I wonder what they’re doing to my poor meter?

See if you can replicate @Firedog

I had the same screen & a scrambled process to enrol.

Had to confirm the switch to half hourly readings (but already sending ½ readings)

plus a second check box to confirm something???

> splash screen showing the process to set up ½ hourly readings can take up to 24hr’s plus ?.?.? Never took much notice.(power move pending)

30 Seconds later on the power move tab again,

> just 1 confirmation this time to enable ½ hr readings > the process to enable ½ hr readings can take upto 24hr’s… … …(powemove pending)

hit the power move tab immediately for the 3rd time,

> enrolled & status = active.

iPadOS 18  > app 19.3.3

Exactly as for @TomThumb (thank you for your help!!): the OVO Beyond home page process for acceptance onto the Winter PowerMove seemed to require me (when I was prompted after asking to join PowerMove) to select half hour readings for usage and for billing, to click OK and then once more apply to join. A bit disconcerting to be whizzed through two or three minor hoops, but the whole thing took only about 20 seconds of button-pushing and watching the system think to itself for a few tense moments!  But eventually after that 20 second or so period, it confirmed I’d joined; and fair play, I guess it’s extra busy, of course, this evening.

@waltyboy at least I’m not alone thinking the whole process was a lill bit disjointed.

I will miss taking part In the Winter Power Move but like quite a few of us I have been excluded this time around.

Good luck everyone 🤞

Does anyone expect anything to run smoothly these days?

(Oops, my cynicism is showing again).

Thanks, Tom

Nothing to confirm, either there or on the web. Half-hourly readings selected everywhere.

I think I’m an edge case (again!) that the app doesn’t know what to do with. I’ll be back after the 24-hour wait - I’m still not confident.

Why do we have to download the app just to sign up for the winter challenge?

Hi @ruthr ,

Long story short, Power Move is now part of OVO Beyond so you need to use the app to access that and the other Beyond stuff. The app will now also help you keep track of your progress on a weekly basis, which wasn’t available previously.

The cynic in me suggests:-

Someone in OVO has a target of app users or increase in app take-up so is looking for a way to increase take-up of the app to ensure that target is met.

Just what I thought!  I’m not a keen app user - don’t see a need for most of them - but this is forcing us - so, yes, I have downloaded it!

Hey @ruthr,

We had some customers in for a connection event, and one of the talking points was that some of our offers people miss out on because they aren’t aware of them. Beyond is helping us by pulling everything together in one place so you’ll know what’s on offer and could benefit you. It’s also allowed us to increase the frequency to weekly so that you’ll have more control over knowing your progress towards the challenge target.

@wkeithg To give a little insight the uptake from customers has far exceeded our expectations and this change isn’t related to any kind of targets. I hope this helps!

Could also be a way to increase people taking up the offers in the Beyond app - more users —> more take up of offers = more money for Ovo, plus the partner discount offers - is there money in that for Ovo?

I avoid apps at all costs so this will deter me from taking part completely. I don’t seem to be able to find details of the benefits/rewards/perks in order to make a balanced decision about whether it will be worth it for me. I had previously participated predominantly to help the grid and green usage whilst it benefited me too. If I can’t find out how I might benefit then it really isn’t worth the hassle of downloading the app and learning how to manage a whole new system of frustration. 😒

It’s actually pretty simple tbh - download the app, activate Power Move and close it if you really don’t care about anything else..

I don’t see why we should be forced, in a way, to use the app.

Just clicked on it- 2 secs it took.

Only thing I was not sure on was the meter questions which I think were send reading every half hour which I know is Yes but the other one was something about send meter readings for settlements and I said yes to that too!  - Not sure if that was correct but it simply said your meter will be updated in 24 hours!!!

However, with that being said, Power Move is still Power Move. Nothing about the core of how it works has changed. But it is worth noting that most of the stuff you’ll find in the app now are things that folks were asking for a lot.

I’d recommend you at least give it a try - just for one month at least. If you don’t like it, feel free to yell at me for suggesting it in the first place. If it works, let me know it was worth a go.

Ah thank you!!   This is what I would like to see in the app hahah

The current offers are of no use to me, so I simply use the app for my useage and this power move, it would be good if all “important” updates were added in there I guess!

Those settings are also in the app too! :)

But they need to both be on Half-Hourly for stuff like Power Move to work.

Mmm, ‘forced’?

Whether you choose to to do the Power Move challenges or not is entirely up to you.
Nobody is twisting your arm up your back if you don’t want to take part..

I did say ' in a way'. But if I do 'choose' to join the Power Move like last year, then I am in effect 'forced' to use the app.
