Howdy @sb123 ,
I don’t think we’ve seen this one before! So to make sure I get it right, I’ve had a chat with the Charge Anytime team. If you ever need to speak to them, you can reach them in seconds on 0330 175 9678. My answer here is based on their response (thank you!).
It sounds like this might be your first charge session with Charge Anytime? If the system hasn’t seen your charging before, it needs time to learn so the first charge may not be perfect, but it’ll improve as the system learns from your charging habits.
The team believes it may have found a slot already and is waiting for the start time to arrive, at which point it should begin to fire the start charging command. This could be any point up to 8pm this evening in your case. Keep an eye on it and it could start the session anytime between now and then, but it’s possible it might struggle a bit for this first charge session because you might have set quite the challenge.
Are you able to extend the Ready By time a bit?
Either way, the team agrees that the messaging could be clearer as to when the next charge will commence - they’ll look into making it more transparent.
Thanks for the reply @Blastoise186 .
Yes it’s the first charge session so it could well be that it’s “having a think”. I’ve extended the ready by time to midnight and I’m waiting to see if that triggers it to begin. Will keep an eye on it.
I tend to like my car charged by 0730 am each morning with 100% (it’s not mine it’s leased). All my charging schedules are set for 100% by 0730hrs 7 days a week using in my case the Ohme app (no charge schedules set in the car). When I get home after 14:00hrs each day I just plug it in. Sometimes it starts charging straight away if there is capacity in the grid I suppose. Otherwise it stops and starts throughout the evening and night and gets the job done. As per previous posts I would strongly recommended you use the app for your smart charging point to set your schedules as it will communicate with Charge Anytime if compatible or your vehicle schedule if that’s compatible and your smart charger isn’t. Hope that makes sense use one or the other (whichever is compatible) not both.
Hey @sb123,
There isn’t really anything else that I could add to that perfect response from @Blastoise186! The only thing I would mention is that the system is designed to charge when the grid is at it’s greenest points. If you schedule a ready-by time then it should calculate when it needs to start and stop charging to give you the cleanest energy.
Let us know how things progress after you’ve been able to make a few charges! I’ve added an EV badge to your profile so that we know you’re part of our EV community so welcome!
One other quick note. The schedules for Hypervolt Chargers are currently managed via the Charge Anytime app, so please use that one for those!
If you’ve got Ohme/Indra, use the app for those instead.
Thank you @New EV driver . I’ve been told both the Hypervolt & my Tesla Y are Charge Anytime compatible.
In terms of apps/configuration I have the following:
- The Hypervolt charger app, the Charge Anytime app and the Tesla app on my phone.
I rang the OVO Charge Anytime team about a week ago and they advised me to open the CA app and enter my Hypervolt credentials and to schedule all charging via the CA app to get the credits for charging. So I did this.
The Hypervolt app displays a message that it’s in “OVO Integration mode” and displays a message that “While OVO mode is enabled, the charger can only be controlled through the OVO Charge Anytime app” .
This to me suggests CA app now manages all aspects of charging/scheduling and seems to be in line with the advice I was given by the OVO team.
The Tesla app seems like the only place where I can state the desired % charge i.e. 80%
I don’t believe I’m able to change any settings in the Hypervolt app even if I wanted to, due to it telling me it’s all handled by the CA app.
I’ve set my “Ready by time” to midnight tonight in the CA app and it’s still showing “Planning next charge” so I suspect it’ll fail to trigger tonight but I’ll leave it to run its course.
You’ve set it up correctly - setting a charge limit via the Tesla app is fine (and ideally the best place). Once your Tesla hits that limit, it’ll refuse to accept more charge, which will end the session immediately regardless of remaining time.
You can still use all the other functions of all the apps, such as triggering software updates and keeping an eye on their status. :)
Thanks for the sense-checking @Blastoise186 - I was beginning to wonder if it was user-error on my part.
No worries! We’re here if you need us for anything else.
Good luck it’s a really great product. My two EVs have both not been on the compatibility list , MG4 now Smart #1. I therefore used the Ohme App to schedule charges. I’ve never used CA app. You will be fine with CA its spot on.
UPDATE:
I’m an idiot: it was user-error on my part...my fat fingers must’ve touched the tiny pause icon in the Hyeprvolt app….I mean, it’s tiny so how I managed to press it when I can barely see it is some achievement in itself!
Anyway: I’ve pressed it again to unpause and the car is now charging and I’ll check how it’s getting on later tonight. Thanks again for all the help, massively appreciate it.
Morning @sb123,
Mistakes are all part of the learning journey and you’ll continue to learn new things about your EV and setup
Looking forward to an update on your first (of many) successful charges.
