I am currently paying by DD and have built up a credit of in excess of £500. I’m on the standard variable price cap rate for gas and electricity. I appreciate that this is going to increase and also that it’s summer so I will be using far less energy than in winter and the idea of DD is to pay a fixed amount over 12 months to cover the usage. I however resent OVO holding on to my money and I would rather it be sitting in my own bank account. If I cancel my DD and pay by bank transfer/card each month on receipt of bill for exact monthly usage will I end up paying any more? What I mean is, OVO obviously prefer DD so are there any additional charges/increase in tariff if I don’t pay by DD? 

IHD was working perfectly after recent installation but the gas display has just become a series of dots on the cost option. However, the KWH’s used displays fine on day/week/month options. How can I get the cost option working again?

I'm looking at the app and trying to get a refund. The app is asking for a meter reading, even though my smart meter is supplying a daily reading. The app now doesn't show me how much refund I can get, however it did until a couple of weeks ago when I last checked. 

HelloWe’ve had a 3.7kw solar pv set up on our roof for 8 years, we’re in East Sussex. We were lucky enough to come in on the tail end of the feed-in tariff, so it has almost paid for itself. We don’t have a Smart Meter so our export is assumed to be 50% for the tariff, we know we don’t export that much as we also run our business from this building so we’re always here. We’ve had a 100% Electric car for 4 years (Leaf), and this summer we had a Heat Pump installed as part of the OVO trial. We don’t yet know how our bills will look this winter without gas, we have a multi fuel burner as back-up. We didn’t have a water tank with our gas boiler so didn’t have an iBoost-type gizmo fitted, which means our excess solar does not currently heat our water. So…  battery storage. We've had a painful saga with a traditional PAYG card meter for gas, where the card contacts were failing but OVO's diagnostics did not check that over the course of 9 months. So we had a total of 5 weeks without gas until finally the meter was replaced. The National Grid engineer seemed to say that this is quite a common failure, so why not check for it? If you put your card into the meter and the display doesn't come on, chances are the contacts for the card are failing. Why not ask that simple question early in the process? Before sending a new card, asking for the contents of all 32 screens, sending customer to look for a shop that has a new card in-stock... I have lodged a complaint because the OVO process and outcomes were absolutely painful. I hope posting here may shortcut this for others... 

I have a THTC installation with a Radio Teleswitch that controls the storage heaters.  Has OVO developed any smart meter configurations that can replace the radio Teleswitch as this is due to become obsolete next year.

I was’t at home over Christmas but according to my electricity usage more Kwhrs was used on Christmas Day than is normal for me.  What is going on ?  OVO speak much about this but actually explain very little in fact they talk complete ‘Grey’.  Not good enough !  Same with my Gas ?????  The records should only show actual usage ie, If nothing is used a big fat zero should be shown for those particular days - anything else is completely confusing !  But that’s the name of the game isn’t it - confuse them so that they will eventually ‘go away’.

Hello, I am currently with British gas and Economy pay as you go meter with ofline recharge with the key provided. I would like to switch the provider to ovo energy with economy 7 supported meter with online topup option(smart meter). Is it possible? I tried calling the customer care and they told they aren't accepting economy 7 customers as of now.

Got a letter from Boost on the 26th January 2024 stating they had added the £150 home discount to my electric account. It is now 15th February 2024 and still no money added to my smart meter credit. Absolutly abysmal  service from OVO ( Boost). I dont think they really want to  give this money out and are making it very, very difficult to obtain any satifactory result.I have given them the information they asked for , a home telephone number and email address. The information does not match the information they have on record. There will only one account number matching my name. I will have to take this further as they seem to be deliberately withholding  money genuinly entitled to me.

Since the 1st October, my smart meter tracker has been showing unusual values. Have phoned ovo numerous times, but still getting the same answer which is, still having glitches. I want someone to come and have a look at my meter, but not getting any joy. 

There are various discussions about reducing carbon emissions and many ( or most?) refer to net zero .. but .. it that the best target? We already see the effect of global warming on climate and depending on your situation, that can already have an effect on life. More often than not, most refer to a Net Zero target which in effect ‘levels’ the rise but does little to reduce warming. This then moves to ‘Sub Net Zero’ so that some reduction is expected but probably not for quite a number of years. And finally, Zero emissions meaning that nature can really begin to work its magic and repair the planet.  

Hi there I have just picked up the keys to my new house and the vendors advised me that the gas & electricity are both provided by OVO. A smart meter is installed and payment is by way of PAYG using separate top-up cards. I am eager to change the payment method to Direct Debit. How can I go about this? I can't find any details on the OVO website and an email to customer services has been met with a particularly unhelpful response suggesting that they can't offer any advice because my email address isn't registered with them. I have been monitoring this situation for a while ! No matter when my boiler starts in the mornings OVO’s gas energy graphs/lists always show it starting half an hour earlier, OVO insist it’s my boiler starting up, I can tell you that’s impossible ! I know my smart heating system inside out and got very frustrated being fobbed off by OVO, so being an early riser I took it on myself to prove so.At midnight for four days I turned the gas off by the lever at the gas meter,I also physically turned the boiler off at the switch, the following morning at 5.55am the gas was turned back on, at 6am the boiler was powered up,the graphs over this period still reported my boiler starting at 5.30am ! With an average of 1.49kwh used in that half an hour.On further investigation the energy app “Hugo” is reporting the same (starting half an hour earlier)With my evidence supplied to OVO they still insist it’s my boiler, 🤔 which is impossible, as is anything else using

Why dont OVO have an overnight Cheap tarriff ?

This doesn’t affect customers currently onboarded with Ohme and Charge anytime. If you have an Ohme charger and a compatible EV, you’ll be able to sign up to Charge Anytime via your vehicle instead.To sign up to Charge Anytime you must be an OVO customer and have an eligible car or charger. As a boost customer are we supposed to be using the Ovo top up app? Since they are essentially the same company ? I read that last year ovo were migrating boost customers over. Onto ovo ? all you can see on the boost app are top up amounts no balance of what is on meters etc? Does the ovo top up app give you more informative?

At the end of my current billing period I send a current meter reading online. Then I wait for 24 hours giving time for my bill to be calculated before then paying the required amount through my online account. Monitoring my payment through my bank the payment takes at worst 24 hours. It is then with extreme annoyance that after a delay of between 3-6 days I receive an email statement saying that I owe an amount which is always slightly different to the one I have just paid.My query is having worked in computer software for over 35 years and fully realising the speed that the modern banking systems work, why does my payment take so long to get from my bank to being recognised by OVO’s accounting system. Could the answer be that when dealing with millions of accounts, any even small delay, can accrue significant interest just by holding onto the money in a different account.In this modern world I find that being told that I owe an amount of money that I paid several day

Hi, My smart meter has a thirty minute delay between the E7 rate being applied and the E7 power being switched. This means I am only getting six and a half hours at E7 rate and worse When the meter switches back to the day rate the E7 power does not switch off for a further thirty minutes so my water heaters and storage radiators are charged at the peak rate for half an hour. I have contacted OVO and done all the checks on the meter they required but have not been offered a solution. This is costing me money. I only realised what was happening recently but believe the problem has been with me either since I had the meter installed or switched to OVO both over two years ago. Has anyone else had this problem and what can I do to get OVO to rectify this. to date I have just been fobbed off by the helpline staff who either don’t grasp the problem or don’t want to admit it exists,

Hi just wanting to find out if anyone else is having bother getting their warm home discount.I have a pay as you go meter, and i have topped up 5 times  on different days at the same shop , and put the key in the meter each time, but it is not triggering the payment.Just wondering if there have been any problems regarding this that i’m not aware of, thanks for any help 👍🏼
