Gas usage not showing online after SMETS2 smart meter fitting - any ideas?

In response to OVO's 'encouragement', our 'smart' meter system (so far, marked only by its dumbness) was fitted on 18th December. The IHD (In Home Display) shows some (and inconsistent) info about electricity usage and none about gas - I note that other contributors have flagged this problem. Compared with the known power rating of various appliances (I tend to use our microwave since it is programmable for a wide range of different power outputs), the IHD is showing much higher electricity usage that I would have expected. So far, there is no info at all on the OVO website regarding our gas usage and, as elderly people, my wife and I struggle to press the buttons and read the figures on the new gas meter - that is equipped with an entirely blank display... OVO customer support promised that someone would arrange to visit and check the system within five days of my notifying the problem. Pipit 500 Smart meter In Home Display (IHD) does not reset after a bill - why?

Can you please tell me why the smart meter does not reset to zero after a bill run? Please don't tell me it will just keep going up and up each day, that really is not useful at all. Is there a way of manually resetting it after a bill run? Cheers Mark

Night readings on smart meter - How do I find them?

Prior to having my smart meter fitted on September 20th my old meter showed one window for day and one for night readings. I am on Economy 7, have night storage heaters and try to use the cheaper nighttime rate wherever possible. The installation engineer removed the ancient looking clock which dictated when the night rate cut in.My new meter however only gives me the opportunity to submit one daytime rate which I assume will eventually be submitted automatically. Can you assure me that I am still on Economy 7 and let me know how I will be able to forward readings?

How do I take a manual reading from my OVO smart meter?

I need to send in meter readings. I have smart meters installed but I’m not sure how to get the reading displayed on the screen. Could someone please tell me what buttons I have to press to get the readings? Thank you

Can I get a SMETS2 smart meter installation when I sign up to OVO?

What's the current status with OVO?Obviously I basically want to know:- If I sign up now do I get offered a free smart meter installation- If so, will it be SMETS2?- If not, is there a scheduled date for when this is likely to be available?Many thanks,Rich

How do I take a reading from a Secure SMETS 1 smart meter?

I need to give my current meter readings to my new supplier but I can appear to find my current meter readings on the Smart meter. I’ve tried entering “9” but I think this is for a different make. Any suggestions please?

Why is my smart meter tripping the fuse box overnight? - Who should I contact to fix this?

Hi all, I've had a recurring problem with my fuse box RCD tripswitch tripping overnight and I'm wracking my brains to find out what's causing it; thought I'd post something here to see if anyone had similar problems before I fork out for a leccy. We're with OVO and have had our smart-meter for about a year, which replaced our old manual meter. Our fusebox is a Memera 2000 and the RCD protects our shower, water heater (defunct as we use a combi boiler which is wired to the main supply) and sockets (all on seperate trip switches). During the night the RCD switch will trip which knocks out our power so I have to turn it back on manually in the morning. I've used the OVO energy tracker to trace the problem to when it started on 14/06, where we had readouts of 0.0kwh at 2.00am. It's a pretty consistent pattern with a few minor variations which I've listed below 19/06 4am, 20/06 1.30am, 22/06 2.30am, 23/06 2.30am, 2/07 13pm, 3/07 3am, 6/07 2.30am, 7/07 4.30am and 8/07 4.30am. How do I read my new SMETS2 meter manually?

I've got smart meters and OVO are saying that they haven't received any readings from the gas meter for over 100 days!! I've received bills and my smart meter display in the house is giving me daily updates on my usage. The electricity meter is working and is sending readings no problem. I have looked at trying to read it myself but its really awkward and there are way too many buttons. Help!!

Pipit 500 In Home Display (IHD) showing incorrect prices - why?

Good morning. Ever since I've had my Smart Meters installed, my IHD has definitely been showing incorrect rates, even if you take into account that it shows VAT and My Ovo doesn't. How do I get this corrected on the IHD so the estimated spend figures in £ are correct? Under Electricity on the IHD the tariff is 'NEWENERGY' and Gas is 'Ovo Variable'.

Why is my smart meter In Home Display (IHD) showing the wrong time?

I had a smart meter fitted on the 25th January and seems to work fine up until yesterday and now the clock is running 1 hour and 40 minutes slow. Is there any way of changing the time on it? I’ve got the Chameleon device

How can I get my new Chameleon In Home Display (IHD) joined to the network and displaying my usage information?

Hey there! I just received my new smart meter and the IDH (black model "Chameleon") and I successfully joined my home WIFI. The WIFI Signal is displaying three bands, so all good for the internet connection. When it comes now to the "Join network" which is I imagine the connection to the smart meter reading, It loop over and over again without any chance to get my real-time consumption, any clue?

Why is my In Home Display (IHD) only displaying gas usage?

My Chameleon In Home Display (IHD) is only displaying my gas usage and not electricity. Signal is good and everything else is working ok but electricity usage is not showing. Any ideas please

I'm still waiting for a gas smart meter due to a medium pressure supply - who can I contact?

We had an engineer come round to fit gas and electricity smart meters. He couldn't fit the gas one, because the supply was the wrong pressure. He promised an engineer would come within 2-3 months. Or so. More than a year has elapsed. Who do I speak to?

Why can't the engineer test the signal strength before fitting smart meter?

I was very disappointed with OVO when I had a smart meter installed and that they did not test the strength of the wireless signal it uses. When I complained that as its not working and after trying various proccedures etc etc still nothing. When I asked the meter be removed I was told once its in its in! I Decided I was Not accepting that as the signal clearly was the issue. I contacted my local MP and after explaining what had happened my MP acted very quickly and arranged directly with OVO’s High Level Customer Complaints Team to get someone out to test and do their checks and then 2 weeks after I complained the Smart Meter was changed for a non smart meter and since then I have had no more wireless or mobile signal problems. Even when another part of the OVO family sent me a letter saying that they couldn't see my smart meter, again I had to call them and asked them to read my notes and complained. They finally admitted defeat and apologised for the inconvenience. How do I find out my day/night meter reading on a Liberty 110 Secure smart meter?

I can get the number of units consumed but not have not yet been able to find a meter reading for the day units and the nights units? Also what is the time that the low rate units start and stop?

How do I read my gas smart meter for the switch? Is it in cubic meters or kWh?

Hi, I moved away from ovo to Scottish power last year and had a major issue around meter readings. SP said ovo use first gen meters which don’t match to other suppliers so the usual ovo reading didn’t match anything with SP. I’m now returning to ovo and I’m concerned that the same thing will happen only in reverse. Can someone please tell me which readings I need from the meters please. Also please don’t send me to the usual link on the ovo website as it doesn’t tell me anything about specific readings. For info, for gas, SP want the volume cubic meters reading. I’m sure ovo prefer the imp kWh reading. Is this correct. Many thanks.

Hi, I have moved house and I want to read the meter but I have no pin, how do I get a new pin and get the meter brought up to date? It is still showing the previous owners value of usage for gas and electric. Thanks

Can my smart meter be tested to make sure it is accurate and not over clocking?

I've always been a little suspicious of my meter readings and changing to a smart meter has not altered that. There are just two of us living in a four bed house. We cook with electric and use gas for water/central heating. We also have solar for water which reduces the bill substantially through the summer. However, our DD has always been between £150 and £178 per month, whereas most of our friends are paying sub £100. We've recently compared bills, usage and costs per kWh with friends who houses and lifestyles are comparable to ours and their DDs range from £60 - £80 pm. How can we be so far adrift? I would like my meters checked to ensure that they are measuring correctly. Can this be arranged?

My smart meter is making a funny noise - What should I do?

I had a gas & electric smart meter fitted about 3 weeks ago. Since then my outside gas meter makes a really loud noise every time the gas switches on, surely this can't be correct?

Where does a smart meter get installed? I'm worried about having them inside my home!

If I was to move over to OVO and have a smart meter installed, where does it get installed? Will it be inside or can I have it outside? I don't want a smart meter installed inside my home because of negative effects on health that have been reported. Please let me know, thanks.
