Monitor not connecting

Hi All,I noticed my monitor isn't connecting to the meter, I have tried moving it closer but it still shows an  X on the display. do I need to phone contact support? Thanks  Anthony

Smart meter installation .... still no Economy 7 overnight heating of hot water and storage heaters!

Long story …. short(ish) version >>> My Economy 7 electricity meter completely failed on 16th October and since then I have had no midnight switch to heat my hot water cylinder and storage heaters. Not great when you are 65 years old and been extremely unwell with flu during this period. Ovo Energy initially offered a smart meter replacement on 17th November. Totally unacceptable given that I have no hot water or heating. After repeated pressure, they finally agreed to treat this as an emergency. Monday 30th October …. smart meter installed by MDS …. Aclara smart meter serial number 21M0364172 …. Aclara smart meter model SGM1416-B (SMETS2) for dual rate day peak and night off-peak (Economy 7) Tuesday 31st October …. smart meter supposedly commissioned and configured correctly by MDS …. but quite evidently not! Wednesday 1st November …. SMS engineer visited and tested the smart meter since I still had no hot water and heating …. engineer confirmed that the smart meter is workin

The smart meter shows electricity consumption that was not there. Why?

To install the smart meter, I had normal power consumption. After installing this, the counter suddenly increased. I wasn't able to determine how much electricity consumption had increased. But from April 15 to September 25, 2023, I was not in the apartment. I turned off everything. even the electricity consumption indicator which supposedly consumes 1kWh of electricity per year. I also turned off all the sockets. I also unplugged the refrigerator and washing machine. Unfortunately, after receiving the bills, I saw in black and white that I used over 111 kWh per month when I was not at home. Nobody has a key to my apartment. How is it possible?

OVO fined for smart meter rollout performance

A shame to see OVO fined for their performance in the smart meter rollout. The highest fine, even worst than the old SSE.https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications/energy-suppliers-pay-total-ps108-million-not-meeting-smart-meter-installation-targets-2022I really hope OVO focus on some of the basics like this over the next year.In their recent plan zero report OVO said  48.2% of their meters were smart at the end of 2022. Economy 7 times and coming off

My mum has storage heaters that come on at night on economy 7. She wants to change them to standard heaters to be used during the day. The storage heaters spurs are fed from their own DB which is supplied from a Aclara SGM1415-B meter from the second contractor , no.5, which is powered up at night for economy 7. She was given wrong advice from OVO in that if she changed to a standard tariff this would enable the supply to be on all the time. She has now been told this was wrong and she needs to get all the supply to the spurs feed from the other DB, non E7. Can’t the smart meter just be configured to bring the supply on all day from the old E7 supply now as it is on a standard tariff. Surely they are called smart meters for a reason. Or do I need to go to Distribution Network Supplier for advice? Any advice given will be much appreciated.

Spike in energy usage during vacation

Hi Forum,We were on a vacation from Mar 29th - Apr 9th with only the fridge and boiler turned on. However our energy usage shown for days from 29th - Apr 1 is pretty high. For the remaining days i.e from Apr 2 - Apr 9 the per day usage reported is the same each day and as expected since we were out on vacation. But why would the 29th - Apr 1 usage is not the same and very high compared to the rest of days we were out on vacation.

Smets 2 fitted in a cellar not communicating

I am new to OVO having been migrated from my previous supplier. I have found the OVO forum useful already, but does not solve my problem. My meter did have a T2 antenna fitted and was lighting up all the indicators except HAN. (We have no gas)Which I have discovered on this forum means that the meter was not commissioned. Subsequently a technician  changed it back to one without an external antenna. Which of course does not work and SW lights up and the WAN lights every one second. Any ideas.

Lights flickering throughout flat since Smart Meter installation

Hi there, I had a smart meter installed about a month ago. In the last couple of weeks the lights in the apartment have started flickering, particularly when power-hungry devices (e.g. kettle, microwave) are used. Over the last week or so this has got worse, and now occurs even when no appliances are in use. An electrician came today and couldn’t find any potential causes, but isn’t allowed to look inside the smart meter because it’s property of OVO. I contacted OVO this afternoon and they’re not able to send anyone out to resolve this worsening issue for the next 3.5 weeks.  Is this issue common with smart meters? Are there any potential solutions to this in the short term?Many thanks!

We have an asbestos fuse- How do I get OVO to inform the DNO?

We have an asbestos fuse, which needs to be replaced before a smart meter can be installed.  First the engineer (who was meant to install the smart meter) said he’d request it from the UK Power Networks, who need a D0135 from the energy provider in order to arrange for the works. Nothing happened for a good few, months,  so I contacted customer services. Three customer service agents assured me that the D0135 has been sent, but the UK Power Networks haven’t received anything. Not sure where to go from here. Can anybody help?

Usage just after new meter installed not recorded, will OVO bill me for this? The DCC will charge OVO for it.

Two not particularly related questions:I recently had my old smart meter exchanged for a new SMETS2 model. The main fuse was removed before this happened, of course. However, I had had an eye-wateringly expensive electric shower just before the engineer arrived and got to work. Checking my half-hourly usage data afterwards, I saw that the data for the half hour immediately preceding the power cut as well as up to the moment he reconnected it were missing. I take it that the usage data for that half hour just didn’t make it to DCC, so I won’t be billed for it. But OVO are sure to be billed for it by the DNO - so do OVO just absorb the cost? Or can I expect an adjustment at some stage?    My meter is set up for E7, although currently the peak and offpeak rates are the same. I have been comparing daily meter readings with what I would expect them to be based on the half-hourly usage data, nicely recorded to the nearest whole Wh. Four weeks on, these are the results: I was pleasantly surpr

My smart meter display is blank - Is the meter broken?

I reported my Smart Meter was not working in July last year. Nothing has been done about it, though every month I get an email message about the need to supply readings, which is kind of annoying. The screen on the meter is dead so not even manual readings are possible. When chasing some action on this I received a reply in November saying there was a queue for meters to be fixed, but I would be notified as soon as an engineer was available. As it is now April, it must be some long queue.

Can I connect a CAD to my smart meters if OVO open the Home Area Network (HAN)?

Hi, Will OVO "open the HAN" to allow use of a CAD (consumer access device) such that I can access the data from the Liberty electricity/gas meters? Specifically this CAD. Alternatively is there any other means to retrieve "live" meter data in a less useless way than screen-scraping the Ovo website or a webcam on the IHD? It's an R&D project on combi boiler efficiency. "Real time" heat use is easy using heat/electricity sub-meters with open M-Bs protocols. "Real time" gas use is tricksy. Thanks, M

Blue flame showing on IHD even though no gas/hot water being used

Noticed this morning that the blue flame was showing about 0.08p per kWh. We haven’t used any hot water for at least 45 mins yet still shows usage, dropping down to 0.02p now. At a loss what’s happening. It has been off and then back on again after using some hot water. Not radiators as they’re definitely off

Three Phase AMR for domestic property unable to send half hourly data

Hi. I have solar PV, GSHP, two Powerwall batteries and an electric car. Also have 3 phase power as building used to be a small guest house. What I need is a smart meter to take advantage of time based tariffs. Currently with Octopus but they have failed. The first smart meter could get no signal due to location. After 12 months I then got an AMR meter with an external aerial. Perfect signal. Octopus now say it can’t provide half hourly readings and in fact I will have to send monthly ones manually. Is this an octopus issue, AMR issue or something else? Help!

Why is my new electricity smart meter not showing on my online account?

After my smart meters installation, My OVO payment site tells me that there is no meter found for electricity. But it is logging the usage . So I need advice if you need meter reading or not.

How to view your smart meter usage data using the Chameleon Integration with Samsung SmartThings appF.A.Q.

PAYG smart meter and Solar Panels

This is a little complex… here is my setup Smart meter: Secure Liberty 110 in PAYG mode with Econony7 Storage heaters on 5th Terminal Generation meter: Emlile EC-ECA2-BI 1 According to Smart Export Guarantee 2 your SEG supplier goes not have to be your GAS and/or Electric supplier. Having duly registered the generation meter to get is Mpan number I now have the issue of supplying every 6 months an export meter reading. SEG Supplier is Scottish Power and I requirement is a 6 monthly manual meter reading. Now it gets interesting... The Secure Liberty 110 (SL110) is solar export compatible. Export reading are shown on the meter if you hit 9 from the display. However when in PAYG E7 mode 9 shows the day and night rates.Can anyone worked out if the SL110 in PAYG mode with E7 can store or record Export Data to the Grid? If the SL110 can where is that data stored on the meter and how to access it. If the SL110 cannot is there a smart meter that will fit the bill preferably smete2 Any help

How can I get my Economy 7 times changed so my underfloor heating comes on earlier?

I have underfloor heating in my flat which had night rate settings on the old meter. Which means the heating comes on between 12 midnight to 7.30 am. I have a smart meter now but being 63 and feeling the cold i need the underfloor heating coming on during the day. I need OVO to change my settings or explain to me the situation, do i need a new tariff etcBUT after 2 long conversations with OVO staff who couldn't help at the time but promised to get back to me(they haven't) with information.Anybody else had the same problems as i need to sort this out before winter

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have bought one of these meters on ebay but cannot find out how to connect it. No wifi menu in the settings.

No Smart Meter readings shown on the Online Account since the 1st October?

The website today shows the last smart meter readings as 30 September. Last night’s readings should be logged as 1 October. Have the new charges caused a problem? I have SMETS2 electricity and gas meters. It is now 10am on 1 October. My in home display is working.Readings seem to have ceased at 00:30 on 30 September according to the app.

Usage costs shown on IHD differ from those shown in OVO app or online account?

Costs as shown on my IHD are 15-50% higher those shown in the App. This is so for both gas and electricity and they don’t change in the 8 days for which the IHD provides usage information (i.e. there’s no ‘correction within a few days’ as suggested by the not very helpful Ovo rep).Thanks

Have solar, economy 7 and battery- Day time tariff charging at night?

Hi so I have has solar panels fitted last October 2022. I have 2 tariffs a day time tariff and an economy tariff that kicks in from midnight until 7am. This is when my battery recharged ready to work from 7pm until the solar panels take over. However I take a reading every night before I go to bed and one again as soon as I wake up. My economy rate goes up in the night by about 4/5kw but my problem is every night my day time rate moves up 10kw. Nobody knows the answer as to why and the electricity company do not seem interested. Can anybody help me I now have about 6 months of data and can’t get a resolution. Can anybody please help me

My non-smart 3 phase meter shows that my usage has been very high since my solar installation - how can this be fixed?

Hi eveyone.hope someone can help.  I had solar installed and live for the month of july and i belive its done something strange to our eletrical usage.Lasts month usage was about 400kWh and without solar i would of expected Julys to be much less, also due to we were away for 10 days of it. I took a manual reading 1st july (As this is when our solar went live) and 1st Aug, so i could see the effet our solar had on our bills. As we have 3 pahse at home we donthave a smart meter. Julys usage was 1769kWh as you can see from the image below!!! What i belive has happened is the solar that we have produced/exported has been added to our meter (Bill) in some way as i cant belive we have used 1700kWh and what solar we produced/exported. Am thinking that the old meter is not set up for recognising import/export and in treating it all as import.   We have a Elster A1140 meter. Can anyone offer any advise here? Thanks
