Smart gas meter installation Not previously installed

I had my Electric meter upgraded to Smart meter  in 2019  When it was SSE but the Gas meter was not. - I remember the engineer mention “Half flow”and that was why he couldnt connect the Gas, Can i still get the GAS meter upgraded I get invites to schedule new Meters but unsure if they can do it ?

Gas Smart Meter Error

I am an OVO customer for my electricity but with British Gas currently for my gas. Forgive my cheek for posting on the OVO forum but I can’t find another route to find answers.  I had an electric Smart meter installed by OVO in October 2022 and since then it has been working perfectly.   L+G E470 with Toshiba SKU1 communication hub. On 17th October 2023 I had a Smart gas meter installed by British Gas (L+G G470 SMETS2). When the engineer installed the meter he was in a rush and said he had to leave before the meter was fully commissioned but said another engineer would come out to complete the installation. This never happened and I was left with a piece of yellow tape on the meter saying “No commission”. I have contacted BG via Chat and phone about every 2 months but just keep getting the same answer - an engineer doesn’t need to be sent and to just wait and it would be  resolved.  Nothing is yet resolved after over a year. I have now lost patience and am trying to arm myself with as

Smart Meter timing/fuse box tripping, and priority register.

Hi, I had my RTS meter replaced with a smart meter in December. I wasn’t aware it would cause my fuse box to trip for as long as I’ve been told (6 weeks as per the time given for information to be updated), I was under the impression this would last only about 48 hours. A week or two after it was fitted I asked OVO support about the fuse box tripping, and was told I’d have to wait the 6 weeks. It flips 10-20+ times a day, but the issue is that my heating system takes so long to heat up that my house is sitting at about 13-14C, and I’m a disabled person. This is causing me a lot of pain on top of the expected annoyance at the inconvenience. I’ve also had my computer shut down while writing, losing anything I’ve been working on that hasn’t been saved- which is more of an inconvenience but I’m afraid it’ll mess up my computer eventually as the flips are quite unpredictable. It also makes cooking, and showering, difficult at times. Has anyone had experiences with asking for help with the w

no hot water snd storage heating after smart meter installation

Hello Ovo forum.I installed a smart meter on the 10th of December as my old meters were being phased out. Upon arriving back to my flat I do not have heating or hot water. My flat uses storage heaters and I get hot water from an immersion heater. I have a separate meter for the heating as it runs off-peak.When I log in to my account it shows two readings for electricity (one for my old meter and one for my new) but nothing for heating. I used to have a reading for both heating and electricity prior to the smart meter set up.Is there anything I can do about this? It's winter and having no hot water and heating is inconvenient. Kind regards.

Geo Trio II IHD will not reconnect

We’ve had a working Geo Trio II UHD for a couple of years or so and it occassionally drops its connection to the smart meters but after an hour or so it reconnects and all is well. However, on Christmas Eve I needed to replace a damaged electrical socket  and had to turn the the ring main off to facilitate this. Since then the IHD WILL NOT connect, It’s now been two weeks and still will not connect. I have restarted numerous times, including power cycling by removing the batteries and power for twenty minutes, I have tried resetting the IHD using the internal reset options but to no avail. At one point I came across a display that said it wasn’t receiving data from the smart meters but I’ve been unable to find that again.Does anyone have any ideas?

IHD no gas reading - Geo Trio II

Hello,Hope someone can help as on the verge of changing back to original supplier as OVO seem unable to fix issue with IHD not showing gas readings. The electric is working fine with no issue and it is just gas with error code 29-6.I have SMET2 smart meterCan anyone help before I need to look at switch back to Octopus.Thank you

Switch between Economy 7, 9 & 10 following smart meter install?

My father is arranging for his old meter to be swapped out for a smart meter and been offered Economy 7, 9 and 10. He worried about picking the most appropriate plan.Can plans be swapped if required. I’ve seen a post highlighting concerns for one user in Scotland about the quality of the local WAN that could make this difficult. My father lives in the South of England Area 20 and there are masts very close by.In theory does OVO offer this service of swapping between Economy plans. Many ThanksMike

Issues getting a replacement THTC Meter in Scottish Highlands

Hi, we are in the Scottish Highlands and have been told we cannot currently have the THTC replaced by a smart meter due to signal issues, OVO currently have no alternative so we have been left with a fuzzy answer that they may have a solution in two months time. Any body else have any additional information, my communication with OVO has been through the online chat box, although with an actual person

is there a problem at ovo with receiving meter readings from smart meters?

Since Saturday there don’t appear to be any readings on the app. It says missing data. Meter seems to be recording accurately and the meter is sending readings but Ovo isn’t receiving or recording them? Is there a major issue at Ovo?

Cheap Rate Tariff on Simpler Energy - Superdeal 01

My mother is currrently on Simpler Energy - Superdeal 01. We need to know if there are any cheap rate periods during the day as she wants to heat her immersion heater when she wakes up and sometimes in the afternoon.  Thanks

Turned Gas off by boiler but shoeing usuafe on graph

We went away switched off gas at the boiler and the daily usage graph in my app are showing normal and above normal usage - why is this and how can I rely on it when the house was empty and no gas was used ?!? This was 28th to 1Jan  Thanks

App not Updating Daily Usage

I notice the App has stopped updating my daily usage.  Does this mean that my smart meter has stopped sending data to OVO ?  IHD still works OK

Smart Economy 10 - Just had new meter installed is it too early to worry if the tariffs are the right way round?

We had a smart meter installed on Tuesday to replace the old THTC setup with Smart Economy 10. Everything has gone well so far - pleasant engineer, neat installation, heaters and hot water coming on at the right times, correct tariffs showing on the IHD at the correct times. I've been waiting for the new meter to show on my account and today it popped up, though the old heating meter still shows as well, and both readings from the smart meter are currently being allocated to "anytime". I'm not too worried about that as I assume it will eventually sort itself out.  What I'm wondering about is, on the meter itself TOU rate 1 is the peak rate and TOU rate 2 is the offpeak rate. But when I go to https://smartpaymapi.ovoenergy.com/orex/api/supply-points/account/<account number> I see that Tier 1 is labelled offpeak: "region":"_P","profileClass":"01","meterType":"S2ADE","mapId":"UPLD","lineLossFactorClassId":"100","registers":[{"tier":1,"clockingTimeId":532,"timeOfUseLabel":"offpeak","

engineer problem or meter problem

I just got a new smart meter installed on the 30th December this is a economy 10 smart meter to replace RTS meter  The tariff we had before the new smart meter was essentially economy 10 but called simpler energy but came on various points through the 24 hour period to a total of 10 off peak hours. now the meter has been changed, the meter and ihd3 knows it’s supposed to be an economy 10 meter and tariff. You can see on both when it changes to off peak times and these are in chunks through the 24 hr period as it should be for Scotland. But  now the storage heaters (quantum) only switch on at midnight and charge till 7am on the peak rate. I’ve checked the heaters and it now tells me (420) mins available when it used to be (510) and it still should be. Does this seem like a engineer issue or a ovo meter/tariff configuration issue? We have a engineer booked but he did not arrive. I’m assuming this is festive period problem and he will appear in the new year. :)

Electrcicy tripped

HiI hope it’s okay to post here. I have tried to create an account with EON Next to add a post but a message pops up to say I need to speak to a human.  On 12th December I had a smart meter fitted by EON Next (My provider was Sainsbury’s Energy). On 31st December I switched to Tomato Energy.A couple of hours ago my electric tripped and will not turn back on. I have checked the fuse box and noticed the RCD has tripped. I flicked the switch on but then it tripped again and now it keeps flicking straight back off.I have turned everything off, which includes boiler and unplugged all appliances but it still will not turn back on that are on this circuit. The only connection I can make is that it might be to do with the smart meter. When it tripped, I was pressing the smart meter in-home display. I was looking at what I had used and noticed electricity is no longer displayed now that I had switched providers. The smart meter was only fitted two weeks ago and my switch happened yesterday. I h

Storage heaters charging at peak rates with new smart meter?

My mother in law lives in a sheltered flat with storage heaters (probably 20 years old).  The storage heaters only have input and output controls; they don't seem to have any timer or programming facility.  They were previously connected to a separate off peak meter. In October the meters were changed to smart meters on the domestic economy tariff, in preparation for the analogue signal being switched off.  Since then the peak usage has gone up by 300% and I suspect the heaters are drawing in power during both the off peak and peak periods. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this and knows what the solution is?  It was never a problem previously as the heaters only seemed to be connected to the dedicated off peak meter. Many thanks for any help.

Economy 10- How easy is it to change after smart meter install?

I am finally getting some joy with OVO and have an appointment to replace my THTC complex meter with a smart meter.  Old meter is PAYG and new will also be PAYG as I have been told I cannot go to direct debit account until new meter is in.  I live in Perthshire and have old style night storage heaters (rented property so can't change them) and immersion for hot water.  When arranging my appointment I was told I had to choose a tariff pre install and, being utterly bamboozled and frustrated at the time, I chose economy 9.   I now believe economy 10 may suit me better but have been told this would need me to change the appointment date, I don't understand why that would be the case. I was also told that I could change tariff at any time after the install which made sense to me but puts further questions in my head as to why a different appointment date would be needed to install economy 10 rather than 9 as currently arranged? Can anyone help out with this? Is there any difference in the

OVO Smart Meter fitted- Off-peak circuit always OFF?

Hello,I'm an ex-SSE customer that was migrated to OVO in June 2023.I had a new smart meter fitted on the 16th of December 2022 by SSE and since then I had an issues with the Economy 7 tariff.Initially, all appliances connected to the off-peak rate circuit (port 5) were always ON instead of turning on and off during rate changes.After contacting SSE support and later on OVO support multiple times, on the 17th of July 2023, OVO sent an engineer that supposedly fixed our issue but instead it changed to the opposite way:All appliances connected to the off-peak rate circuit (port 5) are now always OFF during both peak and off-peak hours.Our heating system consists of storage heaters which are all connected to this off-peak circuit so we are now effectively without heating.We contacted the OVO support multiple times about this issue with no luck.They sent multiple emergency and non-emergency engineers and none of them was able to fix our issue beside worsening it on the 17th of July.By going

Smart meter not sending readings to Octopus

My smart meter appears to have stopped sending data/readings to Octopus as of 10 days ago.  It was installed 5 years ago and always worked fine.  The WAN light still flashes every 5 seconds so I cannot understand why it isn’t communicating. Octopus have suggested an engineer attend to conduct a “power cycle” but this won’t be for another month. Can anyone explain why this would not be communicating data and if there is anything I can do about it?  And if there is anyway to ensure meter readings data is captured to prevent me being charged a flat rate instead of the Octopus smart rate (I’m on Intelligent Go).  Thank you

Why has my usage doubled since my smart meter was installed?

I live in a 3 bed semi and have for the last 15 years. Recently switched to ovo and then had the smart meters installed .My usage has crept up over the years like everyone's. Now on OVO with smart meters and nothing has changed in my home  my monthly usage/direct debit has gone to £246 a month that's a second mortgage any ideas why my bills have double since i switched to ovo?

I’m quite a fan of the Aclara SGM1300 and SGM1400 Series myself, as I think they’re really nice and easy to live with. But there’s a bunch of others too… One of the most common meter brands used in the UK, is Landis+Gyr (L+G). They’ve also been a very common brand in the UK for many years, and it used to be highly likely that at least one electric and/or gas meter in every street was an L+G model, and this continues with smart meters. But there is also a bit of an unfortunate - and somewhat unlucky - snag here. How does one tell a SMETS1 Landis+Gyr smart meter apart from a SMETS2 Landis+Gyr smart meter, when they apparently all just so happen to be the Landis+Gyr E470 and G370? On top of that… Can you even switch supplier and if so, would you even know if your smart meters woul

Heating won’t go off after smart meter install

we have gas central heating controlled by standard thermostats with heating timers. since our smart meters were installed on friday our heating will not go off, its ignoring the timers and thermostats, its costing a fortune. any help gratefully received.
