My OVO energy

Was with SSE years ago and basically I transfered over to Octopus energy as my bills where coming in at around £280 pcm pre pandemic. I am single occupancy in a 2 bed flat, I am out all day all sockets turned off. I also have no heating at all in flat there was storage heaters In flat but they where removed by HA. I still have 1 on kitchen wall but that is turned off at main swithboard and has never been used. I also tend to go straight into my bedroom when I get home to chill out. Anyways when I switched I recived an email of customer service from Sse regarding my meter being faulty in that email it clearly stated I was on economy 10. When octopus took over by the emails I recived from them on joining up they did not get a final read from sse so they used an estimated read taking it from the last actual meter reading provided by SSE. The meter I had at time was not a smart meter. When octopus took over the account they put me on economy 7. My question is

Does anyone have the equation to work out the KWH from a meter reading for both gas and electric. Please.

We've had a painful saga with a traditional PAYG card meter for gas, where the card contacts were failing but OVO's diagnostics did not check that over the course of 9 months. So we had a total of 5 weeks without gas until finally the meter was replaced. The National Grid engineer seemed to say that this is quite a common failure, so why not check for it? If you put your card into the meter and the display doesn't come on, chances are the contacts for the card are failing. Why not ask that simple question early in the process? Before sending a new card, asking for the contents of all 32 screens, sending customer to look for a shop that has a new card in-stock... I have lodged a complaint because the OVO process and outcomes were absolutely painful. I hope posting here may shortcut this for others... 

I have a THTC installation with a Radio Teleswitch that controls the storage heaters.  Has OVO developed any smart meter configurations that can replace the radio Teleswitch as this is due to become obsolete next year.

Hi. I haven’t been charged for electricity used since my meter tripped over from 99999 to 0 on the 3rd of December. The meter readings are still being taken and on the app show an extra 1 on the front, although this can’t be displayed on the meter. For example, today my meter shows 06521 and the App shows 106521. OVO tell me their system can’t charge me until the 5/6 digit issue is sorted out. Has anyone else had this problem?

I can’t top up the smart meter using the app. It says it is under scheduled maintenance. How long will this maintenance last? When can I top up using the app? Why was I never informed about this “scheduled maintenance”? Nothing, not even an email?? 

  Why didn't OVO give me statement for the period 16/12 to 14/01 or take any direct debit. Today I received 2 statements one for the period 16/12-14/01 and then 15/01-16/02 both listed as February statement!!!! OVO is starting to go downhill  

I was’t at home over Christmas but according to my electricity usage more Kwhrs was used on Christmas Day than is normal for me.  What is going on ?  OVO speak much about this but actually explain very little in fact they talk complete ‘Grey’.  Not good enough !  Same with my Gas ?????  The records should only show actual usage ie, If nothing is used a big fat zero should be shown for those particular days - anything else is completely confusing !  But that’s the name of the game isn’t it - confuse them so that they will eventually ‘go away’.

Hello, I am currently with British gas and Economy pay as you go meter with ofline recharge with the key provided. I would like to switch the provider to ovo energy with economy 7 supported meter with online topup option(smart meter). Is it possible? I tried calling the customer care and they told they aren't accepting economy 7 customers as of now.

Got a letter from Boost on the 26th January 2024 stating they had added the £150 home discount to my electric account. It is now 15th February 2024 and still no money added to my smart meter credit. Absolutly abysmal  service from OVO ( Boost). I dont think they really want to  give this money out and are making it very, very difficult to obtain any satifactory result.I have given them the information they asked for , a home telephone number and email address. The information does not match the information they have on record. There will only one account number matching my name. I will have to take this further as they seem to be deliberately withholding  money genuinly entitled to me.

Since the 1st October, my smart meter tracker has been showing unusual values. Have phoned ovo numerous times, but still getting the same answer which is, still having glitches. I want someone to come and have a look at my meter, but not getting any joy. 

There are various discussions about reducing carbon emissions and many ( or most?) refer to net zero .. but .. it that the best target? We already see the effect of global warming on climate and depending on your situation, that can already have an effect on life. More often than not, most refer to a Net Zero target which in effect ‘levels’ the rise but does little to reduce warming. This then moves to ‘Sub Net Zero’ so that some reduction is expected but probably not for quite a number of years. And finally, Zero emissions meaning that nature can really begin to work its magic and repair the planet.  

Hi there I have just picked up the keys to my new house and the vendors advised me that the gas & electricity are both provided by OVO. A smart meter is installed and payment is by way of PAYG using separate top-up cards. I am eager to change the payment method to Direct Debit. How can I go about this? I can't find any details on the OVO website and an email to customer services has been met with a particularly unhelpful response suggesting that they can't offer any advice because my email address isn't registered with them. Hi there.To set the scene…..My partner was an OVO customer in her old rented house. Even though I eventually moved in with her, the OVO bill stayed solely in her name, as it always had.In Feb 2022 we got our first house together. We moved on Feb 14th and our tenancy ended on March 1st. My partner contacted OVO as she wished to take the account with us - but they wouldn’t offer the same tariff, so she told them we were leaving the property and wanted to cancel. She paid off the outstanding on the account, along with an extra month or so as we weren’t quite at the end of the contract.Fast forward to mid-August. We’ve been moved 6 months, and I get a letter from OVO in my name (odd, as I’ve never been an OVO customer, they’ve never had my details). It was sent to the old address, and luckily only found its way to me as Royal Mail are still redirecting. If not for that, I wouldn’t even know about this.The letter was a bill in m

I have been monitoring this situation for a while ! No matter when my boiler starts in the mornings OVO’s gas energy graphs/lists always show it starting half an hour earlier, OVO insist it’s my boiler starting up, I can tell you that’s impossible ! I know my smart heating system inside out and got very frustrated being fobbed off by OVO, so being an early riser I took it on myself to prove so.At midnight for four days I turned the gas off by the lever at the gas meter,I also physically turned the boiler off at the switch, the following morning at 5.55am the gas was turned back on, at 6am the boiler was powered up,the graphs over this period still reported my boiler starting at 5.30am ! With an average of 1.49kwh used in that half an hour.On further investigation the energy app “Hugo” is reporting the same (starting half an hour earlier)With my evidence supplied to OVO they still insist it’s my boiler, 🤔 which is impossible, as is anything else using

Why dont OVO have an overnight Cheap tarriff ?

It’s very frustrating contacting OVO to inform of changes to tenancies - it takes so long.  Why isn’t your website capable of accepting these changes?  Is it really necessary for me to spend the best part of an hour listening to music whilst on hold, just to tell you a few dates and details which I could easily do online?In this day and age I think it wise to update your systems, making it easier to inform you of changes.  Stating that you need to talk to a customer before you set up an account or alter details seems a little unique when other companies do not.

I moved house in March 2022, and sent photos of meter readings (twice) to close my account.  My account was in credit and for no reason given, Ovo was not able to process this until late May 2022.   Suddenly, in June 2022 I received an email saying there was a “meter reading dispute” but again, no information given.  I don’t see how there could be a dispute when I sent photos of the meter.  I assumed this was a mistake and didn’t reply.  In September 2022 I got a demand for money, for a property that I hadn’t lived in for 6 months and since then have had demands for money, now threatening debt collectorsI opened a complaint on 13th June 2023 to ask for this to be resolved, and have had no response apart from a further demand for money today (17th July) so clearly the complaints process is not workingHow can I get Ovo to address this ?

This doesn’t affect customers currently onboarded with Ohme and Charge anytime. If you have an Ohme charger and a compatible EV, you’ll be able to sign up to Charge Anytime via your vehicle instead.To sign up to Charge Anytime you must be an OVO customer and have an eligible car or charger. As a boost customer are we supposed to be using the Ovo top up app? Since they are essentially the same company ? I read that last year ovo were migrating boost customers over. Onto ovo ? all you can see on the boost app are top up amounts no balance of what is on meters etc? Does the ovo top up app give you more informative?

Hi my online account daily usage amount is not updating it is still the same as the opening amount at the beginning of the month. Looking at the smart meter readings they have been updated daily. Is there a reboot that can be done.  It’s clearly an IT matter not a meter problem.
