I have Dimplex Quantum storage heaters which were installed by my local authority after they ripped out gas central heating. Quantum meant to be economical and environmentally beneficial. However, to run just one of them is £25 per week I have 4 in total, but only run one of them. I am over £200 per month. I have two electric panel heaters which are more controllable and cheaper to run. But still over £200 per month for all my electric. I am about to have two old (RTS) THTC meters economy 10 each has its own consumer board being replaced with a smart meter. I have WiFi timer controllers on all my Storage heaters/hot water units all wired to same consumer board. Unfortunately I have 5 other basic panel radiator wired to the peak priced consumer board. Is it possible to ask fitter on installation of new smart meter, to wire via Henley block (?) both consumer boards as one split board ? This would allow the benefit of the off peak traiff to all house, but would of course require careful management of the high usage loads Storage heaters/hot water via timed controllers.  It is normal practice on these meter switches to wire both consumer units to one smart meter for whole house benefit the off peak traiff or will installation team wire smart meter to two separate outputs on smart, one to each board, with Storeage heater board only being live during off peak as now. Spoke wi

This is our present THTC RTS setup. The meters are in an access corridor, the consumer units within the flat. I booked a smart meter appointment and OVO’s sub turned up in December and said a smart meter instal was impossible, grumbled about lack of communication about the instal he was going to and was meant to make a report to OVO. It appears that was sketchy as when I asked OVO about it, it didnt seem to give much detail. The installer did say 10-20% of installations were similar.  As nothing seemed to be happening I raised a complaint. I was then told OVO wanted me to at my expense instal blocks at the high rate consumer unit for them to connect to. When I asked for more detail they came b

 The meters and the fuse in my house are currently screwed directly onto the  wooden panels that line the  inside a cuboard built into the wall .  Its an old 1900’s stone built property. this has been the fitting  arangement since installation of the electricity supply and originl black meter  in 1950.  Since then SSE,  as the retai supplyier at that time, has installed an  off peak  meter  in the 70’s for  storage heaters,  and a check meter in 2019, both screwed by them  directly onto the  wall panels, same as the fuse and original meter,  ie without a  back board, and seemingly not an issue as far as they were concerned.I am now trying to arrange for OVO to fit a SMART meter. They can come next week However they say a  back board  is essential , but theyalso  say they will not fit  one  and to peak to the DNO IE SSE.I have done so , and they say they will send someone to fit a piece of  backboard behind their  incoming fuse, but that it.So now seem to be in a

Hello I have economy 7 night storage heating…..it is controlled by the teleswitch which activates the Contactor to turn on the storage heater circuit overnight.The teleswitch is to be discontinued in June and a smart meter installed at some stage to control the economy 7 heating. Will the contactor still be required to switch the heating circuit on and off or will it be redundant and the new smart meter system do that job instead? The night storage heating only is on the separate circuit controlled by the contactor thanks for any advice 

I have just signed up to Extended Fixed but need to be able to use this with Charge Anytime, is that possible? 

Hello,I’ve just bought a Volvo PHEV, but where I park is outside my home WiFi zone. The car has the facility to connect to the internet via an in-car SIM. My question is, how much data do I need if I’m connecting to Charge Anytime every night? I’m charging with a Mode 2 cable and 3-pin plug.Thanks.

I have a Kia Niro EV and a Pod Point charger.  After some initial incomplete transactions, I now seem to have the system working OK, but the savings are lower than expected.To avoid peak rates, I started the last two chargings at around 1:00 to 1:30 am each time, with the car itself set to charge to a maximum of 80% - both times from existing levels of around 40%.   As expected, the details shown by my PodPoint App show charge amounts of 30kWh each time over around 4 hrs each time - so finishing well before 7 a.m.For 30 kWh the Charge Anytime rate of 7.07p/kWh compared with my OVO rate of 27. 07p/kWh gives a saving rate of 20p/kWh, so I expected to see saving of around £6.00 for each charge.   However, in my Charge Anytime App, savings are shown as around £4.00 each time.When I sent copies of my data to Charge Anytime at OVO, I received a re

I need to take a manual reading for gas but I can’t work out how to find it on my smart meter. The electricity figure shows up, but not the gas one.  

Can anyone please explain why suddenly a few days again the solis app started showing a massive surge of power from the grid, see below 

We had a smart meter installed on Tuesday to replace the old THTC setup with Smart Economy 10. Everything has gone well so far - pleasant engineer, neat installation, heaters and hot water coming on at the right times, correct tariffs showing on the IHD at the correct times. I've been waiting for the new meter to show on my account and today it popped up, though the old heating meter still shows as well, and both readings from the smart meter are currently being allocated to "anytime". I'm not too worried about that as I assume it will eventually sort itself out.  What I'm wondering about is, on the meter itself TOU rate 1 is the peak rate and TOU rate 2 is the offpeak rate. But when I go to https://smartpaymapi.ovoenergy.com/orex/api/supply-points/account/<account number> I see that Tier 1 is labelled offpe

Trying to register for Solar check because of Battery Boost.

I’ve just received a quote from OVO to install an Indra charger.  It reads…“We are happy with all the information and your quote of £1354.99 is ready to be sent through, along with the corresponding payment link.We are just awaiting approval from your local DNO before we are able to do this. Once we have received this approval, your quote and payment link will be sent to you.”As a result I’ve since received several emails from SSEN asking for further details so they perform a “load check”I’m almost certainly not going to go with the OVO quote as my local, certified electrician will supply and fit

Hello, we’ve recently (late Feb) had a dual tariff polyphase smart meter installed in response the RTS shutdown.  We have two phases as we have underfloor heating, so it has been a long protracted affair in getting our old legacy meters replaced with an Economy 7 polyphase compatible smart meter. This was done back in February, credit where credit’s due, the three phase trained OVO engineer was brilliant. The meter signals the off peak period to our underfloor heating controller, this has worked correctly since the switch. Just to be on the safe side, we took daily readings from our old meters just before the switch and daily afterwards so have a good idea on our daily consumption and to check for constancy old/new. We have the Kaifa MA329B We’ve been away for a few days and returned home last night and realised our new smart meter has stopped recording usage on the T2 tariff register. I’m a non-OVO user considering using the Charge Anytime tariff.If I carry out the compatibility checks for my EV and charger for Charge Anytime it says I am OK - provided I lie about my solar panels and say I don’t have any.If I click the radio button for ‘yes, I have solar panels’ (the truth) and re-submit, it tells me I’m NOT compatible for Charge Anytime.What is the reason for this? I haven’t found anywhere that explains this restriction.Thanks and regards 

I am part way through installing an off-grid solar PV and wind turbine feed for a summerhouse and wondered if anyone has any experience or tips. One strange piece of info is that a first small turbine or ASHP is permitted development (conservation areas excluded) but if you already have a Heat Pump then you would need planning permission for a wind turbine.I have a small control system with battery storage which the panels and turbine will feed into and an associated power dump protection once the battery is full. It is a relatively small system but something that will power lighting, cooling and a small heater in winter. Once all in place I will post some photos for info.

Has anyone been able to make sense of their charge anytime credits on their bill? For the 2nd Quarter running I’m trying to reconcile the credits with the electricity used according to the Indra app and, yet again, there’s a big difference between the two - always in OVO’s favour!Using the data from the app I’ve been under credited by £65 over the quarter, in fact as far as I can see I’ve been under credited ever since starting on Charge Anytime 6 months ago. It’s not helped by OVO simply stating “Charge Anytime Credits” and no further detail eg how many kW the credit has been applied to. Yes, you can work it out but I don’t want to spend a couple of hours checking my electricity bill every quarter and then spending even more time trying to sort it out.

My landlord is having solar panels installed on the property tomorrow, will I need to do anything with my smart meter? Like inform electric company etc  thanks 

Hello, iv had OVO charge anytime with mini electric for a couple of years and it worked seamlessly.I’ve just swapped to a Renault scenic e-tech and I’m not able to connect the charge anytime app to my Renault account. note - my Renault account / app works fine, I can see the range / lights / location / preconditioning etc. when I try to sync I see the following message, see screenshot.   

Recently linked ovo account and home charger to charge anytime, then gave permission to control charging of my audi e tronIt didn’t work - didn’t recognise the car as being connected and then the day after, the app wouldn’t communicate with the audi at all. Complete failure so decided to delete charge anytime account and put up with paying standard charge - better than not being able to charge at all.However, despite deleting account, my audi will no longer connect to my home charger so I am completely stuck.The charger is fine - I can charge other cars.The audi is fine, I can charge it in other places.However, I cannot charge it at home on my charger which is a disaster. I wish I had never tried to implement this scheme at all as I am now forced onto public chargers at huge expense and inconvenience.Anybody else had these issues?

Smart meter installed/replaced today, will update if any issues. Engineer was a lovely chap, gone for economy 10 as split over 3 sections in 24 hours. Just minding on we have a 210 litre unvented cylinder which was wired to heat in the offpeak previously, this should remain the same ie heat during those new off peak timeslots? Also the old economy 7 boost box was left in situ and advised to continue using this for a boost if required (but hopeful the boosts will be less necessary if heating up the water during 3 slots during the day). There is no boost function on the new meter. See pic of meter and said boost box/new meter set up.

New smart meter fitted 3 days ago. My previous radio Teleswitch controlled Economy 7 meters charged up my storage heaters - 10.30-11.30 pm & 4.40-5.30am - so that's 2 hours charging each night off peak.My new smart meter Economy 7 tariff times are midnight - 7am. Am I still paying for x2 1 hour charging periods each night within that period ? I noticed that my smart meter red light was blinking quickly at approx 2.30am.I had assumed that my new charging times would be midnight-1am & 6-7am.I don't want to pay for more than x2 1 hour charging periods each night with higher bills.Your advice please.  

Can a smart meter be installed in a basement/cellar? My electric meter is in the basement and gas meter on the ground floor about 4 meters apart.

I’ve read all the post on here that relate to this topic but have yet to see a definitive answer as to when there will be a solution for those of us transferred from SSE. The OVE web page https://www.ovoenergy.com/can-i-get-a-smart-meter still says they are not available. Given that the switch of is next year it doesn’t leave a lot of time t0 implement a solution.
