I may have a fault on my HD unit. My fridge and freezer are plugged in all the time. The meter shows yellow. Then I plug my kettle in and the meter shows red. This can’t be right. Any ideas please?

A relative has had a smart electricity meter installed at their property. They’re now looking to get the gas one changed too. They’re wondering if access to the electricity meter (likely the cellular hub) is needed when a smart gas meter is installed? The electricity meter is inside, under the stairs, while the gas meter is about 3m away, mounted on an external wall outside. As the electricity meter is under the stairs, and they use that space for storage (nothing flammable or likely to catch fire if anything were to happen!), it is an absolute faff to empty that area.If access is needed to scan the barcodes on the cellular hub, such as the CHF or GPF ID, will a picture of the meter suffice? There is a little viewing window in the wooden panelling so the meter can be seen and numbers verified, but impossible the barcode be read by a scanner at that distance.  They’re not with OVO (I am, however) so thought I’d ask here. Their gas is with British Gas, and electric is with EDF (they’re no

Hi. I live in Scotland and had old fashioned storage heaters. I had the flat rewired so the old storage heaters came out and I bought Dimplex Quantum heaters to go in. Meanwhile, OVO installed me a smart meter in January and the engineer who installed it said I’d need to contact OVO to get the new meter upgraded to a 5 port version to accommodate the new storage heaters. Sounded straightforward, but on contacting OVO they now tell me I can’t have a dual rate meter and will have to run the system on the single rate. End of. They are very sorry etc. It’ll be unaffordable! Reading posts on this Forum, I can see there are the SMETS2 meters available - so what’s the problem I’m having? Any advice or suggestions very welcome. Thanks

I am about to buy a Kia EV6 and I believe it is not compatible with the ‘charge anytime’ offerings, however, if have one of the two OVO recommended charger installed as per the recommendation here https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/smart-charger? does this allow then Charge Anytime offering/saving to be used? Many thanks in advance.

Hi All1st question so please take pity on melooking to get an Kia EV3 on the motabilty scheme ,they will install the charger (OHME HOME PRO)Ovo dont support these? however they say they support the EV3, but it needs to be able to use the internet?Sorry to say im over 60 and have no idea if the EV3 can use the internet any help would be greatfully received,i would rather not move supplier but if that is the only way to make it work i may have to.many thanksColin

The standing charge and kWh rate on my Chameleon IHD are higher than my account tariffs . My Account tariffs are correct, any way to correct the IHD display? Thanks.

IEC 1107 port? Where is it and how do you get a reading from it Please. Our Landis Gyr E110 meter has become faulty and shows no Digit at the 10,000 space. Consequently we are receiving no payment for one of the sunniest 1/4s ever. I have looked it up and the brochure indicates that if you access the above port you can read the memory and we should be able to get a reading. Can anyone advise Please.  I have tried to ask L&G they won’t come back to me. I have tried several P.V. electricians who similarly don’t seem to know how to do this. The only advise I have found was an Indian you tube which sadly I don’t understand but seemed to show exactly what I need. Please help, asking on behalf of my nonagenarian father

Wondered if anyone can answer my query Im an existing FIT payment receiver (solar panels installed with single string inverter 11 years ago) so receive a decent FIT payment. Recently had installed a EcoFlow 3.6kw inverter with 10kw battery storage, the generation meter was changed to a bidirectional meter as instructed and followed the correct schematic. However the meter is showing a negative number and I can’t seem to work out what the solar panels are generating apart from what shows in the EcoFlow app We charge the batteries up at night using an off peak rate and then any solar during the day tops the batteries up. am I correct in thinking there should be another meter of sort between the solar panels and inverter just to monitor the generation from The solar panels? installers seem to think by summer it will change to a positive but that’s no good to me right now when I’ve generated about 30kw of solar

My smart meter is configured to economy 10 and switches port 5 (the heating port) on and off as per the tariff times. My question is this during the off peak hours does my meter record all electricity used on port 5 and port 1 at the single off peak rate or does the smart meter only apply the off peak rate to port 5 while charging the port 1 consumption at peak rate 24 / 7 and only port5 at off peak when port 5 is connected

I got a BMW 330e PHEV in February, and have had continuous problems with charging at home from the start.  Charging will get under way OK, but be interrupted at frequent random intervals, so that I have to reset charging at the car, when charging will restart, only to fail after 2-50 minutes.  The problems occur at any time of day or night.  Details:1    BMW checked the car's charging 2 days ago, and found it free of any fault.  The car's charging control system is being triggered to shut off the supply of power by some change in the quality of the power supplied by OVO.2    interruptions occur whether I supply the power via my Indra Smart Pro charger OR via a 3-pin plug from one of our domestic sockets (using in this case the BMW-supplied Flexible Cable Charger.  So apparently the fault is arising upstream of both my domestic outlets and Indra Smart Pro charger and its separate cabling from the meter box.  As far as I can understand, this can only be in the meter box itself, or even i

After OVO installed a smart meter it kept tripping. I reported this and was informed to re set the trip. This has gone in now for a year, I turn off all electrical appliances at night and it still trips. Surely this is not right?

I am thinking of choosing a fixed tariff but want to know if having a smart meter is compulsory with a fixed rate product, ideally I don’t want a smart meter?

Had my Indra Charger installed for a week now.Done several charges with no issues, OVO has 'seen' them fine.Until this morning that is.Latest charge has not shown in the OVO app and it's been saying there is an issue try again later.Got home and charger was flashing purple, which I understand is a comms error.Rebooted and now white again, but OVO don't seem to know I charged last night, as I guess there was a comms problem. Will this sort itself out or will I be charged at the full rate for this charge period because of a comms drop? And anyone with an Indra, how common is it for this to happen, bit worrying.

Hi please can someone help advise whether Ovo will install an additional GivEnergy battery for me to extend my system.I believe GivEnergy are no more , so once physically installed how do you configure the battery as I understand that GivEnergy needed to send some instruction to the inverter any help and guidance really appreciated Thanks colin

I will charge your BMW, look I have made a schedule.    Oh, I’m sorry, it has been 16 minutes and I have forgotten your charging schedule.  Fear not. Another 34 minutes has elapsed and I am clever enough to generate another smart charging schedule for you. Why don’t you go to sleep, it’s really late. Good morning…. I couldn’t be bothered to charge your car.How about tomorrow instead!?

Hi, we currently are on economy 9 tariff and have four 20+ years old Dimplex XL storage heaters. Is there a more slimline version/up to date alternative? More efficient would also help.We are both in our seventies and really haven't got a clue, I have looked online but I'm even more confused now?Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all, we had a smart meter fitted 2 weeks ago, and this is the time of month we previously had to submit readings. Do we need to this month, as we've only had it 2 weeks? (We've had a reminder to submit them). Thanks

How about considering “we are all hoping and praying for the long awaited UK rollout of the V2G plus V2H system”, (already working for well for over 12 months in France), using a suitably equipped small BEV like the Renault 5 E-Tech, with an up to date CCS2 Bi directional home charger installed in my garage, since the old Chademo Nissan Leaf system is well on the way out and never worked properly? WHEN IS THE UK ENERGY INDUSTRY GOING TO CATCH UP WITH FRANCE?

I live in Perthshire and have an Economy 10 tariff and use a Zappi ev charger. My peak rate charge is 23.56p/kWh and 16.56p/kWh for off peak.Right now (in summer) the afternoon off peak rate applies between 14.30 and 17.30.So, if I charge my car before 14.30 when the peak rate applies, I should see a “smart charge saving” off around 10p/kWh based on a 14p/kWh cost. That seems to work out fine according to the app - but only if I’m charging the car before 13.30. After that time my saving seems to drop to around 3p/kWh i.e. it looks as if my saving is relative to the off peak rate after 13.30.So my question is - does the controlling software assume that the off peak rate applies after 13.30? That’s certainly what it looks like.(13.30 to 16.30 is the winter timing for our Economy 10).

It’s been a long story… Some while ago we were offered a SMETS1 smart meter, but we delayed until a SMETS2 was available. Then an engineer came to install a SMETS2 meter, and left saying something about no signal, leave it a while. The meter is in a lower ground floor area, with a mobile signal. Finally, July 2020, new SMETS2 meter installed - not talking to the network, but wait a bit and it’ll ‘probably’ be OK. No IHD left. I thought that even if the thing couldn’t talk to Ovo at least an IHD would allow me to read the meter easily, so I requested one, which eventually arrived. Silly me, I didn’t realise that the meter - supposedly installed for MY benefit - wouldn’t talk to my home network if it couldn’t talk to OVO first. After a while we got back to Ovo who said there was nothing they could do and we would have to move our meter, at our expense (approx £250) and hope the new position had a better signal. No guarantee of that. Then I asked for a smart gas meter, reasoning that the ga

Please can someone tell me what the new Export Tariff is from 1st April 2026. My advice email tells me the new FIT tariff but not the the new Export Tariff. What is the RPI increase date that OVO use? Any help please.

Solarman app on iphone not providing daily solar production. I did reinstalled the logger on my 8kw Megarevo with no success. Any suggestion please??

Hello, Some time ago I put a post on here regarding underfloor heating with a smart meter. As I said I have two meters one of which is a radio signal one which is permanently connected and has not shut down with the switch off. I did have a smart meter booked but as they wanted to put me on economy 9 I after some thought cancelled it. I have since found out that a neighbour had  a similar set up to me but is not with Ovo. His provider has fitted two smart meters, one for standard electricity and one for underfloor heating and hot water. This seems like the best arrangement for myself. Is this something that Ovo can and would do. Thank you all.

Is Ovo boiler cover any good?
