just me and I only use the radiator on the bedroom on 20c for around 2 hours every night and my bill is over £100 pm  !  My shower is electric. Gas only used for radiators. I don't use much tap hotwater at all, rarely actually to save... and I washing in a bowl  I can't really understand the kW in the ovo app.  Could someone explain what I'm possibly doing wrong to cost this much?!   Am I better to use my sitting room wall electric heater? 

I’m considering getting a new Renault 5 EV when its released in the new year and I’m trying to find out if it will be added to charge anytime.  We already have a Tesla M3LR but we have a dumb home charger (installed 3 years ago) so the Tesla is connected directly to charge anytime rather than via a supported smart charger.  I don’t really want to shell out several hundred £ to get a new smart charger so I’’m hoping the new 5 will be supported directly there are already quite a few Renault’s on the supported list.
