hello,

Has anyone on this forum successfully bypassed the date of birth question when making a card payment via telephone?

I have been told that if you press star or hash it will move onto another security question. It does not and have repeatedly told them this.

Thank you.

Hey @Brina1,

Just to clarify, security questions are in place to help protect our customers and their accounts, so they can’t be skipped. I checked with the team that manages the automated IVR system, and they confirmed that these questions need to be answered. If you don’t get the answers right after a few tries, you’ll be connected to an agent who can assist you further.

I hope this information helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

This could be down to a server or connection error. However, it may also be that the question has been removed or moved by one of the forum moderators as the question appears and has been answered elsewhere. Suggest re-post your question and see if you get a response.

@DavidWSR To be honest I think this is a bot and I've reported it as such. The second tonight and one yesterday that has now been removed that you responded to. That's gone now. You can usually tell because they've only just joined and the query or conplaint is just feels ‘weird’ and sometimes strangely formatted. Normally all lower case. I suppose one day I'll get a genuine user booted off but no one has complained yet.

I tripped up on a bot yesterday and bplightlog tipped me off with that one. That's gone now. If in doubt hang back a bit

Hey @Brina1

We’d gathered your responses on our platform for a quick review. To keep everything tidy, I went ahead and merged the two threads into one.

The reason why I came to forum was to get a quick response and clarification. Just so you know I took my enquiry regarding this to the Executive Office - assuming this means CEO. Who stated that you can use * or hash tag and system would move to ask another security question and also told by member of staff that your account can be “set” to ask another question.  There are other security/personal questions the system can ask - my opinion.

IIRC the skip question option with * or # isn’t available for the card payment system because it’s a financial transaction where it’s absolutely critical to get it 100% correct - otherwise it causes real nightmares.

how is it a nightmare if you ask me another personal question?

Perhaps I should answer that question with another question.

Why do you want more/different options for the IVR security questions anyway? Looking at your comments, I can’t find anything that explains your reasons or a use case. For me to be able to suggest this to OVO and have it considered, there needs to be something to back it up otherwise the feature request would probably not get very far.

Worth noting that reprogramming it with new options is a lot of work, so it’s important to understand why you want this.

So it’s possible but reprogramming is the issue. Which is a response.

It still needs a use case to justify putting the effort in though - and arguably it needs to be one that’s big enough to benefit more than just yourself.

I understood your previous response. I now have an explanation. That could benefit others. Not just me.

So if I was to ask the question of what is it you’re trying to ask for, that’s what I’m interested in for a feature request idea.

For example:

I’d like to have Dark Theme support added to the OVO Forum so it doesn’t burn my eyes out with a collapsed sun every day

That kind of thing - what’s your example of why you want alternative security questions?
