My OVO energy

Email at 710AM today for an event which was midnight to 3AM this morning. .. 

HiJust switched from boost to ovo. I tend to use the energy app to topup and monitor the credit levels, with were fairly accurate when I used the boost app. Unfortunately, the ovo energy app is, well, bad. I get absolutely no reading from electricity despite the ihd being about 3 feet from the meter, and the gas reading that I do has is from February…Not to mention how many times the topup through the app has failed leaving my money in limbo.

I have a quite different result in my Power Move calculations for September than OVO did. Having been very close with July and August calculations, I would like to know why!July, my figure 6.16%, OVO 6.17%August, my figure 5.82%, OVO  5.86%September, my figure 6.19%, OVO 6.94%I have read the topic raised by Fern3 and am now aware of days being discarded due to missing half-hourly readings or late delivery of the data. However, the only way I can jimmy my calculations to match OVO’s result is to discard the data for the last 5 days of September for a 6.95% result.Understanding what happened is important to me! Understanding what happened and getting my other fiver back is even more important!!

Having been told that I owe Ovo a lot of money due to underpayment for my electricity consumption, I went back over my past 2 years of bills (since we moved in). I was amazed to see that I seem to using far more peak time power than off peak and that in the winter months the peak time consumption shoots up. This should not be the case - the storage heaters are only active off peak, and all washing and tumble-drying also being done off peak, it really looks as if we are being charged peak rates during off peak hours and vice versa. Is this possible? How can we check? i have raised this with Ovo and am waiting for their response, but I wonder if anyone else has ever experienced this?

Hi there, I am still using the web-based Indra portal to set my charging times with Charge Anytime.  This was the advice given as at the time of installing my charger, a few months ago, as there was a compatibility issue with Kaluza and the latest Firmware of in Indra Smart Pro. Has this issue now been resolved?  If so, can I now download the Indra App and connect my Indra Smart Pro so that I can use with the Charge Anytime tariff to set charging times. Thanks, Gary

Hello, my meter has been broken for a while now. I am extremely rural and have been unable to manage getting an engineer out to help. ANYWAY i just wondered is this meter controlled by the rts signal.  

Hi folks,I had an OVO engineer round today to install an isolator switch after my meter so that I can get work done on the consumer units safely, no issues with that - all went fine.Upon putting the power back on he said that my meter (a Secure Liberty 100 SMETS1 model) wasn’t ‘talking to OVO’ and suggested that he swap it out for a new one while he was here. At no cost to me so I said fine.Sadly however the new meter (a Aclara SGM SMETS2 model) could not pick up the WAN at all and he was unable to commission it. He said that it might pick it up in the future and someone could come and commission it then, but more likely it will just act as a ‘dumb’ meter until such time as Arqiva improve the radio coverage in my area.As I understand it the old meter would have used GSM networks to communicate rather than the Arqiva radio system which is why it was able to function fine in smart mode and the new one cannot.Can anybody advise on what the li

Earlier this year my online OVO appeared to be in credit and I claimed a refund. Now OVO say it was a mistake and that I have to pay the refund back. Do Ofgem’s back billing rules apply in this situation?

Hi Forum,We were on a vacation from Mar 29th - Apr 9th with only the fridge and boiler turned on. However our energy usage shown for days from 29th - Apr 1 is pretty high. For the remaining days i.e from Apr 2 - Apr 9 the per day usage reported is the same each day and as expected since we were out on vacation. But why would the 29th - Apr 1 usage is not the same and very high compared to the rest of days we were out on vacation.  

Looking at having PV system installed panels on east and west roof elevations. Have no room in garage for batteries or the inverter. Can these be attached to the outside walls with a canopy over the top. Concerned about security and if the batteries will be affected by the weather. Anyone had this done? Thank you. 

economy 7 water heater running continuously since key overwrite I have a key meter and all electric Dimplex storage heaters and an immersion water heater designed to run on Economy 7. I had an overwrite on my electric key due to another issue. In the last couple of days I have noticed that I can hear the immersion water heater heating at all times of the day. Previously I only heard it heating up during the night on the Ecomony 7 times. I have been told by OVO already that my meter does not use the RTS signal so it’s nothing to do with the signal being switched off. I also noticed a storage heater switched on during the day today for the first time this winter heating up during the afternoon.   Im a bit concerned as to why this has suddenly happened and worried that it will start using a lot of electricity. So far it doesn’t seem to have but I’ve only just noticed it.  Can someone please advise?

my powers been out since yesterday morning, this is the second time this month. I recently installed a smart meter and I think that’s what been causing all this trouble. I set it up for direct debit, but it keeps switching to prepayment mode. I’ve absolutely had it with ovo, there’s no helpline or anything. My whole family is left to start the week with no electricity, no showers or anything. Kindly rectify this or let me know what I can do!TIA

Switched to OVO PAYG from Boost PAYG, Topped up fine in new app however the top up "card"  in the app is not working instore.Tried mutliple times this evening.I am off supply now and owe £17.xx so I can’t get “friendly credit” There is an outage from 1 am to 5 am tonight. What am I supposed to do???? Even if I could get money into the bank it would cost me a fortune in travel at this time of night backwards and forwards to the paying--in cash machine. Total joke has been off supply for four years due to a faulty battery meter, which the engineer told me had been capped off since I moved in. For four years, I went without (gas)central heating. & hot water.  Just get it back for the first winter and then this.  The engineer arrived earlier than arranged so I am owed compensation(The afternoon appointment requested and confirmed) arrived at 10:20 am. THE fixed rate 1yr including boiler service essentials plan offers a boiler service. The plan has an £60 excess per claim for an engineer sent out. Is this thr case for the free service - so I would pay £60 for this or is it really free. Thank you 

I’m a pay as you go key meter customer and have always had £20 emergency credit available. Now it has suddenly changed to £15 and when I looked into it on the support package page it says that emergency credit remains at £15. I think it has actually decreased from £20 to £15 which seems like a small amount but considering the cost of living crisis it makes a difference to me! Has anyone else noticed this?

We recently had an electrician in who said we have a very old and the original electricity supply box, even though we have a smart meter. He described it as “a biscuit tin” and it needs changing because it will be increasing the amount of energy we use. I have attached a picture of what it looks like. Who would I contact to change this and can they do it as I don’t want to be charged more than necessary, especially as all other costs are increasing.

Since my Fixed rate deal expired in November last year I have experienced problem after problem with the level of my DDR payments, Meter readings being ignored and my Anniversary date being extended by 4 months.At the outset on the variable rate tariff, my projected usage was estimated at 40% more than previous years (We have been OVO customers for 5+ years). I carried out detailed projections of my own, including the outrageously increased standing charges, and arrived at a monthly figure that I felt would comfortably cover our annual usage. Several phone calls later resulted in their agreeing my figures and reducing my DDR payment to the level I requested. They gave me a small compensation payment, which I gave to charity. 3 weeks later, I received an email informing me that my DDR payments were going to be increased again! This has been repeated in spite of calls and agreement to leave the payment unaltered. Why?I then discover, following another email notifying me

I have previously moved into a new property supplied by OVO and as now the legal occupier I opened a letter to them sending debt collectors round because the previous tenants hadn’t paid their bill!I was mortified that they are doing this! I tried calling and couldn’t get through to them at first. When I did the gentleman was very reassuring and told me he would rectify the bill and did the sale pitch to which I decided to stay with them.Received the new statement and they are still trying to charge me!! I’ve had it with this company already! Painful is an understatement! Plus my new email as a new client states they are open Saturday they are not!Not at all happy and want to go back to Bulb Energy even though they are slightly more expensive. Customer service was second to none.

I am thinking of switching to the 1 year fixed loyalty tariff but I do not need the boiler service.  My son is a qualified gas engineer and can do that for us.  How do I take the tariff without the service? thanks 

Hi all,  recently moved into a new house and we have just been moves from sse to ovo. We have just had new smart meters and in home display etc fitted by ovo. We told them we wanted to change from quarterly billing, used by previous tenant, to pre payment. The meters will do this. But nothing has been done by ovo, and after 2 hours on the phone being passed from one person to thr next and cut off 3 times, they keep trying to send me to Boost. Boost keep sending me back as I'm.not their customer and they have no details so can't do anything. Ovo clearly do pre payment as they have an app for it, our new meters will do it as the engineer told us, yet no one on the phone seems to be able to help. Thr last person I spoke to seemed to accept ovo can do this but suggested I ring back in a week as the meters weren't registered yet. Really can't go through all the hassle again, anyone have any ideas about who to contact, what to tell them, and exactly how to simply get onto pre payment? Any

Hi I received an email asking me to book a boiler service as part of the customer support package as I’m disabled. I didn’t do it right away as I have a dog and needed to check with my daughter what days she could get off to take the dog out the way. However, an appointment was made for me for last Friday without checking with me which meant she had to take a day off unpaid. On the Friday morning I received a text saying it had been cancelled and re arranged for today (again without consulting if that was suitable) so again because of the short notice she had to take another day off unpaid. It’s now almost 8.30pm and there has been no call, text or email and no one has appeared.There’s no phone number for the engineer attached to any of the emails I received or texts. the Ovo customer helpline didn’t even know what I was talking about. Can anyone tell me who i should call to get this sorted? My “ free” boiler service has now cost me almost £200

How do I get help with a billing query about Heat Pump Plus credit? Problem: I have a heat pump and I’m using the Heat Pump Plus tariff. Each month I get a bill credit for the difference between the standard rate and the heat pump plus rate. Last month’s energy bill didn’t include any Heat Pump Plus credit.  This seems like billing error and I wanted to understand why. Sounds like a straightforward question that should be easy enough for customer services to answer, right? Sadly not. After 50 minutes on online chat, I was told “that’s a different department and I can’t help you via online chat” and I need to phone Corgi. That didn’t seem right and I can’t spend ages on the phone. So, I wrote an email to hello@ovo… and today I got a very confusing reply about a “gas boiler that you’ve just discovered” and I need to phone Corgi about my insurance product. That obviously bears no relation to my query. So
