Heads up we’ve just added OVO’s National update of SMETS1 meters guide above, see it here

Any other helpful topics that are missing? Let us know!

I've just switched to direct debit when will this start please, *edited my moderator*

Hi @Mikhard123456789 and thanks for posting - are you happy if I edit your username to remove that OVO ID? I’ve also edited your comment to avoid account info being public.

You should be able to see the Direct Debit date on the (top right of your) homepage of your online account as shown in this picture:

Just in case Tim forgets, a new SMETS1 Aclara guide is now live:

this is really good thank you for sharing with us

There’s actually a few more to add too. Not all of them are ready yet, but here’s two more to join the list.

In-house display is reading the electricity smart meter, but not the gas smart meter. Anyone had the same issue ?

Hi @Redheadgolfer ,

Please show us photos of what you’re seeing - this helps with diagnostics.

Thanks!

It’s just an incorrect reading, so digits do not match the smart meter reading. There’s no error message

So the reading you can see is incorrect not just gas being missing? The IHD doesn’t normally show the meter reading in the main display and gas can drop off for several reasons

A photo does help

Hi @Redheadgolfer,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having this issue. This is very unusual.

What reading is your in-home display showing? What reading is the meter itself showing?

As BPLightlog has said we’d be able to provide more advice on this with a photo if you’re able to provide one.

Just to remark that the gas meter only sends data to the comms hub (by or on top of the electricity meter) every half hour. The comms hub then passes the data on to the IHD. The gas meter’s transmitter is battery powered, so this is how the battery life is prolonged as far as possible.

Could this be why you’re seeing different figures on the IHD - potentially 30 minutes old - from those on the gas meter itself? This will be most noticeable when gas usage is at its highest, e.g. while cooking Sunday lunch with the gas boiler running at the same time.

Sorry if this sounds a bit patronising, but t’s also worth noting that some gas meters have the ability to display the normal volume counter (in m³) and the approximate equivalent in kWh. Make sure you’re comparing like with like 🙂

It's a finance company?

@Shafaqat no. OVO isn’t a finance company. If you’re after one, you need to look elsewhere.

Thanks, which services are there

OVO primarily sells electricity and gas, but only to customers in the UK via https://ovoenergy.com , Spain via https://www.ovoenergy.es/ and Australia via https://ovoenergy.com.au . You can find out more by going to those three websites depending on which country you’re in. Only one of them will be relevant to you.

If you’re NOT in one of these three countries, then unfortunately OVO can’t do business with you at this time.
