Smart meters

My smartmeter has been reading £1.08 since yesterday. Clearly something is wrong. Any ideas what's going on and how to resolve it? Thanks

Hello all, I’m new here. Got some problem with the meter when I moved into a rental property last week. Googled a bit and seems like there are a lot of useful resources and helpful participant in this forum so tried to post a question here. The property is an apartment in a block and all meters are located in the basement of the block. I’m not expert of meters but below few things of mine looked suspicious:It may not be showing clearly in the photo but there is a “X” at the bottom right corner of the display. Looking at other meters of the same model around, they are showing a square sign at the same location of the display. The red light is always on. Again - the same light of other meters is not on. The reading has been stale since I moved in last Friday. There are 5 lights (SW, WAN, etc) at the upper part. They are always off for my meter but showing green lights for other meter. What should I do? Contact the agent, the onsite property management or the energy company? I don’t even

We switched to OVO some time ago from British Gas who’d already installed smart meters. Crazily the BG smart meters can’t be read by OVO. About 18 months ago an OVO engineer came to fit new meters & we found that while the electric meter could be swapped within the available space the gas meter couldn’t as the model OVO uses is bigger than the BG one. As we’d just finished a cellar conversion we didn’t want new cupboards etc ripped out to accommodate new OVO meters. Does anybody know if there are now smaller gas smart meters same sort of size as BG version now available?

Hi All,I’m interested in having a 3-phase smart meter installed. I’ve read current status with installs but had two questions re tariff and billing for when the time comes if you can help? If I’m on a competitive fixed tariff at the moment that’s due to end later this year, will having a new meter installed mean I’m moved onto a new tariff? I expect not but never done this before.    I have 3-phase supplied to my house but I actually only use a single phase at 100A. Does the way metering works mean I won’t see a change in energy consumption and cost because the smart meter effectively adds the use across the 3 phases? Ie 3000 kWh on one phase, but 0 kWh on the other two = billed for 3000kwh? Plus a single standing charge as it’s one meter? I have a 3-phase “heritage” meter at presentIm eager to have one fitted in order to access smart tariffs in future for EV charging. Rationale for having 3-phase smart meter fitted was to future-proof in the event I do utilise the other phases.Thank y

My electricity meter doesn't seem to be working properly, it just says "initialised" and nothing else.  My smart meter is sending out my gas readings but not my electricity ones.  I have tried to request a new smart meter, but it says that I am ineligible for one at the moment.  Any help much appreciated 

I’ve just looked at my electricity smart meter reading on the actual meter and on the IHD and although they are the same (34350) they are both different to the smart reading given on my OVO account (33384).I’m wondering where the extra 966 kWh have gone! When I had the smart meter installed I was on a dual rate tariff which was then changed to a single rate via the smart meter. Is that where the difference has come from?

Looking for a little bit of advice with this if anyone can help :) My gas meter doesn’t submit meter readings automatically due to the distance from the electricity meter so I have to do these manually. I’ve went to get a reading today and it’s showing ‘Locked 10469883 minutes’ OSM with the number decreasing every minute. I can’t get any data to provide a meter reading Has anyone came across this before?any help is appreciated  thank you 

Will OVO install a smart meter for electricity only, if a dual fuel consumer does not wish to also upgrade their traditional gas meter? And if not, why not? Presumably OVO billing is capable of handling automated meter reading for electricity, and manual meter reading for gas, does anyone know? An advantage of having an electricity meter is to allow dynamic tariffs (e.g. time-of-day) going forwards. But that is not the case for gas, and that part of the solution is fragile or not possible if the distance to the comms hub is too large, along with a question mark of whether the gas meter can fail shut if the battery dies. The call handler I spoke to at OVO would not book this installation on the basis that I am a dual fuel user. Is OVO really refusing to install smart meters on this basis? If so, I would need to raise a complaint with Ofgem, given that OVO customers are already collectively paying for smart meters via their bills. I recently upgraded my parents home to smart meters, they

Hi, I have been with OVO a couple of years now and had an Aclara SGM1411-B meter installed after joining which sends electricity readings to my IHD and online no problem.  However it has never worked with my gas to send readings automatically, and I think I was told at the time this was due to my gas meter being SMETS1 (Landis+Gyr G370) but it would be possible in future after a remote SMETS2 upgrade.  From reading online, it seems all of the SMETS2 upgrades should have happened by now but no change on mine still.  I have tried doing the upgrade check on the DCC site but it comes back with ‘we can’t find your meter’ (double checked numbers etc).I still send my gas readings manually but would like to get the smart functions for gas enabled if possible, any ideas on how to get this sorted please?My meters are next to each other in house wall boxes outside:  

Hello, I am converting a property into 10 student accommodation flats. A three-phase supply is required and we received an offer for an MSDB board 180KVA. Today I was told by National Grid, that with an MSDB board we will require 10 separate meters in either the rooms or the communal areas. As this will be student accommodation and all bills included, I'd rather have one meter positioned in the existing meter room. National Grid told me that for this, only with a Cut Out will it be possible to have one meter only. Can someone please help me out with this? - What is the difference between a Cut Out and MSDB? - How does the difference between the two impact the number of meters required?

Just got the Chameleon IHD and the battery only last 2 hours. Is it faulty?

Can anybody identify this L+G E470 5236J-Y? Is it smets 1 or 2 and as there is no comms hub is it fair to say it is not connected or is the comms hub built in?Thank you  

So on the 9th May 6am nothing changed to our daily lives but my electricity usage increased by 12 times. It went from a constant 0.03kwh to 0.4kwh, nothing has changed and we are now spending a huge amount on electricity for no change of actual usage. Please can someone help asap as this is rinsing my money each day!

Yesterday engineer come to change smets 1 to smets2 and he  was checking electric smart meter he said I can't do it because the metal door the box is wood but the door only metal .any advice I really appreciate thanks 

trying to get smart electric meter fitted but told cannot have one, we already have smart gas meter so why not electric too?

Hi, after having  Smart Meter fitted my powerline extenders (TP-LINK) have become sporadic and have lost speed. These only work on 2.4ghz so no option to change settings to 5ghz, has anyone else experienced this problem? If so does anyone have a solution.? 

Good Afternoon,I have a Trilliant meter I have noticed that the WAN indicator light is permanently on and the HAN indicator light has a steady flash.Anything to be concerned about?Jason

I joined OVO 10 days ago, and had the smart meter fitted yesterday. Great service, and very polite installer. also changed the gas meter.However it caused issues. the power reconnection seemed to cause a power surge and blew an audio component power supply. plus the boiler isnt working today (was serviced last week, and was fine until yesterday), so cold water and no heating this morning.Any idea who I should speak with about these? 

Hello , i am hoping someone can help me and explain to me how to discover/recover historical meter readings or how far back would this information be retained on the meter(would it be on the meter since installation?) , I would be very grateful for any advice . from what I have read the information maybe on button 4 but would like some advise from those more knowledgeable than myself , thank you . I had new smart meters fitted yesterday afternoon. Rather shocked to see my costs at over £5 for half a day by the time I went to bed!!! Most of it was Gas usage (>£3) and it wasn't even a cold day. According to my Nest thermostat, the boiler was only running approx 1.5 hours since the meter was fitted. How can 1.5 hrs heating equate to £3 usage ? Boiler (not combi) is rated 24 kW max and tariff shows 4p/kW (which is wrong - should be 2.68p). My basic maths suggests this should be 1.5 hrs * 24 kW * £ 0.04 = £ 1.44 + 27p standing charge. That assumes boiler runs at full tilt the whole time which is not correct as I hear it modulate down after a few minutes. This doesn't seem right to me. Even if/when the tariff is corrected it seems too high. How can I get the tariff set to the one I'm actually signed up to? How likely is it I've got a duff meter that is reading too high on gas?

When the smart meters were set to communicate with each other, the CU tripped.   The engineer could not solve the problem and simply left the installation without my knowing exactly what the problem was and how ( or who ) was going to solve it.    I am now in limbo !Any suggestions appreciated.

I’m having a smart meter fitted soon, but both my gas and electric meters are outside our property - will this affect the installation of the smart meter?  Any advice is gratefully received.  Thank you  

Smart meter not working at all now, gas hasn't worked since leaving Coop ....only had a problem since changing supplier which wasn't my choice the Coop migrated all their customers to another supplier.Had an engineer booked for early this year but it was cancelled due to Covid-19 which I understood. Had no feedback from Ovo since. The Co-op had my meter installed and it worked perfectly until I changed supplier.I understand after hearing a call from an Ovo customer with the same problem who called a radio 5 programme after being told by the ombudsman there was nothing they could do because a third party was involved, namely the National Data Base. So not holding out much hope that my problem will be fixed either. So back to  sending manual energy readings.
