I just opened my door to find a man reading my electric meter. When I said I send monthly readings he replied saying they have to do regular safety checks. Is this legitimate?

Hi, Just had smart meters and new style IHD installed and have a couple of questions please as have no user instructions. 1. By 6.00am every morning (when I get up) it tells me that I've already used around £1.30 of dual fuel on a total spend per day of around £3.50. Why so high when the central heating/water turns on around 5.30am? 2. What do the green/orange/red lights tell me at the bottom of the IHD, (not the meters)? Thanks. Jez

I‘m told my next “reading date” is the 1st. June., but the “Help” on the OVO site states “You must give us a generation meter reading before the end of each of these months to get paid for that quarter”. Does that mean I can give a reading any time in June and get paid within the stated 8 weeks from that date?

My Ovo Energy is showing correct daily readings for both electricity and gas, up to today, and my bills show actual rather than estimated readings but I have been sent a letter from Ovo Energy (with correct name, address and account number) saying I need to send them readings because my smart meter hasn’t sent them a meter reading for over 9 months.  Is this some sort of error on Ovo’s part or a scam?

I recently read a post from @S Hart bemoaning the receipt of an email from OVO concerning changes the company was making to achieve net zero.  I didn't agree with what Mr. Hart was saying or how he was saying it, mainly because he missed the main point.  I’m surprised more OVO customers haven’t discussed this email on this forum as it seems quite an important change in the way OVO are going to interact with those of its customers who like to try and buy 100% renewable energy.  Indeed, it may be why a lot of customers  signed up to OVO in the first place - I know I did.So the explanation that OVO gave in the “we’re making some changes” email and subsequent link giving a deeper explanation….https://www.ovoenergy.com/blog/path-to-zero….was interesting more for what it didn’t say about REGO’s than what i

As some of you will know, I keep a close eye on my fuel usage (as many do these days) but yesterday was a particular example. I use a few different data feeds to look at various aspects of both electric use and gas consumption. Although the OVO usage page does now show electrical usage during the current day (approx 1 hr behind actual), it doesn’t show any gas use until the next day. For this I use my Hildebrand/Glow IHD and the Bright app which tracks electrical use approx 10 secs behind time and gas in 30 minute segments. Yesterday I saw this Which confused me as after an initial heating burst on a cold morning, there is usually no gas usage apart from a blip now and then for cooking or hot water. I’m afraid I have nothing positive or supportive to say about OVO in any way, shape or form. I won’t go in to the detail as I don’t have the time or the spirit right now. Suffice to say that they have been unable to sort out a range of issues (related to meter readings and bills) for a vulnerable friend of mine who is an OVO account holder.  This saga has been going on for five months.In all my years of dealing with service industries I’ve never seen (or heard) such an ineffective and inefficient organisation. Why is OVO so inefficient and ineffective?Why can’t OVO actually see the problem and solve the problem? They have all the information.Why can’t they respond to two complaints I’ve written?Why can’t they prioritise this problem as the acct holder is (allegedly) on the Priority Service Register and the case has been escalated?Why can’t I reach the decision makers or get a senior input on the phone?An absolute disgrace and shambles

OVO just sent me a totally bewildering email saying they’re “making some important changes”.Could anyone explain in SIMPLE ENGLISH what these important changes are? Because the email seems like nonsense to me: sentence after sentence which doesn’t actually say anything, just wastes customers’ time, full of strange technical jargon like “supercharged upgrade”, “net zero”, “cutting carbon”, and “powering a more sustainable future for the country”. WHAT!?Half the email is about the “climate crisis”. Why is my energy company promoting political issues? If I happened to be an enrivonmentalist, that would be MY business, nothing to do with OVO. I hate the presumptiousness of it all, treating its customers as though we’re all obsessed with environmental issues. I have an Ohme Home Pro and am trying to add Charge Anytime. I get to the confirmation screen that is badged with the Ohme logo and asks me to confirm I’m happy to share with Kaluza. When I tap on Confirm, the app crashes or the website says something went wrong.I contacted the Smart Home team who sent me an email saying that there’s a problem with accounts setup using an Apple email and I should contact Ohme to disconnect the account and just use an email address. Thing is, my account is one with just an email address!I contacted Ohme who say everything looks good their end so I have now gone back to the Smart Home team but haven’t had a response yet.Has anyone else come across this issue in the meantime?I will obviously update as and when I hear from the team but this is really annoying as it’s the main reason I moved to OVO!

Why does my meter that shows how much energy I am using per day per week per month show less than the actual.meter does for example appliance says I have used say £15 a month actual meter in the cupboard that exports the reading says I have used £25 a month.  When the little gadget thing goes to midnight it registers about 1 pence then suddenly jumps to 74 pence even though there is on the fridge freezer on as we are usually going to bed.  I have oil central heating.  Thank you

I recently had a smart meter installed and there is an extra set  of old fuses between the smart meter tails and the incoming mains supply. Can I get this tidied up so I can reduce the size of the cupboard in which they live? See picture attached.Many thanks,TidyNeil 

I am in urgent need of help and advice.I currently have a 2 x 100A Supply into a mixed commercial/residential building and have just had a new 3-phase 100A supply installed, currently looking for a supplier to install meters.The issue I have is that I may have a requirement for a 3-phase supply in either the new cafe or the new warehouse but my electrical contractor is advising me to split my new 3-phase supply on the 3 flats but that means I then have only 2 x 100A supply for the rest of the building. I really want to use the 3-phase supply to service both my warehouse and my cafe which may have some requirements for a 3-phase supply which I will not have from my residential flats. If I keep my 3-phase supply can I split that supply between meters and allowing for diversity to run all of my appliances that require a heavier load from the 3-phase supply i.e, kitchen appliances and warehouse equipment.  

About 18 months ago I had a single (second hand non-smart) E7 meter fitted to replace the previous 2 meter set up on which I was charges a legacy tariff.  I had asked for a smart meter but the engineer told me on arrival that this would not be possible, and offered me the 2nd hand E7 meter which he just happened to have in his van.   The whole idea was to allow me to shop around for the best deal, which with 2 separate meters had not been possible.  Events since have scuppered that but hopefully there will be a competitive market again sometime!Embarrassingly, I have only just realised that the cheap rate only applies to the immersion heater and storage heater.  Would it be possible to have the meter changed so all my usage during the E7 period (midnight to 7am) is charges at the cheap rate?  This seems to be how it is expected to be used.  Thanks in advance.

I have a question. We have PV panels since the beginning so highest rate of return. Can we fit a immersion diverter and not jeopardise our fit contract. We buy from British Gas but have been passed to Ovo. We have a smart meter. thanks in anticipation. 

SInce my earlier post has been deleted I am coming back aain to show that my energy projections are wrong. And I am sure this will be the case for others.  Below details show my electricity use in April 2023 is 71.96, also look my last bills Although Ovo says they update projection with actual use, they project I will use 217 pounds in April 2024.  And ask me to increase DD to 294. Are there any other with same issue?  

​Hi, my android OVO app hasn't shown any electricity usage/cost since 20th October. Gas is fine. I've checked my SMETS1 smart meter and it's blinking and pausing as it should, therefore sending data. AFAIK, I have the latest version of the app, 15.5.0.​

Three weeks ago the OVO customer services booked, and confirmed, an appointment for today, 21st April 23, for an engineer to change my failed "smart" meter.For the third time. Appointment timed for 0800 to 1200.Well, it's now nearly half past two and no-one has arrived. Can someone from OVO please comment and tell me what the hell is going on? Oh, and yes, YOU can pay ME £30 for non attendance. 

My charge anytime app has stopped updating direct to the car.Still not working after turning the phone off and on a few times.What shall I do next?

Why does my smart metre show about 3kw of electricity are suddenly used at around midnight every night. Nothing is on in the house at that hour. Could it be some sort of boost to the solar panels battery? It didn't appear when they were first installed in September last.

In your discussion on SMETS1 vs SMETS2 you indicate that SMETS1 meters will be made DCC compliant by end 2019 but you do not make it clear if this will be a hardware fix done by an engineer at the house or a remotely activated software download. (I mean in respect of the meters you are currently installing).
