I need to send in meter readings. I have smart meters installed but I’m not sure how to get the reading displayed on the screen.
Could someone please tell me what buttons I have to press to get the readings?

Thank you

Your smart meters are designed to send us your meter readings automatically. You can check the readings we’ve received by heading to the ‘meter readings’ page of the OVO app (download for Android or iOS). If you did want to cross-check these against the meters themselves check the instructions for your meter type below.

For SMETS1 ‘Secure’ smart meters:

There’s a slight difference between the the S1 meters we installed. You’ll need to press different buttons to get your readings if you’ve got a single rate meter, or a dual rate Economy 7 meter.

If you’re on a single rate plan press ‘9’ on the keypad. The reading will be displayed alongside ‘IMP KWH’.

To take dual (day/night) readings for Secure Liberty 110 or 112 S1 smart meters (which are designed to work best with storage heaters), press 9 on the meter’s keypad. If you’ve got a Secure Liberty 100 S1 smart meter, press 6 to confirm the Day and Night meter readings.

For SMETS2 Aclara, Flonidan, Honeywell or Elster smart meters:

Aclara (Elec) / Flonidan (Gas) Elster (Elec) / Honeywell (Gas)
Reading the meter
  • Elec: Press A three times until TOU Rate 1 appears.
  • Gas: Press C to wake up, then C to access the menu. Use B to scroll and C to select the reading option.
  • Elec: Press the top button once or twice
  • Gas: Press the circle button once or twice

Worried that your smart meter has lost communication? You can help diagnose this by following the smart meter health check for your meter type below, then reaching out to the Support team.

Got another model of smart meter? We might have you covered in the guides below (if not leave a comment to let us know and we’ll do some research!)

I have switched from Ovo and need to give meter readings to my new supplier.

The smart meter and both my gas and electricity meters are blank.

What do I do and will I continue to have gas and electricity?!

Thanks

I’ve got a smart meter but it has never communicated with ovo as I live in a mobile signal dead zone. I need to provide a meter reading to leave ovo press 9 and it scrolls through various screens. Told by edf to give the reading for IMP KWH and songave the reading for the screen after that shows ovo rejected it saying far too high. There’s another reading which is after “using now” which looks closer to what they say they had in April 18 (3k then and 8k now) but that’s not the screen I was told to read both say KWH! Help.

Hi @Alic94

Sorry for the late reply on this one. Did you manage to get it sorted?

Cheers

Had a smart meter fitted a couple of months back, plugged in the in home display that comes with it. This is not picking up data (searching) and the screen on the smart meter itself is blank.

I cannot therefore provide a meter reading. My direct debit has doubled based on 'estimates', my energy consumption has not doubled.

What can I do to provide a meter reading so I can receive an accurate bill please?

Thanks,
Mark.

Has your smart meter got a little keypad on it? If it has, press the "9" key and the meter will cycle through the readings, starting with "IMP KWH" followed by the reading in kWh.

If your meter doesn't have a keypad, or that doesn't work, post a picture of the meter on here.

Erm @mabell is this a SMETS2 smart meter?

If so, you don't get the meter reading from the IHD anyway. You read it directly from the meter itself.

Have a look at this other Topic where I've posted a lot of background info about SMETS2 Meter installations with photos and diagrams.
