My OVO energy

Hello! I'm moving into a new property and according to a website you provide the gas, but you have no record of this when I put the details on your website. Help, please!

I have been trying to setup my OVO account.  I get sent an email with a link to set the password and I do it within 2 minutes, but each time I get a message saying:  Your password reset link is invalid or expired.So, I click the link to Request another password resetAnd we go around again.  I’m sick of it.How can something so simple be so rubbish. Since the SSE → OVO change happened, not a single thing has gone smoothly.

I have now taken part in 4 trials with a target of 0.1 kWh to save. On the first 3 trials, with a target of 0.1 kWh, I didn't go out of my way to do anything different, and on 2 occasions, I saved 0.09 kWh earning me 27p on each occasion and the other was 0.07 kWh earning 21p. So on my latest trial 24/1/23 I really tried hard, I sat in the dark with no lights, no heating, no TV etc. The only power being used was the Internet and the led's on the oven and microwave and low and behold my results came back as a target 0.1 kWh and I saved 0.09 kWh earning me 27p.Something seriously wrong with OVO's monitoring and recording ability. 

I was an SSE customer, and was “migrated” to Ovo. I also changed address a couple of years back. Now when I try to register for an online account the system, the application process takes me back to details of my old address account. It’s as though it recognises my longstanding email address as being applicable to that old address.  It would be easy just to give up trying, but I need to submit meter readings. Pressing option 2 on the phone merely generates a message that “the service is not available right now but you can wait and we’ll connect you with an agent.” Cue elevator muzaak. Then, after a couple of “The Queue is 10 minutes long” messages there is a brief brr-brr ringtone and . . .  disconnect. I receive paper bills and so what I do is to take the (invariably wildly inaccurate) Economy 7 readings and work out my bill myself from my actual readings. This isn’t an exercise in try

Hi, I recently signed up to the Charge Anytime Add on, I have a Supported Car Jaguar IPACE linked to a PodPoint solo3. I have linked my account, setup a schedule ready by 7am, min 25% Max 90% and all looks good.  However as soon as I plug the car in its starts charging.  its not beneath the Min of 25% its sitting at 50%. I was expecting it to start charging later tonight. Do I need to do anything else ? I have no schedules setup on the car or the podpoint as Im expecting the App to do that. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue? does it need to learn my charging pattern or something for a few days ?  Any help appreciated.  Thanks

We have this year installed solar panels and storage batteries to supply an alternative 240 volt circuit to part of the house to reduce our electricity cost. This has worked out well and our electricty supplied by OVO has dramatically reduced. Now OVO  on entering the latest meter reading is questioning our low meter readings.Any advice on how we proceed with this? We have no issue with the company inspecting our meter or checking out our solar system.

What are you supposed to do when engineers don’t bother to turn up for an agreed appointment. Metre hasn’t worked for a year!!!!!!!  My elderly sister who lives alone is at her wits end with worry about her bills and she hasn’t had her metre working in nearly a year. She has short term memory loss and is assisted by carers yet Ovo consistantly break promises about sending someone out to check the smart metre. They are totally aware that it doesn’t work. They tell lie upon lie. Customer service is shocking!!!!!!So what would everyone do????????

I've had my smart meter for 30 months. I was not offered an IHD at the time but have been using My OVO to monitor usage online. I prefer the option of the IHD so just I ordered and received one, but while trying to configure/connect the IHD the WAN light has stayed on solid - not all of the time but for about the last 4 out of 5 weeks. Customer services first told me it would need an engineer visit to fix. Within a few days of my first call things burst into life for a week or two but the WAN light is back on solid again for two weeks and counting. On calling Customer Services again, I was told "the DCC network needs to be reset from time to time and until that happens I need to revert to manual readings". He said the next reset could be in up to 12 weeks. As far as I'm concerned this takes the smart out of "smart meter". I'm expected to do manual readings for the next 3 months ! Is there something wrong with my setup or do I just sit and suffer?

Hi all, Having just registered my interest in the Warm Home Discount 2019-20 the registration process finishes with this message: "Thanks – we’ll be in touch as soon as you can apply for the 2019/20 Warm Home Discount." I'm wondering if anybody can tell me when OVO will be in touch for me to apply for 2019-20 discount? Also once one has filled in the online form and registered interest in the Warm Home should you receive a confirmation e-mail? Thanks your help, Clare

Why is there no contact OVO email address on MyOVO home page or any where else on the site Does OVO not wish to be bothered by customers? If not please say. Then I can help by moving to another supplier. Have noticed others on forum are having same problem. Can anyone suggest a supplier who likes to hear from customers?

I am informed my meter is out of test and needs replacing. Am I obliged to have a smart meter? I have a complex WiFi arrangement with multiple access points, I run a local web and email server requiring constant power and I am also a practising licensed amateur radio operator regularly transmitting signals of the order of 50-100 Watts. I already experience serious interference from local sources such as VDSL and other people’s faulty “home plugs”. I have also read of all the issues which can arise from smart meter installation, including reports of electrical faults being introduced by the installing engineer (who on occasions with some companies has apparently been shown to be uncertified) and failure of the installation to properly communicate, giving users sometimes months of grief with much blame-passing between providers of various parts of the infrastructure. I would much prefer to stay un-smart and provide nice, simple meter readings! Is this possible, or am I legally obliged

Just moved house (19/12) and set up account with OVO for gas and leccy.House has old style gas meter and a pre-payment key style meter.The latter is a pain having to keep topped up so requested a smart meter and direct debit payment.However no discover that the tariff is much higher!Prepay:32.93/kWh + 54.19p/dayDD:37.55p/kWh + 55.36p/dayBoth are on standard tarrif/evergreen type.Thought direct debit would be cheaper. And as it stands think that the DD figure is higher than the price cap.Can't figure it out. Talking to customer support is a very painful experience.And why do they bother giving an illustrative charge for the year.Complete waste of time when they base DD on 2900kwh usage but Prepay 2012kWh. Why bother if not going to compare like with like. Useless.

A simple query…..after entering electricity readings of 26400 then 26456, a total of 56 units used, which equals 56kWh, why does my OVO online usage show 55.80kWh. As it is simple subtraction why is it showing to two decimal places? as readings are in whole numbers not fractions. 

The price of Wholesale Gas has just crashed to a new low. Just 150p per therm compared to 702p in August.This being the case, why are our Gas Bills STILL so high??

If you rent a home personally between family and you can't control who enters the home or when and how they use your utilities, how do you deal with financial abuse from these people?I have 40 year old something person who is granted access to the property via the landlady and I cant get her to pay towards her usage when she's here (a daily fee). They also use emotion blackmail to get away with it.  Is there a better payment scheme other than direct debit that gives me full control over these matters?

I have had an email today to tell me that OVO are now discontinuing the real time usage data collected by the smart gateway. I have been using this (via the api) to feed into OpenHAB and allow my smart-home to make decisions based on the current usage so am extremely disappointed at this decision. However, i'm hoping that there is a way forward using the smart gateway. Looking more closely at the device it seems to be a fairly standard telegesis zigbee data collector. It has a web based management interface but I do not have the username/password for this. Does anyone know what it is? If I can get into the config then the sever that it posts to could be changed to my own one and then OVO can switch off whatever they like! TLDR; Does anyone know the username/password for the smart gateway management interface?

what is the current capped tariff for economy 7

Hello, My daily usage on my OVO app used to show in pounds and pence but has now changed to Watts. My monthly usage still shows in pounds and pence though. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks 

Does OVO still have an energy fund that can be applied to, to help with an existing energy debt?  I have tried applying to British Gas for a grant for non-customers and they have said that they cannot help as OVO has its own energy fund.

Local authorities have launched their own energy companies in the past, some have failed and one or two have been successful. Would it be viable for an energy company to work alongside a local authority to bring down tariffs and any profits shared?Councils could use profits to improve housing conditions e.g., insulation, solar panels etc.

i have an EV and my contract with OVO is up for renewal next month - I also only have electricity with OVO, due to having Oil instead of Gas so i’m not able to move onto OVO Drive !.Is it worth getting the meter installed with OVO if i end up having to move to another supplier?  or wait until i move and get them to install?

Using Microsoft Edge 110 on Windows 11 with dark mode enabled for all pages.A recent change to forum styles means that a thread list block title appears white until the cursor hovers over it, when it changes to green. That’s fair enough and quite snappy, but once the cursor moves out of the topic card, the colour reverts to an almost invisible dark grey:  Colour transition white > green > dark greyWould someone please bring this to the designers’ attention? I've got two questions about the new OVO online account pages. 1/ Are the calorific values used to calculate monthly gas charges shown anywhere on the OVO pages? My apologies if they are displayed, but I've missed them. I raise the question because you need to know the relevant calorific value if you're trying to check your gas charge calculations - right through from the meter readings to the final amount. Under the old arrangements the relevant averaged calorific value was recorded on your monthly gas bill. As far as I can see you can't download an 'old-style' gas bill under the new arrangements - and I don't think the calorific value is included on the new web pages. I know you can download calorific values via the National Grid website - but this is a palaver because you have to filter out the dail

Hi all, I am not sure do any one have same issue or just my family. Received any shocking message from OVO again. tariff rate increase is expectable however what we could expect is how come the tariff in December 22 ( Suppose the December 22  rate is under the contract of Oct 22)In our bill, the tariff for power and gas from 01 Oct 22 to 31 Dec 22:-Gas Standard charge  - 31.93p/dayGas tariff rate - 10.56p/kWhElectricity standard charge - 42.53p/dayDay energy tariff rate - 41.69p/kWhNight energy tariff rate - 20.91p/kWh  Regardless the new tariff rate from 1st January 2023, the “current” tariff is totally different. Gas Standard charge  - 33.53p/dayGas tariff rate - 11.09p/kWhElectricity standard charge - 44.6/dayDay energy tariff rate - 43.77p/kWh
