Volvo EX40 2026 Cannot charge car using Volvo App with Hypervolt Pro 3 Charger

Have had numerous issues, multiple chats/calls with OVO CA team, with charging Volvo EX40. Had OCA app and Volvo app car charged fine but was being double billed as running via both OCA and Volvo app. Instructed to remove OCA app and only charge via Volvo app which is connected to charge anytime for 7p kwh rate. Now car will not charge at all even though in Volvo App shows plugged in and ready for scheduled start, wake up 0% added. Now trying to establish if have Hypervolt charger in Plug & Charge or Scheduled mode (no schedule added as set in Volvo app), any help please?

Steve, is you volvo giving you the message (in the Volvo app) that manual scheduling is not possible when smart charging is active (in grey half way down the screen?

Oddly, in car when I look at the main screen, there is an option to adjust the scheduling.

Checklist:

OVO EV app deleted

Volvo linked to main OVO account (to get 7p)

Hypervolt app installed - no schedules, linked to the OVO account

Volvo app installed, volvo app tells me that OVO is still controlling scheduling

What i’m wondering is if the Hypervolt app needs deleting too?

In short this is a mess and like you I’m ready to leave OVO over this.

The hypervolt charger was checked in a call I had with them, full diagnostics, essentially in this set up the charger is dumb and simply needs to be unlocked and plugged in and is ready to go…. The charging ‘SHOULD’ be managed by the Volvo via there app and set to smart schedule paired with OVO CA to secure cost effective charging i.e. 7p kwh…. Clear issue is non compatibility with the Kaluza platform / Volvo / OVO….. Mine resolved now but looks very messy in the OCA app re charges and cost but have been assured this is just visual and actual billing is in line with 7p kwh when end of month credit applied….

@stevec000 thanks for your post and welcome to the OVO Forum. I’ve updated your profile to display your EV ownership.

I’m really sorry to hear of the issues you’re experiencing - sounds really frustrating. I’ve asked our EV team for advice on this one, and I’ll let you know as soon as I’ve heard back.

I spoke to Hypervolt team, double checked my charger, no issues. Spoke to charge anytime team at 0900, promised call back nothing yet today :(. There is an issue for me with integration of OVO charge anytime within Volvo app enabling smart charging as you promise. I am now going to have to charge using a manual schedule from the car and I expect to be credited so I pay the PAYG rate of 7p KwH as committed by OVO.

I’ve got the same problems - with the same model car. Its been happening for weeks and OVO clearly dont understand the problem. I can charge with a manual over-ride albeit at the higher rate. In my honest opinion the new system wasnt fully tested and compensation is needed.

Lets see what the OVO team come back with but I think this will be a matter for the Regulator soon

@stevec000 and @salarygirl thank you both for the updates - I will feed these back to our Charge Anytime team and, hopefully, they’ll get to the bottom of this soon.

Please update us when you hear back from them, and I’ll do the same.

Still nothing :( I charged the car last night with OCA app connected to my Hypervolt charger, all smart charging disabled in Volvo app as does not work (regulatory issue for me!). This of course worked but again I get double charged in the OCA app for same charge!! Next step will be regulator and also demanding free exit from OVO and I will move to Octopus.

I’ve just come off the phone with OVO. Their latest advice was to delete the OVO EV App and charge directly from the Volvo app. The problem right now is that the Volvo wont allow me to schedule charging sessions. I was also told I would get the 7p rate - the logic for this is that Volvo account is directly linked to the OVO main account. OVO have ensured in their billing process that 7p is applied. Charging immediately would incur the full cost.

Here’s the challenge  - unless I can get the Volvo app to allow scheduling its of no use. The Volvo app is offering no option to “charge now” and no scheduling option. I could set a schedule in the Hypervolt app but I wasnt asked to do that. The belief being that the Volvo app will do it all.
Frankly fed up, the Volvo issue is clearly known but knowledge about how to set things up is hazy at best. I’ll give it another night and then the Regulator.

Exactly the direction I was given, it does not work, so I have had to revert back to using OCA app and turning off smart charging in Volvo app.
