We have 2 Skoda EVs, should we set both of these up directly with Charge Anytime?

Hi there

I’ve had Charge Anytime working with my Skoda PHEV (charging with a 3-pin plug) for a couple of years, and happy with how it works.  My wife is on the verge of buying a fully electric Skoda, so we’ll be having a dedicated charger installed - probably the Hypervolt Pro 3. 

My understanding is that I should be able to add the new car to my CA account, and both should charge at the 7p rate.  I’m concerned after seeing this thread that there will be problems because the cars are the same brand (indeed, part of the same parent company as that in the linked thread).

Has anybody else encountered problems using two cars of the same brand with Charge Anytime?

Hi ​@GarySN , don't even try to register both cars. Instead, register the Hypervolt charger (and de-register the car that's currently registered).

 

With the Hypervolt registered, you will be able to charge any car you like at Charge Anytime rates. I've done this with my Indra charger, and been able to charge either of our EVs, and been able to offer charging to visiting friends and family with no problems.

 

 

​​​​​If you’ve got a compatible charger, simply set that up with Charge Anytime, rather than the vehicles, and you can then plug-in and charge any vehicle you like. You can find all compatible models of EV or smart charger here.

 

There’s a helpful topic on the Forum about setting up your compatible charger, I’ve linked to it below if you’ve not been able to set that up yet:

    Thanks - that makes sense. I think I’m getting hung up on the fact that there may be times when we want to charge at the same time, but this should be a rare occurrence, as the EV will need charging far less frequently.
