I have an IHD 3 that can tell me how much electricity ive used per day, week and month in terms of actual cost and kWh. The reading is accompanied by the export icon so i assume its  trying to tell something about my consumption and what ive exported back to the grid from my solar panels. However i can't work out what its actually telling me! Is it simply the net figure of my consumption after what ive exported has been deducted? If so what  Id like to know is whether i can use the display to tell me separately what ive actually consumed and what ive actually exported. Thanks    

as part of a smart meter installation will I have an isolation switch installed as well?

Our power supply has failed and UKPower networks have advised that our meter has gone into vend mode. We have a significant credit on our account. It went off at 22.15 and there appears to be no one to talk to or to get help. Any ideas?

My smart meter is blank when I look at it? Last time I looked, which I don't normally, it was to take a reading as they said they couldn't do it from their end, I just read it and they sent a bill for 3 months which it looks like I will be doing again at the beginning of Feb. But it was working then I just took the readings. Is this normal? My IHD appears to be working ok? 

  My contract with Scottish Power is coming to an end and I'm looking at switching to OVO or to First Utility (who are a bit cheaper). I have smart meters (Secure Liberty 100) installed by First Utility when I was with them previously. They are currently functioning as dumb meters. Astonishingly, First Utility have advised me that if I switch to them, there is no way they can make my meters smart again (except replacing them). Will the meters become smart again if I switch to OVO? Thank you  

Hi, Earlier this year, I had a smart meter fitted. I specifically asked for a SMETS2 and was told that SMETS2 would be fitted. However, whilst thinking about switching supplier, I'm told that the national database says that my address is fitted with a SMETS1. How can I tell whether I actually have a SMETS2 or 1? Thanks.

I would like to add my charger to the zap map, not for profit but for helping out others who are in need of a bit of juice. I wonder if we are allowed to do that? Andras

I have just purchased two electric vehicles.  However, having a SMETS1 meter limits me on getting the best tariffs. Other suppliers will not update me and refer me to OVO as the current supplier and meter installer.  OVO say I am not a priority and will not give me a date for either a change or upgrade.  Me in the middle, am stuck paying high tarfis.  The question is when will this be resolved.  Saying it will happen “Soon” is meaningless.  Can someone give me a date, can I not have a SMETS 2…. Help please

Hi,  Our Smart Meters are in a cupboard in the porch. We had the smart meters installed on Tuesday just gone and ever since then we have a very overpowering smell from the cupboard.  It doesn't smell like gas or electrics. We had UK power out and check the installation and all good. The only thing that's changed is the new meters and they had to cut a hole out of the cupboard floor to drop the meter into. This area is to ground under boarding so I got self expanding foam and I've filled the gap around the meter so no air gaps.  But still got a very horrible smell. Any ideas?  

I am hoping someone from OVO will be able to help me with this.With your new (upcoming?) V2G tariff which pays for exported energy:1) Does this work with a smart meter (SMETS2?) which keep track of 'exported' energy kWh via a separate reading? Therefore it's counting both the EV car's exported energy and the solar panel's exported energy together?2) Would someone with solar panels therefore be paid by you on the basis that they're outside of the FiT scheme (opting-out or never registered for FiT export payments?)3) Does the solar panel energy have to first be 'fed into' the V2G car battery, and then exported out to the grid via the V2G connector, or e.g. when the car isn't connected to the charger and is out on the road, and there is excess solar energy being produced at home, would that energy be exported and counted by the smart meter directly and would this exported energy still be paid for by you regardless?4) Is it a REQUIREMENT that we have an EV car and/or purchase an EV charger

I was an OVO customer a couple of years ago and they installed my smart meters. I then switched away to other suppliers. I am now in the process of switching back to OVO. Will my smart meters now work again for automated meter readings as other suppliers could not use them.

I have noticed if I press the number 2 on the smart meter it gives me the option to switch boost on for 60 minutes is this normal as I can't find anything about it in the instruction booklet?

I have been with OVO for some years and I am extremely happy with them with one exception. I am still waiting for my first smart meter. When I enquire the answer is always ‘when we are in your area. I don’t understand this. I live in the Scottish Borders not outer Mongolia.

In response to OVO's 'encouragement', our 'smart' meter system (so far, marked only by its dumbness) was fitted on 18th December. The IHD (In Home Display) shows some (and inconsistent) info about electricity usage and none about gas - I note that other contributors have flagged this problem. Compared with the known power rating of various appliances (I tend to use our microwave since it is programmable for a wide range of different power outputs), the IHD is showing much higher electricity usage that I would have expected. So far, there is no info at all on the OVO website regarding our gas usage and, as elderly people, my wife and I struggle to press the buttons and read the figures on the new gas meter - that is equipped with an entirely blank display... OVO customer support promised that someone would arrange to visit and check the system within five days of my notifying the problem. Nothing has happened - except for a further email politely telling me to shut up and wait. I can pr

Had an EV installer around today. Took a look around and decided it was too difficult to wire back to the existing consumer unit and the easiest option was to fit an additional CU in the meter box (the charger unit will be adjacent to it). He suggested that my supplier might be able to arrange it as the job would entail isolating the meter while the work was done. Is this something Ovo do or could arrange and if so how do I go about it? Chris

Can you please tell me why the smart meter does not reset to zero after a bill run? Please don't tell me it will just keep going up and up each day, that really is not useful at all. Is there a way of manually resetting it after a bill run? Cheers Mark

Prior to having my smart meter fitted on September 20th my old meter showed one window for day and one for night readings. I am on Economy 7, have night storage heaters and try to use the cheaper nighttime rate wherever possible. The installation engineer removed the ancient looking clock which dictated when the night rate cut in.My new meter however only gives me the opportunity to submit one daytime rate which I assume will eventually be submitted automatically. Can you assure me that I am still on Economy 7 and let me know how I will be able to forward readings? 

Hi all,  We are current EV Everywhere customers with a smart charger fitted in July 19. We are now moving house and need to figure out what do with our smart charger. Ideally we’d have a charger fitted in the new house but I don’t know if we transfer kit from old house to be house? If we don’t transfer the charger would there be an additional cost as we have already used the government grant with the first charger?  ThanksRebecca

Hi all,I had an OVO SmartMeter installed in 2017.We've just bought an electric car (a PHEV - a second hand Mitsubishi Outlander).To fit a charging point in our driveway I've engaged ChargedEV, who have forwarded the enquiry to UK Power networks to install a 100 amp fuse.In advance of that I need to identify if our meter tails and consumer unit tails are 25mm (rather than 16mm).As I understand it, OVO 'own' the meter tails.I (or at least a qualified electrician) 'own' the consumer unit tails.UK Power networks 'own' that fuse.How do I work out what size the Ovo meter tails they are?(And any advice on the same for the consumer unit connection welcome!)Many thanks, Neil 

I need to send in meter readings. I have smart meters installed but I’m not sure how to get the reading displayed on the screen. Could someone please tell me what buttons I have to press to get the readings? Thank you  

Hi - following OVO's removal of the SMART Gateway can you please offer a list of CAD devices that are approved for retrieval of real time data from my smart meter? Also please point me at the process for getting an approved unit registered/connected. There are a few lively threads on these forums but no definitive answer (that I could find) on the white listed CAD devices and connection process.

Hi Now, I know for a like for like type of light bulb the title will be the case - e.g. 3w LED bulb will be cheaper to run than a 7w LED light bulb and a 5w energy saving bulb will be cheaper than a 10w energy saving bulb and so forth. But what if I am comparing different types of bulb? So is it still the case that a 5w energy saving bulb will be cheaper than a 7w LED bulb? All the advice I've read seems to say that LED is pretty much always cheaper 'in the long run' but that also takes into account the purchase cost of the bulb in the first place. I am only interested in the running costs and disregarding the purchase costs. Then what if I have a combination of bulbs? Would I just add up the total wattage? So in this example, will an uplighter using a 5w energy saving bulb be cheaper than a ceiling light using two 3w LED bulbs? Many thanks in advance

Hi, I've moved out of a rented house and forgot to read the meters :( I'm now living away from the property and it's been more or less unoccupied for the most part for the last couple of months so I've got a feeling any estimated readings are going to be way too high. If the estimates are too high (ie higher than the next readings taken when landlord gets property back) how will I get the difference back?? Thanks!!

What's the current status with OVO?Obviously I basically want to know:- If I sign up now do I get offered a free smart meter installation- If so, will it be SMETS2?- If not, is there a scheduled date for when this is likely to be available?Many thanks,Rich
