I moved to OVO on the 17th April. I was previously with British Gas and I have a SMETS1 Smart Meter. How long do I need to wait until I can get a SMETS2 meter installed?

My Mitsubishi ASHP was installed last year, to run the existing radiator CH system.  An extension with UFH was about to be built and the installers left me with a separate pumped connection for the UFH.  That has duly been completed and connected and been running by connecting the UFH pump in parallel with the existing CH pump - ie I have one zone.I now want to separate the CH and UFH into separate zones.  I have the contacts from the UFH wiring centre connected to IN6 (Room Thermostat 2 input) and the UFH Pump to OUT3 (Zone 2 space heating).I have turned on DIP switches SW2-6 and SW2-7 but keep getting an L5 error (Indoor FTC temperature thermistor reading incorrect value, thermistor disconnected or wired into the wrong connection on the board, incorrect dip switch setting on the FTC board).  The manual tells me I don’t need an indoor thermistor if I’m using the remote wireless controller.  I have also tried changing SW3-1 and SW4-1 but still get an error cod

I’ve downloaded the new Ovo Charge app (that allows you to see charge points on any of the affiliated networks and potentially pay for cheaper PAYG rates). but when I log in with my Ovo details it doesn’t recognise that I have charge anytime connected to my account.Has anyone else encountered this or have anyidea how to overcome? The app has no support function at least not until i can log in!

I had a new smart meter fitted (around October 2023) after moving over to OVO because when I switched from EDF to OVO for some reason my off-peak stopped working and I had an issues with the Economy 7 tariff. Since that emergency appointment my off -peak came back around 11:30pm during autumn/winter off peak times and it has been working.All appliances connected to the off-peak rate circuit were always ON instead of turning on and off during rate changes. As mentioned above OVO sent an engineer that supposedly fixed our issue. All appliances connected to the off-peak rate circuit are now all OFF during both peak and off-peak hours. I waited till 1am on 29- April -2024 to see if my heating would come on as even during peak times my booster switch was placed on and didn’t boost anything in regards to my hot water.Our heating system consists of storage heaters which are all connected to this off-peak circuit so we are now effectively without heating. Hello please can someone enlighten my concern. During day time we usually used electricity just more than 1 pound sometimes less, but during midnight when we wakes up around and before using electricity again we had been charged already by 2 pounds including the standing charge ( 2 pounds plus just in the middle of the night? ) is that really normal ? During night only boiler for heating water plus refrigeration are on standby. Thanks

Hi. I am new to the forum. I have been with OVO for 10 months and I have had 2 SMETS2 meters fitted not long after I moved to OVO. Unfortunately, the system has never worked properly since installation ! What used to happen intermittently was one of 2 scenarios: The WAN light used to go off and my smart meter would stop sending my meter readings to OVO or the HAN light used to go off and my IHD would stop working with the message "waiting for current data"  being displayed. Last week all 4 lights (including the WAN and HAN lights) continued to work on the meter (they all flashed on once every 4 or 5 seconds) and yet my IHD stopped working which had never happened before whilst all 4 lights were working !? A couple of days ago the IHD came back on again but despite all 4 lights still displaying on the meter, my meter readings don't update on the OVO app. How is this ?  I thought

Updated on 06/06/25 by Ben_OVOThere are often questions from those looking to install solar PV on their home regarding whether batteries are worthwhile. I've often commented how important batteries are to get the best from any generation system but perhaps today I can show why. It has been a reasonable day for solar generation and the batteries have taken excess power which would otherwise be ‘lost’ to the grid. The image above shows how solar has mostly powered our usage and added around 50% charge to our battery storage (consisting of a bank with 14.4kw storage capacity).At present, it is slightly overcast but there is still 725w being generated which covers the house requirements and continues to add to the battery storage. 

On return from holiday, I noted that gas usage was indicated when there had been no demand.  Subsequent checks, after a no-fault leak test, confirmed that with no demand, gas usage of nearly 0.5 cu. m. per day is being registered.  Postings on Money Saving Expert’s forum (Gas Meter Still Increasing Whilst Gas Isolated) refers) triggered me to wonder whether my meter could also be incrementing when the gas supply is isolated - and it is!The meter is a Landis & Gyr Libra 310P.  The meter label appears to show an installation date of 2011, and after the cu. m. consumption display, the character ‘F’ is displayed. I have been charging my BMW I4 from home with no changes over the last 6 months. For some.reason the last 3 attempts at home charge for 2 mins and then stops. I charged it a petrol station fine a few days ago and it was fine so I know it's not an issue with the car HELP Hak

Help, we have had air source heat pump fitted with solar panels and back up battery. This is our first winter with this new system and our electricity bills have tripled, we are afraid to turn the heating on. Our bill for the last 3 months is £1150 when it hasn’t been exceptionally cold. How can this be?

 This shows the Month of April up to now. Wallbox info on the left and OVO Anytime info on the right. If you add them both up, you end up with almost exactly the same numbers total. So why are they so incredibly different day to day and how do they end up nearly the same at the end ???? Why is this so confusing? It looks like the Kona is often charging outside the Anytime schedule and by this I mean, the car is charging, but if I go to the Anytime App on my phone, it’s showing the schedule as due to start in several hours time. New gas and electricity meters installed in London SW15 on Thursday but not commissioned. Phoned OVO on Thursday morning as requested by Lee (the installer) and was told I would be phoned back in 24 hours, but this hasn’t happened. Have tried to fill in the form for smart meter problems on the app and put in the serial numbers but it responds by saying these aren’t recognised and that I should phone. This means waiting until Monday. I am really disappointed by the lack of response to my request which is made worse by my not being able to get through now. The serial numbers are 22L4******7 and G4F2212******0. Please advise on the best way of getting this problem solved.

It is vitally important that electricity meters record accurately; meter readings form the basis for billing, so inaccurate readings will have financial consequences for both buyer and seller - customer and supplier. Meters have to be certified by the manufacturer to achieve a certain minimum degree of accuracy, and customers can usually assume that their meters are recording their usage with an accuracy of better than ±1%.Customers with multi-rate tariffs like Economy 7 or Economy 10 have also to be confident that the readings on which their peak/offpeak usage is based are also accurate. I understand that the Ovo API is not intended for non-Ovo use, and any use is not supported by Ovo.  However, the Home Assistant Ovo integration looks useful, so I thought I’d try it.The integration has loaded in HA, but fails to initialize, claiming an issue with the JSON returned by the API.  I suspect that I’m hitting a security lockout that HA is trying to treat as JSON and therefore not understanding.Does anyone know if the HA integration does still work? Is there anything I need to configure to get it to initialise?Thanks!

I am just about to buy a Hyubdai Kona I want to make sure it is compatible with charge anytime and also that the charger is also compatible I have been told that the Kona needs to be 2019 or later- but not told why.also the charger should be an indra also not told why. Can anyone help ensure I get the right car and right charger.  

So you overtook bonnet to get a app for public chargers, which i was excited about until I read that to get a discount I have to pay £8 for 15%… and I am a ovo customer were is the loyalty in that.. Its starting to make me rethink my supplyer, espcially as octopus gives its customers on ev tarrifs charging discounts at public charger via the octoverse app…. mmmmmm

Hi there,The previous occupants, as OVO customers themselves, left their smart meter for my use. My heating bill is astronomical. Is there any way the smart meter could be contributing? It's a Trio 11? Am I entitled to ask for a new smart meter of my own to ensure it is performing accurately?Thanks!

Hi, first post.I had a smart meter fitted by EDF a couple of years ago.  It’s definitely SMETS2.  It interfered with my wifi network, but it did work well, for a few days.I complained to EDF about my wifi and they came out and turned the meters dumb - they’ve been like that since.I’m now being told by my current supplier that meters in dumb mode cannot be switched back to smart mode and they need to be replaced.  The meters can’t be replaced as nobody can get hold of them apparently so they won’t come out.Trouble is, I’m absolutely desperate to get them back to being smart again - I have an EV and want to get on a dual rate tariff, otherwise the car will cost more than petrol to run soon!I’m not buying the answer that it’s impossible to make ‘dumb’ meters smart again - so is it true?!Thanks!

I think I have a Smets 1 smart meter, fitted over 2 years ago. The IHD I received with it, never worked. Since then I've asked many times, if I can have a replacement. I get told that there is a problem obtaining new units (over 2 years!?) The last conversation said I was on a list to get one. I also  got promised an update, which I never got.  I've heard now that I might not get an IHD until I get an upgraded smart meter? Anybody in the same boat as me? Anybody from OVO care to comment?

Wondering if it would make my heat pump more effective if I built an enclosure around it and had fresh air fed into the enclosure by a tunnel that will essentially pull warmer air into my heat pump?

We are having a 3 phase meter being installed for an electric boiler. I wanted to know if the meter is a smart meter and will it be compatible with our solar panelsfor the export readings ? 

Why have I not got a home display with my smart meter 

I’m a bit undecided which home charger to buy.  I have a Tesla and it is currently working well with a 3 pin and connection to the ovo anytime app.  Bit concerned the new charger might interfere with this.  Also if I got another vehicle which is compatible could I add this as well (id3 for example) if I don’t have a compatible charger. thanks for any help   

I have an outstanding problem concerning FIT payments for several periods whilst my smart meter was faulty and subsequently replaced. Despite sending numerous emails and trying to make contact by phone, I am getting no answers or response. Is there a problem at OVO

Back in December 23 I discovered that my FIT account with SSE had been transferred to OVO.  In subsequent correspondence relating to outstaning FIT payments due to me from SSE, I mentioned that I had had a battery installed here last Spring.  I was told that OVO would need to register it on the Central FIT Register and was asked for documentation to allow OVO to do this.I was subsequently received a message on 4 January from OVO stating…"Thank you for your email and submission of your battery schematic."We have reviewed your schematic and have determined that the installation of the battery should not affect your tariff. The battery does not charge directly from the grid and therefore you will remain eligible for metered generation and deemed export payments."I can confirm that the account has been updated and we have also updated the Central FiT Register (CFR) with Ofgem with this information."However, Octopus, to whom I’m now in
