I can't log into my ovo account as it us saying ip address barred

Ahh, well that’s one thing I’ve considered.

I have a self-hosted VPN Server that resides in the UK which runs on my own hardware using WireGuard. Whenever I connect to it, I can move my IP back to the UK regardless of where I am in the world.

Perks of having Ubiquiti kit! UniFi Teleport is just so helpful - and cheaper than paying for a commercial service. :)

It sounds like you got banned by an automated security tool for some reason.

Please talk to OVO Support about this via Live Chat at https://ovoenergy.com/help or call 0330 303 5063. They may be able to help with this.

I’m sorry, but I’m forbidden from revealing ways to get round that type of ban.

Just one comment.

Are you using a VPN?
If you are then try temporarily disabling the VPN or turning it off.
It may be giving you an IP from a country that shouldn’t be accessing UK customer accounts.
(I’ve seen similar happen before with other types of account when a provider has allocated people an IP that indicates they are in a ‘barred’ country).

Just had a few friends of mine test this - VPN’s that take you outside of the UK will cause this ban to trigger. Just another reason why using one 24/7/365 isn’t recommended unless you know the consequences.

I thought so, and I'd  say that's how it should be as an extra security measure.

Might be a bit if a issue if you try to access your account when on holiday abroad, but relax and look at it when you get home.
