can we request a Smart Meter fitting as part of the switch process

Hi all,Just had an EV charger installed at my MiL’s for me & my wife’s cars and would like to switch my MiLs plan to OVO from Scottish Power as I don’t believe they offer cheap rate EV charging.She hasn’t got a smart meter yet, my question is- can we request a Smart Meter fitting as part of the switch process, or do we switch then get a Smart Meter, or get one fitted then switch?I know what we need to do, just not sure in what order!thanks in advance

Can there be a V2G flag/test to allow lower Direct Debit level?

To permit a lower DD than OVO systems currently allow for V2G active customers (to reflect what the house really uses) is to  utilise  a simple “V2G flag” to allow half (or any sensible fraction) of the computed DD to be set. This will go a long way to help set an affordable payment, especially helping the vulnerable who struggle to raise extra funds to pay this forced inflated amount.

What's the best plan for EV owners during these high prices? Is Anytime still available?

Hi all. Sorry, I'm only able to ask questions here atm. I made a phone call and the line at the other end (after a considerable wait but at least able to hear the wait music) was far too poor to be able to hear anything. I think she was trying to suggest chat, hard to tell with the line so very bad, but despite now trying 3 times it keeps telling me there's no one to talk to me, so phone in. Round in circles. Frustrating to say the least. Anyway...…Our current fix ends in sept, 7 days before the new price cap will be due. There are some fixes which for various reasons we are thinking about, but as you can guess they are eye watering! However, I have some queries about them so I'm hoping there are some OVO employed bods around here somewhere. The drive tariff is ridiculous quite frankly, but I'd think about it if we can find out if the Anytime add on is still available, and how much would the price be on that when smart charging. That's what we have now. Also, are there any time of use

Unable to deactivate Charge Anytime

After installing solar and a battery system I have changed supplier from Ovo to Octopus. However, my Ohme charger still thinks my tariff is Charge Anytime and will not allow me to change the tariff. Ohme say this is an issue that Ovo need to resolve by releasing my charger from their Kaluza platform. Two conversations with Ovo have resulted in two answers:First convo: “Since my energy supply account has been closed there is no reason why I should not be able to enter a new tariff.” Second convo: “We are awaiting an upgrade to the app. Until we get it you are stuck. Sorry, we can do no more.”Sadly, this situation with each blaming the other was predictable but that makes it no less frustrating! Is there any wisdom in this community that may shed light on the matter?

£66 government energy bills support scheme deducted from my OVO account balance not added?

Can anyone explain what’s going on here?Opening balance was £335, we used around £90 worth of electric/gas combined (£66 government payment was taken off this, hence the £22 charge), I paid £150 so by my reckoning the balance should have gone up by around £125.It hasn’t though - they seem to have then deducted the £66 again.Does anyone know why? Do I need to contact them or will it right itself?

EV owners: how do you choose an electric vehicle? Where do you look, what do you seek?

Is a VCHRD Seven EV home charge ok for a New Tesla Y?

Hello, I am about to become an EV owner for the first time with a Tesla Y and looking for affordable EV home charger options.  Looking at a VCHRGD Seven and wondered if this is ok? Tesla keep telling me go Tesla as better but is it actually?Also don't fully understand how Tesla / EV home charger apps integrate with each other so is that where I might get a more seamless service i.e. Tesla with Tesla or doesn't it make much difference in practice?

Forum colours in dark mode

Using Microsoft Edge 110 on Windows 11 with dark mode enabled for all pages.A recent change to forum styles means that a thread list block title appears white until the cursor hovers over it, when it changes to green. That’s fair enough and quite snappy, but once the cursor moves out of the topic card, the colour reverts to an almost invisible dark grey:  Colour transition white > green > dark greyWould someone please bring this to the designers’ attention? Thanks!

Should there be a distinction between 'complaint' and 'feedback' on the website...

Is there a dichotomy between these two different conduits?    Blastoise’s link seems to lead to a page for making a complaint. Perhaps OVO don’t expect ever to see positive feedback, but they certainly won’t see any unless they provide a way of submitting it. It’s also possible that a user has helpful suggestions or perhaps has noticed a typo or other inconsistency at the website, but there’s no obvious vehicle for feedback like this. There is a Contact us link on the home page, but it only leads to the help centre. Why?I’m always confused when I see two different things with the same name.

Is there a way for OVO customers to contribute to payments of bills of vulnerable people?

I was wondering if there is any mechanism by which I could make a small contribution to the energy bill of someone who is vulnerable or struggling to make ends meet. I don’t think anyone would describe us as wealthy, but we have enough to live on and some left over most months and we could during the winter months possible contribute a bit to someone less fortunate. Does anyone know if this is possible through Ovo? Thanks for your attention.

Should standing charges be reduced for those in need, or abolished completely.

Why can’t the most vulnerable members of society get reduced standing charges similar to council tax reductions. It seems unfair that an unemployed person with zero gas or electricity usage can still fall into debt due to these charges. ? Wouldn’t it be fairer if the charges were abolished & a slightly higher rate of usage charges applied?

Adding colour to a Forum replyTutorial

.Updated on 20/04/22 by Jess_OVO Astute Forum Members will have spotted that there are some new options at the top of the Reply window which allow us to add colour to our messages.I’ve been adding colour manually for the last two years in order to bring greater clarity to some of my more technical prose. However, the method I used for this was a bit clunky, and probably beyond the ability of many users.The new icons are shown here: To add a colour, first highlight the word(s) you wish to be in that colour by dragging the pointer across, click the foreground icon and choose a colour from the palette.If you’d like to select from a wider palette, click on More Colors which will open a separate window. The large box to the right marked Highlight depicts the colour under the pointer, and the rectangular box below it has the colour on which you last clicked.When you’re happy with your selection, click on the Add button, and the Selected Colour will be applied to the word(s) you’d highlighted

What kind of OVO online community member are you?Blog

Updated on 19/04/24 by Shads_OVO I have just found this OVO Community (which I didn’t know even existed 8hrs ago!) I have been an OVOcustomer for quite a while now, am on the V2G trial and have applied for the heat trial.  As a type of person I am keen on Green, money saving and as an IT Director also keen on new tech (I have 19 Alexa devices in my house now) so have been an early adopter for years. I now have a long range Leaf and have been trialling how close I can get without range anxiety. I am keen on the environment and the possible and am a user of public charge points (hence the excellent EV Everywhere tariff)  I just wondered if I was typical of the community or was on the “geek” end...
