My OVO energy

On another thread I’ve been trying to make sense of OVO’s DD Algorithm as recent days have seen my recommended DD payment zooming down and then zooming up again.  However one thing that surprised me when I looked at today’s DD recommendation is that is is currently being estimated over the next 12 months.  See image below.Given, like lots of others I’m now a “Simply Energy” customer on a rolling variable tariff,  I was surprise - if not a little shocked - to see OVO basing my current DDs on next winters demand for 2 reasons:  Firstly how do they know I’ll still be an OVO customer in 6 months time, never mind 12 months time. Secondly, how do they know what energy prices will be from Oct 2023 to Mar 2024 and if they do why are they not offering customers the option to take out fixed term plans at this price (they are offering no fixed rate plans at this time).Is this “12 months’ time” DD adjustment a new thing or has it just been introduced?  I think it must be new as my

Our smart meter (within the app) has been showing a disparity in daily amount of energy used in pounds (£). Our worst disparity to date was the 11th February 2023. Our hourly usage of gas totalled £1.03p but the daily amount shown was £2.64p. It cant be a rounding up issue.I have been told that my standing charge is not applied to this daily amount. This has happened on a number of days and now we are wondering how much we have been overcharged since we’ve had the smart meter 14 months ago. We’ve contacted SSE on approximately 6 times, answered by a South African call worker with a huge language barrier and are told every time that the smart meter is “functioning correctly”. We have had no engineer attend to our address. I have emailed the complaints department via email and the only reply I have had has been from the Ombudsman.  We feel completely helpless with no-one to contact unless the Om

We have been waiting since October 2021 to get our single phase meter upgraded to 3 phase. Multiple delays from Ovo. Engineer attended site yesterday, but hadn't been told it was a 3 phase meter install, so had to leave site. Please can OVO help, we have been waiting 4 months now.

I have recently moved into my new property middle of July and have submitted the last 2 months meter readings and been told my electricity night meter readings are too high. I do not know why this is the case as I am asleep and everything is off, besides standby items like sky tv but I have always had these on standby and shouldn't make a difference. I have a smart meter being fitted next monday 17/9/18. Confused, any ideas?

Putting aside that it’s now 14th Feb - that this payment was promised by the Government in October and that we’ve had to pay for 2 oil deliveries since then - I’ve seen all the posts, links and replies about HOW the Alternative Fuel Payment will be paid (via OVO) and when the payments will start (6th Feb) … I know that I SHOULD qualify as we have no mains gas to the village - but I don’t know for sure that OVO know that. ( …surely this is something that could have been confirmed sooner ? - but, putting that aside too - we are where we are ...)The most recent update suggests that OVO now has a list of supply numbers (MPAN) for applicable households - so, how, and more particularly WHEN, will it be possible to confirm that our address is included on the list ?  - and - assuming that we are on the list (we certainly should be) how much longer will we need to wait to actually receive the payment ? 

I am about a month from the end of the contract with my current supplier and considering switching to Ovo. I am currently on a 12 month fixed contract with my current supplier and want to ensure that the switch over date to Ovo is the the same as the end date for my existing supplier contract. How do I go about ensuring that?

So when it comes to home EV chargers what’s the process to get one?Do you rent them, buy them or loaned them?How much do they cost?Are there government grants available for home owners?can you get finance on them?Can you take it with you if you move home?Will the one you buy today be compatible with your next EV?If you switch suppliers will your home charger be compatible with your new energy supplier? 

Billing is done monthly.Why are we getting these silly emails showing a bill for two months added together?It makes no sense,at all, emails always  showed one month's usage, now this silly carry on.More madness

I was an SSE customer for 9 years and had always managed my monthly direct debits succsessfully during that time. I was moved over to OVO automatically and my direct debit of £25.00  was accepted on 10th August, 2022. On the 11th August 2022 I received an email from OVO saying I hadn’t paid enough and saying I must pay £96.00 per month with immediate effect. I did then panic and cancelled the direct debit immediately as all I had in my bank account was just over £100 and OVO would have taken £96, leaving me with £7.00 to last me for food until the 24th of August! This massive 75% increase is not acceptable to me, I simply do not have the funds to pay it!. I am an OAP on State Pension live alone in a small flat. I use very little electricity compared to some users and hiking my direct debit like this is frightening. I have no idea now what to do. Can someone out there please help me? I don’t want to be in debt to OVO but how can I get them to see how badly this affecting me. I have v

HiI am currently with British gas and they are not offering me any reduced rates for charging an EV so looking at changing to OVO. Can someone advise if OVO are accepting new customers?Will I be able to add the charge anytime to my account once I have transferred? Is it 10P per KwH? Thanks for any advice

OK, So first off I’m a newbie to OVO and first impressions are not good….not good at all. All I wanted to know was what to do about a strange reading I submitted today….my peak reading. Last time it was  21221 and today, when I was asked to submit a current reading it read, 20875. Weird. I’ve never had this problem with SSE or any other company that supplies my electricity in over 40 years. Then along comes OVO and I get a weird meter reading….a minus reading! I don’t have solar panels to mess up the meter, so does anyone know what’s going on? More to the point, does anyone know solution to this problem! Nothing wrong with the off-peak reading, just the peak reading. The woman I spoke to via chat was worse than useless.

I am not an Ovo customer . My FIT paid by Scottish Power.  application made for export guarantee payments made over 8 months ago and I’m now advised that “Ofgem delays” mean another 2/3 months wait. I applied as soon as my smart meter was fitted ( Mar 2022).any similar experiences? and how to put pressure on?  I was under the impression that all solar pv  producers were encouraged to help national supply.Whats the issue with Ofgem ( if any?)

Why are the meter readings in my account 2 days behind? I thought I should be able to see my usage in real time? Thanks

Dear All  Please help/advise us  We are executors of our late mothers house which was badly damaged by a broken pipe in December  Our insurers have declined our claim stating they ‘do not consider’ we have adhered to the conditions of an unoccupied house on the renewed policy that we keep the heating on to maintain a min temp of 10 degrees The meter readings between 1st Oct and 17th Dec amount to 11units  The system was set at a  temperature of 12.5 degrees to ensure it would kick in and keep the heat above 10 degrees required  we cannot explain why the record shows  11 units - nor do we know if this is reasonable given the system, we are sure, would only kick in when the temp dropped below 12.5  As I read through some of the comments on this forum, i wonder if perhaps,(and if 11 units are too low) was the meter reading correctly recorded ? -  if not how can we correct these figures 

I am on Smart Metre, but the last reading was one day ago, according to my online account! Why?

 As my picture shows, my gas meter reading is indeed correct and all are shown in the app. But all my electricity meter history is basically disappeared, and the meter reading from the Ovo webpage also disappeared too. I checked my recent bill, and all electricity bill is written as estimated, although the previous statement I got in the summer showed all the correct electricity meter reading. How does this happen? Is there anyone who has experienced a similar situation? Please let me know if you have any idea about this, thanks in advance!

It’s very minimal but yesterday my balance was more than today?It changes obviously When bill is due but we’re 3 days away? Any advice please? 

My current plan ends on the 3rd Oct and was wondering that if I take up another 2yr plan as offered on my renewal page on myovo will the plan start the day I renew or the 3rd Oct and will I have to pay exit fees for my current plan?

why why and why - a National drive fir smart technology, letter from Ovo advising to book a smart meter installation yet zero intention of installing anything in my area - Highlands. discriminatory practices by another powerful and monied utility 

I’m new to EVs and looking to switch energy suppliers. We’ve just purchased a used VW e-Golf. My wife uses it and only does a maximum of twenty miles a day which we’ve worked out we can easily replenish in just a few hours. across the granny cable.With this in mind we were looking to switch to the Ovo anytime tariff. However on checking the vehicle compatibility every VW group vehicle seems to be compatible except VW vehicles themselves. Another Facebook page seems to indicate that as long as the car connects to the web and the smart meters can be read at thirty minute intervals, just because it’s not listed shouldn’t be a problem. I did ask Ovo for clarification but I just got sent the link I already have to check the list. Anyone got an e-Golf using this tariff over a standard three pin granny cable who can shed some light on this? For some reason I’m not convinced the agents at Ovo have a clue.

New customer here, just spent 45 mins on the phone to OVO customer services trying to arrange install of a SMETS 2 smart meter to work with new storage heaters.** PLEASE DON’T COMMENT ON THE CHOICE OF HEATING SYSTEM. ** Customer services told me that my current meter is Phase 1 style, and that I need to contact my energy distribution supplier and get them to upgrade / amend the wiring into the flat before the new smart meter can be installed by OVO. Cust services were unable to tell me who the energy dist supplier is - had to rummage to find that its SP Energy networks.Is all of the above correct ? All seems a hell of a faff.

I had 3 new Dimplex storage heaters installed to replace the very old ones. I understood these would be more efficient, but in fact they’re really expensive- often £20 per day to run a 1 bed home.I’m wondering if I’m using them correctly? here’s this months consumption- I thought the idea was to charge overnight, off-peak, and use this stored energy during the day??   

Can anyone help?We have a big old house with some grounds. Between the garages and an old farm building we have 5 meters , 2 gas, 3 electric.It seems to be impossible to get OVO to take all 5 meters. They will, and have taken 2 but always seem to throw up problems with more meters on one account or one site. Has anyone experienced this and is there any way around it?  Thanks 

My mother-in-law who lives a mile down the road from us, is an OVO customer like us (we recommended OVO to her).  Unlike us, she uses oil to heat her home.  We installed an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) in 2020 to heat our home.  Both our homes are off-grid for natural gas (rural North Cornwall).  We replaced an LPG fuelled boiler with our ASHP.  So I have been wondering why we shouldn't enjoy the £200 payment our mother-in-law recently received from OVO?  Isn't the energy in the "air" we convert into heat energy (by virtue of our ASHP) to use to heat our home an "alternative" to mains natural gas, just as oil, LPG, wood, etc., are deemed "alternative".  I don't think the Government are, by way of their eligibility conditions looking to support users of fossil fuels,  just "alternative" fuels.   What do people think?  Are "off-grid" home owners, like us, that have invested in renewable technologies in "off-grid" areas being overlooked or is this just an unintended consequence of this
