tried tobregister new ovo card on gas meter, came up with CALL HELP….I did this at 11.35am only to be told I had to wait till my credit went down to 99p, rang again at 2pm they said an engineer would be out in 4 hours, now 9.15pm no engineer or call, no heating can't make hot food, breathing is suffering,  no priority number to call, have emailed complaining to them, no doubt like today will be fobbed off, think its disgusting you can't get a human on a Sunday night

HiIf you need a smart meter to replace an RTS meter you need to pick a tariff. Does anyone know how easy is it to change to a different tariff afterwards if you decide the one you chose is not for you?  What is involved in making a change?Asking for a relative who we need to sort the new meter out for. They have storage heaters on at night. We booked an appointment and picked Economy 10 but I am not sure the night hours are long enough for the storage heaters so think we may need to do more research. I don’t know if Economy 7 still exists as an option for storage heaters.Also, I know the leaflet says RTS is being switched off at the end of June (I think) but would it really affect electricity access after that date if you haven’t sorted it? I am sure that warning must have worried a great many people and surely the energy companies must have known about all this for a long while. What happens to the people they haven’t sorted by then as they seem to have hundred

Re the meter balance figure, is this a weekly/monthly figure?  Is there VAT on top of this?Meter replaced 5th Feb.I think we might be using more electric than the THTC tariff, still trying to work things out and compare to what we were using last year this time.  

When does Ovo start charging £1.50 for paper bills as I can’t see it being added on my January bill? Thanks  Sue

Hello. I have recently switched to OVO from octopus to take advantage of the heat pump tariff add on. But I can't see anywhere that the add on is active. Perhaps it is running in the back ground but I have no way of knowing. Has anybody got any experience of this? 

I’ve been searching through a few questions regarding solar with batteries and power company integration, however many answers seem to be UK-based, whish obviously wouldn’t be useful for my questions here in Queensland. Is there a forum with/for Australian customers and power users to ask and converse on here?

I’m an old SSE customer that was migrated to OVO earlier in the year. Our smart meter has been working fine and according to the website and app, it is sending readings over, but the reading has been the same each day for the last 9 days, despite the heating and water being used.When I check the reading on the meter itself, it shows the same as the reading that is being sent.  Looking back, there was also 7 days at the start of the month where this happened, and 3 days last month. The gas supply is working fine, so no problem there. I’m more than happy not to pay for it but something is definitely not right.This is the Smart Meter we have.

I have had a none-functioning smart meter since November. OVO have booked three appointments to send an engineer and each time no one has shown up, despite assurances I was a priority and me having phoned a few days beforehand to check the appointment was still booked. How can I ensure one of these elusive creatures actually attends?

As per the title my IHD idles at the bottom of the green until I switch anything on in my flat even the kettle or toaster (both new) and then it goes to the top of the red. I’m only in a small 2 bed , 1 sitting room/kitchen flat and going through £300 a month in electric since moving in 2mths ago despite being out from 7.45-6 Mon-Fri and even when I’m in don’t have the TV on etc much . I don’t get why using anything is draining my electricity so much . I have underfloor heating but that’s on 2hrs a day as once I saw the bill the first month I adjusted it right down but no difference to my electricity bills 

My elderly mother, who is fast approaching 97, recently received a demand, from OVO, for immediate payment of her account or, she was liable to receive a visit from the bailiffs!As she does not have access to the internet, she signed up, with OVO, to receive paper bills.The previous bill was received in, or around, May 2023. She has received no communication since. Why is this?As I've stated, she's almost 97 & lives independently. She does not have a mobile phone, computer, or internet access. Even if she had the latter, she'd not have a clue how to use it!! Where have paper bills gone?Do OVO care or even give a jot about their elderly customers?   

I was given an RTI code for a £100 refund. I’ve had flu so not been able to go to shop to put on my key. Does the RTI code have an expiry date?

Hi newbie here and need advice.We were with SSE but I believe OVO took over the account some time ago. The last 3 top ups I have done have definitely not added up. We put  the emergency 2 days ago which is £15 and we only get notification at 50 pence left. Today I put £30 on the key and went to top up, the meter said about £8 left of emergency,so we owed £7 to my mind. So I put the £30 in and the meter showed the key had £30 on it. The meter then showed that we had only £13 credit whereas it should have been £23, a shortfall of £10. There is no debt with this meter and to be honest we rarely use the emergency except during the colder periods purely because of the lack of warning until 50 pence left. We have got letters from them saying that we haven't topped up in a while but every week for many years at least £25 goes in a week without fail. So are OVO charging £10 every time you use the emergency electric or are they scamming us or have been hacked themselves. Any thoughts

I have twice had an engineer out to fit a Smart meter only to be told  because I'm on Economy 10 it's not possible as Economy 10 has          3 phases and Smart meters only allow for two. Indeed up until about a year ago Ovo's own website stated quite clearly that there was no Smart meter which was compatible with Economy 10 (that section of the OVO website seems to have disappeared). Now I gather from the News Media that after the end of June our Economy 10 meters are not going to work!!!To date I have not received any notification of this.  I and numerous others where I live would like to have a CLEAR explanation of what is going on specifically as regards Economy 10. 

Hi, Just a bit of background, I've been working for a meter operator for 3 months now, primarily assisting in commissioning meters and investigating revenue protection cases. Embarrassingly there's so much I still don't know. And I've noticed your expertise and would really appreciate any simple explanations you might have to offer. Specifically I just want to a clearer understanding of smets in general. What is the DCC? What's a hot shoe? When a new tenant comes in what happens to them with a tampered meter from the previous resident (Revenue Protection). How do comms hub work. Why only 1 smart meter to 1 MPAN? Just a lot of general stuff. I just want to be able to feel like I have a firm foundation so I can confidently advise in metering. Would appreciate any help, thanks in advance

Hi Alli have been on a quarterly billing cycle since i automatically got transferred to ovo years ago, i have now had an email informing me that i am now moving to monthly bills, i know ovo do not do monthly billing for new customers but i would still prefer a quarterly bill instead of monthly as thats what i have always had. does anybody know if this is somethng i can stay on or is it a non negotiable change that all customers now have been moved to?any help appreciated.

Today (Sat 11th Jan) I woke up to no gas or heating or hot water. I had to call my landlord to get a certified gas engineer out only to be told I have a pre-payment gas meter that I have to top up. It had no credit hence why no gas, This was never mentioned to me. I then tried to call you and your phone lines are closed at weekends! I text chatted to someone they said the gas meter is pre-payment you top up with a code or online. They then said the meter isn’t communicating with OVO and s

Most smart meters will soon start sending readings every 30 minutes as standard. If yours doesn't already, it will switch to half-hourly readings in 7 to 10 days.I have never had a smart meter keep an eye on my meter readings, I only have the one in near my electric consumer box that I take meter reading from, do you supply smart meters.

So today is the day I am due to get smart meter installed to replace old (Payg) THTC in PH2 postcode area in Perthshire.    Will update on how it goes.Heating in house is provided by old style storage heaters in lounge and hall with panel heaters (that we don't use) in bedrooms.Hot water is immersion.  

I am a THTC customer on  complex meters.The app doesn't support complex meters and redirects you to sign in online Except it actually doesn't and every time I try to sign in through the online browser it constantly tells me sorry the app doesn't support.…Why am I unable to access the online account 

OVO tell me that I have to chose either economy 7 or economy 10 before I can book a smart meter appointment as they need different smart meters?  Does this mean I won’t be able to move tariff once the smart meter is installed?  Also they tell me they will fit a timer so that I can boost heating with convection heaters on the off peak rate or boost the hot water?  I am quite confused as at the moment all our heating, hot water, and electric shower operate on the off peak rate at any time of day. I understood that they had to offer the same set up but they tell me they will support this type of tariff?  Can some one explain how the hot water, shower and panel heaters will work or what tariff they will run on? Or will they only run at cheap rate during the economy 10 hours. How do my quantum storage heaters know when the cheap rate is?I find the whole situation confusing and unfair when we have the THTC tariff and set up because we have no mains gas option and it is

Hi, I had my RTS meter replaced with a smart meter in December. I wasn’t aware it would cause my fuse box to trip for as long as I’ve been told (6 weeks as per the time given for information to be updated), I was under the impression this would last only about 48 hours. A week or two after it was fitted I asked OVO support about the fuse box tripping, and was told I’d have to wait the 6 weeks. It flips 10-20+ times a day, but the issue is that my heating system takes so long to heat up that my house is sitting at about 13-14C, and I’m a disabled person. This is causing me a lot of pain on top of the expected annoyance at the inconvenience. I’ve also had my computer shut down while writing, losing anything I’ve been working on that hasn’t been saved- which is more of an inconvenience but I’m afraid it’ll mess up my computer eventually as the flips are quite unpredictable. It also makes cooking, and showering, difficult at times. Has anyone had experiences with asking for help with th
