What the trial is
We’re excited to have you participating in our trial, which aims to help shape the future of heating. You’ve been invited to join our group on the OVO Forum, where you can learn more about the trial and share your thoughts and experiences with other members.
To help you understand how the trial works and what to expect, we've compiled a list detailing the objectives and the benefits you'll receive in return.
We've welcomed team members directly from OVO onto the Forum, as well as some of the team from Havenwise, so they'll also have access to our discussions.
Please keep an eye out for any surveys you receive. Your feedback is crucial to the development of this project in the future.
How the trial works
The trial is run in partnership with Havenwise, a UK-based company that specialises in the control and optimisation of heat pumps.
To get started, you’ll need to download the Havenwise app to set your heating and hot water temperature. You can change this throughout the trial. Once you’re set up, hit ‘Launch optimisation’ in the Havenwise app to start the trial. Please note, you need to get set up on the app to take part in the trial and get your £50 shopping voucher.
Havenwise will then operate your heat pump remotely in the background during greener times of day¹ based on your personal temperature settings.
The trial will end on 31 March 2026. And your heating schedule will return to how it was before the trial.
We want to hear from you
We’ll send you feedback surveys along the way.
- Welcome survey: at the start of the trial, we’ll ask you for information about your home
- Monthly surveys: during the trial you’ll be sent surveys each month. These will take no more than 5 minutes to fill in
- Interview: we might contact you for an interview towards the end of the trial
- Final survey: once the trial’s finished, we’ll send you a final survey to see what you thought of the whole experience
You’ll earn a £50 high street voucher
Once the trial’s over, we’ll send you a £50 high street voucher to thank you for taking part.
If you opt out of the trial before it ends, or don’t set up the Havenwise app, you won’t get your voucher.
